Maui Jim and Ray-Ban are two of the biggest sunglasses makers going head to head in todays video. We take a look into both of their color enhancing lenses to see what sets them apart and what makes one better that the other.
Great review and channel, i have had both and honestly I think Maui Jim are great glasses but I just got the new Ray-Ban chromance 3483s and I got to say they are crisp I have custom lenses putting them due to my prescription but they are just spot on on color. Now back to the maui jim I didn't have prescriptions when I had my Maui Jones but I had the rose tent and they were crystal clear so it's kind of like a Lincoln and a Cadillac and glasses I think the mileage gyms are the Lincoln and the Ray-Bans are the Cadillacs. Cheer's 🙏
Have 3 rayban, but today just bought maui jim. Yeah i need sunglasses coz amma beach boy in Bali.. maui jim much much much better quality and not a fake colour
I'm a little curious if the Ray Ban's making artificial colors pop is a sign that it's letting UV light through the lens? Because that would be the effect UV light has on objects with that sort of color range/
With Ray Ban you're still paying a premium for the name. Maui Jim you're paying for superior craftsmanship, superior materials, design, and outstanding customer service.
@Yippee Skippy You are totally right. When you are the yardstick by which all sunglasses are compared to, people are always going to be trying to take you down. Even if they have to skew the facts(I.e.lie). I’ve had people tell me that their gas station sunglasses are better than my Ray • Bans. 😂 Some people just can’t accept that Ray • Bans are the best.
I've had a pair of chromance raybans for a couple of months. Not a patch on the glass raybans I had years ago. Those I could live with. The new ones seem to demand mollycoddling to minimise scratching, they are annoying to use with phone or computer screens, and they seem suspiciously 'delicate' - disappointed.
Well, here a Ray-Ban costs considerably less than a Jim. I like both brands, but I will never buy polycarbonate lenses again. No matter the treatment or how beautiful the vision or colors are. Even if you're really careful after a few years it will scratch solely from cleaning. Definitely not durable and not worth the money.
Great review!! Ive had them all and here is what I think. The Maui Jim polycarbon does have clear optics although I enjoy the warmer colors of the chromance which is slightly warmer and richer than the Prizms incase you're wondering where they sit in all this. The Persols, just to throw a spanner in, are extremely clear in the glass, of-course but a touch heavy on the nose and don't always sit perfectly around the ears. So nothing wrong with any of them at all, Persols and chromance are made in Italy. Persols are certainly high quality but dont buy the ones with the incission slits on the nose bridge. "Just dont." Italian Ray Bans are better than the Chinese Ray Bans. Oakley prism are fine if you get them at discount. Glass lens Ray Bans are excellent but heavier as all glass lenses are. To add more confusion, the Arnette's brown lenses are even really good visually for the cash, as are the cheap Forrester Grants, believe it or not. $20 bang for buck, seriously can't go wrong, especially the iron man models. Best sport, beach, fishing brand in the world for THE PRICE!!. In conclusion however the glass lense models on Maui Jim are the best I have ever experienced in every way. Having said that, I haven't yet had the pleasure of analysing a pair of Serengeti, Randolphs, Oliver People, Mykita. Mark Williams. They are hard to find down under and not cheap to import sadly. Im Also hearing a lot of talk about the Sun God's atm.
@Yippee Skippy interesting content. I think every brand has their own quality products. I have since got a pair of the Persol 2747s and can't get them off my face. I even want to wear them at night. Don't really know why but a crystal clear lenses for sure. I think it's subjective to ones preference of style and lenses and brand. I think many are drawn to the marketing power of oakley and ray bans. Others look a little deeper and the fashionista is drawn to the over priced Italian Gucci, Versace etc because they don't want anyone to miss them as the pass by you.
That is a very good point! Some Maui Frames do use what they call STG (Super thin glass). For the purposes of this review both sunglasses have non-glass lenses in them.
I found a pair of Maui Jim Titanium aviators at race course and because I hadn't heard of the brand before assumed that they were fake Ray-bans. They're are so light and comfortable. It annoys me when people assume that they're Ray-ban haha
At this point in time no one should get Rey Bans for any reason whatsoever. They are owned by Luxottica which has a monopoly on the eye-ware market and have thus destroyed any semblance of quality once held by the brand. At this point you are paying premium for horrible quality product with a famous name.
I just bought titanium Rayban with Chromance lens. Will try maui jim to see if they are better. If they are then I will return my raybans. It would be more fair to compare rayban titanium with maui jim i think
I think RB is hustling while using their old reputation …maui Jim is one of the best sunglasses makers …..the quality is amazing…I have 3 maui Jim sunglasses and,I look like celebrity….I actually scared to wear it due to people staring @ me ….i recently bought the Bird by Maui Jim ….jeeeeeezzzzzuuuzz I’m not exaggerating when I say this ….people look @ me crazy because, u can tell the quality of the sunglasses from far away ….Ray Ban is average $150 …it’s better to save and buy quality….quality is always win
I had a pair of Maui Jim's that I loved for years till they got stolen , I was messing around online and found this Chromance Ray Bans at 50% off so I bought then what the heck......and while they are not bad they are far far away from what the Maui Jims offer ....they enhance the color but in a weird way and sometimes it distorts the color of some surfaces and Maui Jim never did that. What I ended up doing ? 2 days later I bought another pair of Mauis ......I will keep the RBs but Maui all the way forever .
What is the model of the maui jim are you using for the comparison test in this video? Edit: nvm, these are the maui jim wiki wiki, just got myself a pair and they are fantastic!!
The best for truck driving would be a polarized G-15 lens. The G-15 lens is great for seeing detail, distance and reduce eye strain for long distances. Hope this helps!
I say I bet you are willing to drop 300 on several pairs of Maui Jims if you really felt like it. But you chose to buy more ray bans so..you like Ray Ban better because the Maui Jim just isn't that much of a difference to worry about it for a second purchase.
@@sorrybroo8303 both brands get there lenses made in Italy @ a company called Barberini. In 2019 Luxoticca the owner of Ray Ban bought Barberini. So in a sense yes, they both are from the same company. It's just marketing. And the best sunglass brand in my opinion is Serengeti. But they also get there lenses from the same company 🤣😉😁
en chroma doesnt pop out colors it makes it easier to see if your not colorblind dont get enchomas becuase it makes the colors diffrent not more vivid and if your coorblind maui jim wont dont anything if your colorblind
Sky Kye You obviously have never tried on EnChroma’s Cx Sun, which are notched filters, not merely tinted filters. They make the red and greens REALLY stand out, especially on a bright sunny day.
I have 2 pair or raybans and just want to buy a third pair from a different brand... I'm Italian and noone here has ever heard of Maui Jim. Only rayban and oakley. Plus, I have a friend of mine who works for Luxottica who suggested me to buy a pair of oakley prizm, 'the best lenses of the market' so is a battle between Oakley and Maui Jim. The thing I dislike the most about Maui is that logo, a crappy copy of the Ray-Ban's one
