Nothing. They might do something but do not need to make a move on draft night. Mavs have 5 players locked in. If they can dump enough salary to resign DJJ thats 6. My dream offseason would be THJ and Exum for DFS - Mavs save 4.4M this year, Nets save 15.4M next year Green, Maxi, Hardy, Omax, Powell 2025 1st and 2031 1st, plus 2 2nds for Dejounte Murray saves Mavs another 7M Resign DJJ with the 11M in savings. Awesome top 8. I know there is redundancy with Murray but I loved the 3 guards lineups in 2022, and Kyrie and Murray are way better versions of Brunson and Dinwiddie. I also know its not really feasible because its 8 guys, Lawson is 9, resign Morris is 10, still need to sign 4 minimum guys to be compliant. (Bullock 11, Boban 12?) 7 end of the bench guys is fine right?
thats disengenuous. THJ is a better player and was here way longer than curry. I agree they don't owe him anything but lets not act like THJ and Curry are the same class of player
I think the mavs will try to get one more pick in the second round and draft players that can work in the rotation from day 1. That would help salary cap wise.
@@jmaxwell5314 we endend up getting a young 3eD guy that can spot-up shoot 3s for us. He is only 20 years old, but his style looks like a plug in player. Lets see what nico is cooking in the next days
Schmoozing = building/maintaining relationships. Better vibe when put this way. Yes, working together with THJ's agent doubles the number of contacts that Harrison can reach out to for this trade to be successful.
Grimes isn't a legit upgrade on Green with Green with more upside. Kispert does add a 3 point ace. So they don't need to trade a greenish type for a greenish type. They need to keep green(for now) and get Kispert whose your 3 point ace. If Hardy can become that guy, then trade one later on. Good to have as many good options as possible.
@@dustinbarlow1623 Not challenging you but what have we seen in game that tells us OMAX is untouchable? I wonder if they see a second coming of Finney-Smith in him.
@@tjstreys Its his athleticism. He is 6'8 240 pounds, and can run the floor and had the highest vertical of his position group in the NBA Draft. His wingspan is 7'2. His shot was extremely shaky but at the end of the season he was knocking down open 3s, and was forcing guys into bad shots on defense, albeit it be in garbage time. Just keep in mind if we started the season off with Gafford and a healthy Kleber, Lively would not have seen the court. I know its a novel idea, but for high ceiling guys to grow, you actually have to play them. Hardy shoots 38% from 3 for his career, Irving shoots 39%, Brunson shoots 39% for his career. Point being if Hardy were to leave he would be a top flight scorer on a guard needy team. Its imperative we upgrade our starting lineup in regards to wings, while keeping our under 24 year old talents in tact. Jaden Hardy is 21 years old, compare his rookie numbers to Jalen Brunsons and get back to me. Brunson was 21 to start his rookie year, Hardy was 19 when he started his.
I really dont want Jeremi Grants Horrible Contract he reminds me of the Wesley Matthews tenure in Dallas pleasd dont make the Same Mistakes they did to dirk and not go all out with Talent dont Waste Lukas prime
His contract isn’t even bad lmao he’s had all defensive votes and avgs 20 a game and shoots over 40% from 3 on pull ups and catch and shoot, OG just got 40 mil a year and he’s easily a tier below grant offensively but an elite defender instead of a great one. Isiah hardenstien is asking for over 20 mil a year, Dillon brooks makes over 20 mil a year, kuzma makes like 25 mil a year, jerami grant is pretty easily better than any of those players and makes what 30 mil a year only has 3 years left on his contract and is 30 so his contract would matchup with kyries and he’s 2 years younger than kyrie, so ig kyrie is a bad contract because he’s 30+ but making similar money to the people his age and better than lol. Please stfu if you have no idea what you’re talking about, his stats aren’t empty just because he’s on a shit team. If that was the case then explain gafford, explain pj, explain Derrick white on the spurs, explain mikal bridges lol he avgs the same exact as jerami but less efficient but apparently this doesn’t apply to him. Explain Andrew Wiggins going from the wolves to gsw. I swear y’all be so stupid with the pick and choosing who’s stats are fake and who’s are real.
Just one of many reasons they should have made the Deni trade. Grant right now is better offensively(but Deni would sure be the 3rd option) And then Deni is Much better Passer Defender, Great Contract(Decending even) and Young 23. Oh well. They Nico wasn't cooking that day.(Yes they have to add 2 to 3 seconds and Hardy or even Green) But this solves the problem of overpaying over paid old guys who play no defense. That's why it's worth the cost(and the fact that he's highly tradeable(Deni) in fact his contract is down to 11 mil of his last year.
What do you think about Kleber, thj and one or 2 seconds for john collins? He can play the 5, the 4 and we can have some flexibility with him and PJ. Perhaps even try pj at the 3. I also think that we could sell high on gafford and try him, green and picks for a bigger name. I just think Gafford is nearly capped in his skills and lively is already better. Not worth to have a backup so similar that can harm lively's development. In this scenario, if we can get that bigger wing name, id be ok letting DJJ walk.
The key to any THJ trade offer is to remember we get DJJ as part of the trade. Even if its not a good trade value at the moment if we know we get DJJ if we get him the full midlevel we win the trade
I made a list of about 18 players I thought the Mavs could get if they wanted to really make a splash. I kept circling back to three names: De’Andre Hunter, Jonathan Isaac and Gary Trent, Jr. This would be a THJ/Green centric deal. Thoughts?
