The look on Maverick's face says it all. He loved Goose like his brother. After losing him, he was just numb, hurt, angry for not being able to save him but he kept his memory alive. Keeping his dog tags until he parted with them at the ocean. Maverick reminds me of my brother who served the U.S. Air Force. Always respectful with great manners; ma'am, sir, please, thank you, and being courteous/caring in his actions even when he was pushed to the limits. My family and I were brought up this way; to have manners but to stand up for what is in our hearts. Sunset is absolutely serene🌅
i was 10 when top gun came out.of course wanted to be a pilot like every other kid...father said gotta do your homework and get good grades.. after he told me you have to do 4 years college and then flight school they MIGHT let you near a jet to train.long story short i became a plumber lol
I watched the same movie when I was a toddler and have wanted to do the same thing ever since. I’m starting my first year of college and am hoping to transfer into an NROTC program or the USMMA to get a naval officer’s commission. Not sure if I’ll ever achieve my goal but I’m sure as shit gonna try for it!
It's Sunday morning right now and I lost my dad to COVID-19 complications almost 2 months ago. We both loved Top Gun and my dad was one of my greatest influence as to why I chose my career path, he was like Duke Mitchell. I gotta say, losing him really shook me up and made me lose some of my confidence, I was at the top of my class and ever since he left, I fell down the ranks. Now this scene sums up everything that I'm feeling right now. I'm heading back to class tomorrow and a lot of people are counting on me, I don't wanna let them down and I don't wanna throw away my career, I love it so much. So I have to fight, just keep on pushing.
This is definitely a father/son movie. If only people were as nice as Viper. Viper and his family remind of the quintessential friendly American family that seems to be missing nowadays. Sorry for your loss.
I've lost my best friend by cancer. I can't stop listening this soundtrack. I'm trying to overcome his void...it's incredibly tough and I'm tired. I have to fly again, I think, soon or later. But I don't have the strength.
@@seanjoseph1700 I have researched many topics. Watched all Tom Cruise movies (even Vanilla Sky). But I am yet to find out or figure out how to get a life. Maybe turn to the bible?
I'm not surprised this was made in 1986. America's psyche was hurting with the Challenger tragedy and they needed a movie that would make you feel good to be American lift up your spirits. That movie was Top Gun. Of course it was feel good propaganda.I believe the moral of the movie was that anyone can triumph over adversity. And while the Challenger tragedy proved that America is not flawless, and mistakes do happen they will bounce back on their feet in strength. Great movie.
Inbound F14 against a beautiful orange sunset . Mav straddling his ninja . Goose Dies playing in the background . Man , I wore out this section of the vhs rewinding that part of the film . Classic .
I have always loved this movie and my mother is gone, she passed away seven years ago, I miss her so much, I would give anything to have her come back 😢
im here now at this moment..alone drinking a beer...thinking about life..............by lucky thing i click on this video on the feeling is the same so im not so alone.... :)
And it was at that moment, that Maverick realized that in order to truly follow in Duke Mitchell's footsteps, he had to follow his own path, rather than those of his famous father.
Mav wanted to fly (more than anything). He just felt he couldn't overcome the emotional barriers once he was airborne. He was too hard on himself. None of it was any of his fault. Keep sending him up.
It's funny how life changes in this movie at this scene. When him and goose go to top gun it's too be the best then in this scene it's digging inside too carry on doing this career.
@airtonspectre : This movie can apply to so many people and generations. To ME, the most important part of the meaning of this movie is: "The choice is all yours, all yours". Beautifully spoken and acted by Viper, Or Tom Skirritt, your choice. Anyway, I live my life between my legs and I am proud to be an American and an avid Top Gun Fan!!!
Brilliant! everything in this scene is brilliance!!! My most watched movie of all time, one of the most inspirational and influential + one of my life's favorite!
@@trevorroeder117 hope you are doing well mate i watched Top Gun Maverick it was fucking epic but it still couldn’t come close to the original in my honest opinion it was good but not Top Gun 1986 good (Watched Top Gun Maverick twice in cinema now waiting till it gets released on the web)
Believe it or not there is some realism to this movie. It isn't uncommon for senior officers and senior NCOs to talk to junior NCOs or in this case a junior officer and give them guidance That commander lecture to the Lt was pretty true, he can either keep in the military keep flying or quit.
E mesmo assim o que veio daquele canteirinho de flores não é tão importante quantos seus sonhos....mas acrescentou algo a mais... O senso se dever está nos ombros daquele menino.(fã do Tom Cruise)!
yea i remember this scene from topgun....during my senior year in highschool, i lost my edge in tennis because my 1st ex gf dumped....yea your right airtonspectre up there we have to push it...thats our job
Speaking of Challenger, this movie was scheduled to be previewed to a test audience on Tuesday 28 Jan or Wednesday the 29th. It was postponed a week or too because Goose's tragic death was an eerie resemblance.
tom cruise as Maverick looks like exactly my Jimmy! My Jimmy wants to become a pilot too...! and I want to become a pilot too! we're going to become a pilot couple :P
1:17 if that is at Miramar at the east end of the runways, I have been pretty much right where he is sitting...Went for the Miramar airshow a couple years ago and got special parking and to get there you go through a field which is actually at the very end of the runway. Theres also a sign that says, "DANGER, LOW FLYING AIRCRAFT." My dad wanted to take it and put it up on the wall at our house hahaha.
