I saw an ad for Maurten Gel 100 in the days leading up to the Berlin Marathon. The ad had Eliud Kipchoge on it. So of course, I had to buy it. It took a couple days for the 12 pack to get to me, and I took it out for a test run on my 15 mile long run last Saturday.
Overall, the gel works. It kept me at an even keel the entire run, which is probably better for me than the 100mg caffeine I get with each of the gels I usually eat. But, the pack is bulky and heavy, the consistency takes some getting used to, and they're ridiculously expensive.
I think these might be optimal for winter running where I don't have water fountains to rely on during my runs and where carrying water is suboptimal. But I don't know if these are great for when you've got to stuff a couple in your running shorts.
Thanks for watching. Leave a comment to let me know you stopped by!
