This was actually my first roller coaster ever. I rode it in 2013 when they had the older restraints and I didn't mind them. The line had a 5-10 minute wait, so I was SO lucky.
I’m going to have to do that to my sister, an 8 year old coaster enthusiast who for the first year can ride Maverick, Wicked Twister, Gatekeeper, and of course Steel Vengeance
The heartline roll after the launch was not removed due to technical issues. It was removed because Sandor Kernacs rode it after course completion and he passed out from it's intensity so they removed it two weeks prior to opening day.
soooo one person passed out ? that's it? i know it's not the same -- passing out is an actual health concern -- but ive blacked out (i'd call it a grey out but i literally couldn't see at all--everything went full black) on some many rides, like on millennium force, and it's just something you deal with...if you actually pass out, just don't go on it again...?...like i know heartline rolls are intense or something, but aren't they supposed to to keep you from passing out/greying out? or am i wrong.....idk i feel like that dude just had other health issues going on....but i wouldn't know, as ive never been on maverick when it had that element
Chris Bilbrey According to cedar point, it was removed due to excessive stress on the wheels of the front car of the train which would have required frequent replacement
I recommend riding this either as a single rider or going in a group of three. People like riding together, so you can usually jump a large portion of the line when they ask for a single rider and you speak up! Also, I think the key to this ride being so awesome is that instead of just banking right or left, it acts like it's banking right before actually banking left and vise versa!
Up until 2015 this was my second favorite, with millennium beating it only because of the restraints. When I rode it in 2015 for the first time, it immediately went to the top of my list.
At Cedar Point yesterday, I honestly didn’t expect much from this. Looking at it from the outside, it doesn’t look crazy fast, I think mostly because it doesn’t really have a huge hill. Also, it is sandwiched between both Millennium Force and Steel Vengeance (AMAZING RIDE), which both dwarf it in size. All of that aside, this ride has such amazing whiplash.
Not the tallest or fastest, but one of my favorite coasters! Truly felt like I was riding a miniature version of Intimidator 305 because of the rapid speed going up the lift hill and then the sudden banking turns, but dare I say more of an overall fun ride. Now, can you imagine if if it had an even taller drop with that angle and a faster speed? Hahahahaha
I just rode this coaster and let me tell you. Most intense ride I have had in my life. Loved it. My friend didn't tell me about the beyond vertical drop and it caught me off guard but I loved it 😂
I'm from the Sandusky area, so of course I hadn't been there in probably 16 years. I worked for a company that made deliveries around the back of the park, and would get excited seeing the rides as I'd drive around to the back. The first few years Maverick was there, I didn't know what it was called, but it looked so frigging awesome. I finally got to ride it 2 years ago, and I didn't know anything about it, but it's my favorite now. Meanstreak used to be my favorite. I've liked wooden coasters.
This ride is friggin AWESOME! I've been on this twice and both times I came off it screaming "hell yeah!" It is such a rush, and provides great intensity. It may even be more forceful than Skyrush! The restraints are awesome and comfortable too. They do not subtract from the ride at all. I remember when I took my little brother to this ride. He came off screaming "That was a GOOD pony!!" The things adrenaline rushed 12 year olds say...
and here we are, 8 years later, and this thing would still get people hyped to try it out if it was built today. not too bad for a 100 feet coaster imo 😀
I've ridden it with the hard restraints. That was painful! It made me not want to ride it again, but I gave it another chance after I heard they made some changes. So much better! I love this ride!
A few years ago, they had even more theming in the tunnel. There used to be train crossing lights just before the launch, with a long row of mine themed lights on each side of the track during the launch. No idea why they got rid of those lights, but i miss them.
I went to Cedar Point this last weekend!! June of 2017. I totally agree with your review. I had the fast pass with my daughter and her other half. I totally love this coaster. I wish king island had an intamin coaster. But the size of millennium force just takes my breath away. I can't wait to ride Intimadator 305 at the Dominion!!
I agree about it being the perfect coaster. What's not to like about it. Been going to Cedar point since 1979 one of the best additions they did there. Great videos keep up the great work.
It's my #1 favorite ride ever!!! Now, trying to talk my son into it because he's tall enough this year!! He got on his first big ride which was Maxair(140ft in the air) so I'm being hopeful 😁
I rode this with the hard restraints and it's my #2 behind I305, but this could become my new #1 if I end up riding it with the new soft restraints. Also @ 1:34 it's not one of the most forceful coasters at CP, it's THE most forceful one of them all.
I just rode this on my first trip to Cedar Point last week, and idk what people are talking about with these soft restraints, because this was one of the most uncomfortable rides I've ever had. Felt like getting karate-chopped in the side of the neck about a dozen times.
I hadn't rode a coaster in 15 years prob. this was my 2nd followed by the gate keeper and it was dark. I never even seen the track before i got on it, besides what you could see by waiting in line. It was 11pm so it wasn't much, and I didn't know what to expect. The g-force is off the wall crazy. can't believe it is only 105 ft tall ....very very awesome ride. def my fav from cedar point. it throws you one way then the next, and the long wait in line is worth is for the 2:30 ride, when some of the others are only 17 secs. totally awesome coaster. i give it a 10 too!!
