I have one in 308 and love it. If you take the Polly out of the stock you will be amazed what you can fit in there. I have an emergency blanket,maglight, compass,peasant knife,five more rounds,Zippo,oiled rag and a pull through and a whistle. And the maglight has around 20meters of 40 pound braid with a heap of electrical tape wrapped around it. It has given a little more weight in the stock and due to the rag and Cole's blanket it does not rattle. And it is most definitely a shooter.

A recent group from a once fired barrel back from a hunt produced first three shots easily within an inch (half inch) and then three shots outside. No cool down. Nosler partition. Old dependable. Two deer for two shots.

The thread protector is actually longer for a reason it is supposed to stick out slightly further than the muzzle in order to help protect the muscle crown from damage if the rifle was dropped

Yeah nah. The one they sent was off the shelf with 5mm over hang ..Got one made by Gunworks with checked a grip pattern and fitted perfectly.

I love the feel of mine it just welds right up to my face very consistent the barrel rifling is more like 19" in non magnum calibers cause they measure from the chamber lugs cause its a press fit barrel chamber all in one and the price was cheap also it kicks a lot cause its so light in my 06 cant imagine in the magnums lol. I ended up filling the barrel channel and bedding the front and back also made a pouch with vacuum seal bag filled with plumbers putty to fit in the but stock that tamed her down alot and its a tack driver now with a few factory ammo. thanks for the vid not alot of info on these

Its still fed on full crimped new brass. Only partition used, humanely kill is top priority on the list.. Has it been the 5 shot under a minute? Yes and no proper barrel cool down. Things always tighten up when the simple Lee neck collet die comes out.

@@gruntboy4evva Haven't used either in new models. But would be keen to try the 5 R rifling in either the American or Hunter. I'm sure the Aussies can make a good rifle.

I picked up the 308 of this back last March here in NC, when all this nonsense started put 600 though her so far. She's good to go for the price

Long action seems wasted on a 308. 270 better down range energy... so that was my logic for a 270/M18.

@@bootsandgear there a tree in front of me every two foot, and 308 is way more common then 270 here. One out of every three households contains a 308 here.

@@joeydamiani86 Well I have two. 270 is as devastating at short distances and you can never have too much range. Couple of years ago I choked and passed up a Sika show winner at 150 meters when I was hunting with my little 7.62x39 just after my finder dog died in a flood.

Got the exact same 270 blued. Not picky at all with ammunitions and easy to reload for. Plenty of space in the mag and the land are a good 0.5 cm longer than average great for modern projectiles...I have few interesting loads for it, this hunting one could be of interest: AR 2209/55.3grain, CCI 200, Federal Brass, full copper 130 Nosler Etip @ 3135fps ( 130 Etip bullets are longer than the 150 VLD...) If the M18 comes nicely to the shoulder it also kicks like a mule the pad is absolutely useless imo and mine caused a serious rattling when on the move so I stuffed the back with my ear plugs 😂 and it works...also the bolt shroud like to bite my thumb and obliged me lower my hand on the grip or else...I like the stock it works well with the action but it was touching the barrel out of the box and had some noticeable flex when shooting off hand and prone so I had to remove a good 2mm each side. But dispute all the those details it's a great light shooting rifle for hunting. I wish this rifle was offered with a Ceracoat finish in Australia ...

@bootsandgear 3 года назад
Thanks. The blue on the Mauser is a little light for NZ wet conditions. The bolt stop wasn't cerakoted and it tends to rust up a little too easy. Had a Sauer and it would rust up nicely in the damp bivvy overnight. They have Cerakoted the Sauers in NZ aswell. The Japanese Browning has thick blue. With the Partition shot three Sika on adrenaline . All ran 30 to 70 yards dead. Obviously not a fast opening, big mushroom as the round nose Pro Hunter kind but the Partition is ever dependable.

you need a scope right= don't you- so with out a scope you have a 10 meter rifle. no iron sights no bayonet to poke something, you have a club.

Leupold PRW 30mm low . I've got a Leupold Freedom on it now in 1 inch PRW low on a rail because the bells bigger than the Kahles.. Its as good in low light. Sold the Kahles and got two Freedoms for the same amount. The Mauser can shoot. Their next model up in NZ, the 12 is nearly three times the price! How I have it now is the best value firearm around.

@@Peter-od7op My recoil lug is solid fitted in stock. That being said it won't neatly fit back into place all the time. There is a little play in it and need to manually line it up so its nice and even in the channel. Its not a nice tight fitter like a Tikka.

The bedding looks like a weak point on the rifle. I wish it was proper aluminium pillar bedded like a kimber Hunter...
@bootsandgear
@bootsandgear 3 года назад
It is a different setup using the trigger group as a rear pillar bedding, front recoil lug is like Remmy, T3 etc... Shoots ok though.
@serverlan763
@serverlan763 3 года назад
@@bootsandgear Right makes sense. It's interesting watching makers get around the whole bedding issue on the cheap. They often used to use just a bit of wood to create up pressure on the barrel at the end of the forend barrel channel such as with the Rem BDL. Now they are trying all kinds of new methods. I guess if it works it works...
