@@africanpastor4458 I love my current Maurice Lacroix Globe Reveil Masterpiece and to be honest dont see myself selling it. I got a good deal on Rolex YM a year ago and bought it, so the need of Aikon edition just went away. I kept an eye on it though and the good thing is that it keeps its resale price quite well.

It's absurd to assume that the most commonly cited reason behind why people buy this watch is for the endeavor of scratching that Royal Oak itch at a "cheap" price. Completely absurd. Their bezels don't even look alike in the slightest. Assuming one of the possible reasons behind it is some pretentious, elitist, condescending BS, then let's cubbyhole that snobbery; in addition to the doublespeak allusion of 1) it being a "poor man's" option of the Genta designs and 2) assuming one of the reasons as to why people would buy it is to get that Royal Oak/Nautilus look. Maybe people want it because it looks awesome of its own merits, regardless of the price, and irrespective to the existence of the Royal Oak. At best, you can say that it draws some inspiration from the DNA of Genta's design. Otherwise, if you're going to categorize every derived steel dress-sports watch with some bezel design with a flair, a similarly looking dial, and integrated bracelet more into the homage territory, you may as well as well dub most oyster cases today following the inception of Rolex's oyster case in the same light. The idiosyncratic design of the bezel and bracelet looks quite original, robust, and full of character. In fact, I find it more much attractive than the Nautilus and Royal Oak. Instead of "AP feel at a price point of ML", it's wiser to evaluate the Aikon on its own merits, and decouple it from the Royal Oak.

Engineer, i can't choose from the aquaracer (the same your reference) and the aikon. can you tell me something about them, from your point of view? if you must buy only one of the two, which one you prefer? thanks a lot for your response.

Andrew Lee yeah it’s a polarising bezel for sure. Sometimes when you overstyle a piece less is more. I could live with it. The bracelet looks very nice at the price. When buying ML write off the purchase price so buy for keeps. There’s never any depreciation in a watch you don’t sell. Show me a better piece for the price. Sure, it’s a tribute piece but has a character and charm of its own. Good size for the bigger guys too. 200m water resistance is a bonus. C’mon let’s not knock the affordable everyday luxury pieces. At least you’ll not have a heart attack with the odd scratch or ding. It’s a like from me!

I would advise buying the black version with metal bracelet and buy a black leather strap. They're so easy to change! I went to buy the blue one today but as soon as I saw the black one I changed my mind for several reasons, the black has a color matched date window where the blue dial has a white window which I didn't like. Also I didn't think the blue leather strap would look as good as a dress watch. Really happy I went with it. The equivalent price Tag Heuer would get you a quartz Formula 1 which doesn't look half as nice or exclusive.

@@TimeAndCrown if i was buying a watch only as a casual or sporty then I'd consider the blue with a metal strap, silver looked ok but the black has the dial contrast and looks subtle and sophisticated. Unfortunately the dealer has the black leather straps on order but I'm sure it will look good from what I've seen online. Smart enough watch to wear with a suit.

These watches don't go up in value. Only the holy trinity and rolex go up in value whether you buy it retail or in the grey market. So if you like just go for it but don't expect it to rise in value cause it just won't

It is a quartz, yes. But it is available as an automatic version too with the ETA 2824-2. I don't know much other than it's called the Monterey Eterna Matic. Happy hunting :)

Yeah that was the one I was after, the seller thought it was but when it arrived it was obviously the quartz model. But the seller sent me back 100$ to say sorry for his mistake so I'm going to keep it haha ;)

@@MrBacchus18 Imo its not worth to spend that much for a quartz watch. Think about it, for that amount you can get excellent mechanical watches like the sinn 104.

I've seen these being sold for anywhere around $1,000-$1,300 in the pre-owned and/or grey market. So if you're looking to get one of these and don't want to lose too much money, I'd avoid buying at retail

COSC is +6 -4. You've probably mixed COSC up with Rolex Superlative Chronometer rating which is +2 -2.

וואי לא טוב עם האנגלית ובעברית. בקיצור אני גם קונה את הזיוף גם ככה אף אחד בישראל לא מכיר את AP. ואלה שמכירים בחיים לא ידעו שזה זיוף. תראה בפורומים. זה עולה 400 דולר

It definitely borrows some design cues, but a copy? The royal oak as a tonneau case, this one does not. The royal oak has an octogonal bezel, this one is round. The royal oak has screws while this has claws, and the pattern in the dial is also different... this watch is no more a copy than the Laureato, the Nautilus, the Big Bang, and even the Overseas.

That's like saying that the Seiko SKX is a Rolex Submariner copy. Just because it's the same style doesn't mean it's a copy...