My favorite coaster! 😃 it is awesome and despite of it not being very tall, it packs a lot of punches which makes it super thrilling. If you've never been to Cedar Point before and you do end up going there, I highly recommend this. Especially at night
Coaster Studios the last time I went to cedar point it was a rainy Thursday with no lines. I was able to ride this particular one 5 TIMES in a row without any sort of wait. Only stopped riding it to meet up with another friend
the first time i been on this is may of 2019 i didnt expect the launch to be that forceful! but ive been on it like 30 ish times!!!! kind of better then steel vengeance, but im just gonna go with the more popular vote SV! i have 100 credits!!!
The thing I like about this roller coaster is that it’s unexpected it stops the ride in a tunnel, completely, and out of nowhere you hear noises and light starts flashing then you blast 70 mph
I went to Cedar Point last year, and the ride had a 2 hour line every 3 days i was there, even the FAST LANE was 30 minutes, but get the fast lane, even if you dont, ride it its AWESOME
The view is so nice in this video with that boat in the background..Perfect location for a rollercoaster..I shall see what this ranks with me when I take my trip to Ohio this summer will any of the rollercoasters over throw my #1 and #2 spot in [1]Iron gwazi, and [2] Goliath (sfog)we shall wait and see...
A few years ago, the tunnel had a fair amount of theming. There were train crossing lights when you entered the tunnel that even had the bell sound effects, and when you launched there were mine shaft lights that lined the tunnel all the way to the end. They also used to play old western music in the station. I wish they'd bring it all back.
All i can say is this. I've rode Maverick only TWO times, once with the Hardshell OTSR and the other time being with the soft OTSR and just be the restraint difference this is a totally different ride. The turns with the hardshell restraints where brutal if you didnt extend your head out a little bit. I was amazed at te difference when I went in October lst year and rode it again. I agree with you though on why you gave it a 10/10. I also feel like MAYBE (If Intamin could fix some of their bugs) that more Cedar Fair park's should have some of these coasters!
I do plan on riding this coaster on Friday at least once. I do remember it being very forceful, so, for me, it's a once per visit ride. But, still good. 😊
Yes I’ve rode Maverick and it is AMAZING I do wish I’ve road it with those hard restraints just to say i did it with them but yeah 10/10 rollercoaster 🎢
This is my favorite ride there I was pleasantly surprised by it. it may not be tall but it packs a lot in quickly and I too was surprised by the second launch.
Before when they had the hard restraints, I wasn't a big fan of this ride because it kind of beat you up. But once they put the soft restraints on it, it was incredible how much better and more re-rideable it was! I have always gotten off this ride cracking up at what insanity I just went through :D I still like Millennium and Dragster better, because on Dragster that launch is unbelievable (although Maverick's ultra forceful launch in the tunnel didn't disappoint!) and I'm a sucker for speed and height, and because on Millennium it's just so much fun to feel the wind in your face for such a long time, and it has lap bars instead of OTSRs, and that first drop OMG (even though it sometimes makes me gray out, but not as much as Gatekeeper's first drop), but for me Maverick is right behind those at #3! Excited to see where Steel Vengeance will land! Hoping to make it up there next year I live in FL and didn't make it this past season… (sad face)
The turn after the launch can be a little shacky on the head in the back because of the forces but other than that silk smooth (OMG IM IN LOVE WITH THE AIRTIME ON THE FIRST DROP) I deffinetly recommend rifding this in the back
first time I road it I didn't know about the launch and was pleasantly surprized. cedar point is 1 of my favorite park's other than kings island just bc its my home park. nostalgic. but I do like cedar points focus on thrills
I used to think this was nothing special and didn't like the old neck breaker restraints but with the intimidator style straps I loved it the last time I rode it, I was only able to ride it once the last time but I was very impressed with the strap restraints (also why I love intimidator now)
Last year I brought my friend to Cedar Point and we decided to ride Maverick first since we had early entry. Well, she wasn't ready. We hadn't ridden it yet and we thought she would be okay, she wasn't. She closed her eyes the whole time and when it finally got dark and we slowed down. She was relieved, but right when she had a moment to catch a breath, the 70 mph launch started. I felt so bad for her and the only thing she would ride after that was Iron Dragon.
+Moreitsdavid I guess though there is the technical terming of "launch" and then just the subjective experience. I agree that it doesn't really "feel" like launch, it's a little slow. But the second launch is a launch.
I love Maverick, it was the second coaster I've ever rode. But Millennium Force is number 1 to me still idk why it just got me more excited but I do love Maverick.
Intamin Blitz coasters are the best type of coasters. I've haven't ridden this one but Taron in Europe is the fastest Blitz coaster and it is my favorite ride so far. It doesn't have a 95% angle drop tho.
First ride of the day, Shooting up the hill with the morning breeze rolling off the lake; forget about it, best terra coaster ever. Although at the end of the ride, while waiting to get off, there is some element of thigh torture after the rough ride as the bar does tighten.
That is a bad ass ride...also it should note....that the s curves are part of the downwards of the hill...until you hit that air time hill as i call the jump....cause it feels like a jump....and it hits the top of that banked curve quick after that launch....it used to stop in the tunnel when it first opened....
Maverick is my 1a!! Hey Taylor, ever notice that the beginning of maverick(after initial drop), is the end section of El Toro after the same ejector-air drop(those awesome s turns)
I was on cheetah hunt a few weeks ago and those restraints kill your shoulders, especially if you keep your hands up. Wish cheetah hunt had more than one inversion though, Maverick is a bucket list ride for me now.
I rode the Maverick on it's opening year, with the third inversion and it's hard restraints. I loved the ride then and I would love it even more now. The only reason It's not my favorite is probably because I rode Bizzaro @ Six Flags New England often, because it's my home park.
