If Pollini had played only the "precipitato" in his whole life, that would be enough to place him among the greatest (or, at least, most powerful) pianists of XX century
I've listened to many different versions of this piece, but I always come back to Polliini's interpretation - it just seems more true to Prokofiev's vision than any of the others...
meh --- a bit brittle and brusque (unshaped tunes) at the front, and by now his ending is no longer unusual at all, everyone whips it off brilliantly. Excellent for the day, does not for me hold up like Gould's.