@LockedOnMavericks When talking about which teams/players the Mavs could trade THJ for, why didn’t you take into consideration the option of trading him to one of those teams with cap space and NOT taking back a player? Nor did you mention the option of a 3 team trade with a team like the Nets and a team with cap space.
The only player I really know about him is Juan Nuñez, since I watched him with spanish national team at last world cup. He earn a spot in a very competitive team with 18 and perform well in a big stage. He is small and not an elite defender, but getting stronger by years. He is a great ball handler and passer, and a good catch and shooter. Kind of Brunson when he first came to Mavs. A good option at 58.
@@dustinbarlow1623 You loooooove Hardy! We need to trade him to Detroit. [His hometown]. He'll NEVER get an opportunity to shine playing behind Kyrie. Hardy needs his own show
@@EduardoOliveira-zx9ju Hardy shoots 38% from 3 and has a better per 36 in his first two years then Brunson. The reason we cant unload THJ is because they want Hardy not Green. THJ may be a boat anchor. Hardy is not going anywhere Kyrie named Hardy his heir apparent.
I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure all the Mavs have to do to unlock the full MLE is shed $2-3m & not the entire value of $12m like you're suggesting... It would put the Mavs in the luxury tax, but still comfortably under the 2nd apron. The Mavs could easily sign DJJ to the full mid-level by simply dumping DP... So hopefully Nico & the FO finally wake up and move on from this nightmare of over-paying a guy who could easily be out of the league.
Hey Nick. Can Mavs trade up for the 31st pick and get Filipowski? He would be a great replacement for Maxi. I mean since we’re trading THJ and Maxi or green why not get him. Sure he has his weaknesses but a third center and forward option is always important. Maxi showed that last season.
Deni was Washington best player last year at 23. Salary for next 4 years will be at 11-12 mil cheaper than what Derrick Jones will get . And he is way better at everything including defence. Dallas has 2 starts comparable in output to 2 best in Celtics but the next 3 players there are way better. Current roster in not nearly enough to compete. They need 2 more border line all stars . Signing DJ will not be enough to even repeat this year success. Deni could have been such player 16 points 8 rebounds 4 assists for 11 mil salary!!
Huge miss on Avdija .Perfect modern 6-10 wing , pass dribble shooting, rebound, 48% corner 3 . Package green , exum hardaway picks get him from blazers.
Mavs could have got Deni. Add 2 or 3 2nds and if need more add Hardy, if that's not enough, replace Hardy with Green. Then we wouldn't have to be talking about if Grant, Harris etc etc fits. They would have a young guy that checks all the boxes and for cheap(salary)
DFS is worse than any wing we have including Exum. And what do these people dont understand Omax, Lively and Hardy are going nowhere. Letting Brunson go was the worst franchise decision in a decade and Hardy was younger than Brunson when coming into the league and has better per 36 numbers than Brunson when comparing their first two years. At some point Omax, Hardy and Lively have to get significant minutes, or we run the risk of letting them go and they possibly become superstars somewhere else. We cant afford that, we have to kick that tire. I dont like the game of what if we kept Hardy would we win a chip, what if we kept Omax, we need to see what they have.
Calm down guys. Trust Nico. My prediction is we will trade up to 30-40 and pick a prospect that fell off. A lot of players picked higher than they should be so there will be another Hardy like prospect that was top 15-20 6 months ago but fell off due to guys like Zach Edey rising with hype.
@@jumbokevin still better than 40 y/o patty who can't create his shot no more.. and Hardy made strides as a playmaker this season, in the playoffs he threw 3 perfect alley oops to lively amd that can improve next year

@@erlinghaaland3 to match salaries we would trade thj and kleber and so we are definetly not getting him without 1 or 2 first round picks cause keep in mind thj value is non existent so we will most likely need to attach a first rounder just to get rid of him

I would be fine with THJ trade to Wizards for Corey Kispert. It gives Mavs ~10M and should be enough to re-sign DJJ. Kispert shot 38% from 3 on 6 attempts per game. He would be a good shooter to come off the bench. The deal financially is very similar to Quentin Grimes one. Mavs would need to send some seconds to Wizards to take a deal (I wouldn't do a first)
I think it make sense to run it back with the exception of Tim. Hopefully Brogdon is cheap and it won’t matter that he missed half the season like Exum And Maxi. I assume they’ll hold out for a 2nd round pick so whatever. He’s not worth more than that given his age, contract, injury history and fit on most teams given he’s a squatty body like Dante. He’s a good character guy and a hell of a shooter. Just go with that bunch and hope a miracle happens and someone comes available that Boston really does fear. Can’t think of anybody but hope springs eternal. Maybe LA (both) or Golden State finally decides to rebuild and offers up someone of substance, playoff-wise.
wow with maxi and Timmy being so great that every team wants them i just don't know which one to take lol it's almost like other teams don't want scrubs lol, single biggest mistake was not getting Deni
What people fail to understand is the ceiling on Omax, Lively and Hardy are extremely high. At some point you have to play them and let them grow, or trade them away somewhere where they will most likely either be an all star or be a good starting player on a team chasing a chip.
@@LockedOnMavericks Signing Jerami would mean the Mavs would be one of three teams who have two starters who shot the three at 40%+. [Kyrie/Jerami] [Celtics/Denver/*Mavericks]..............Your thoughts...
It allows the owners to not have to spend so much because they're "so limited" if they spend into the Luxury Tax ranges... it's a bad deal for the players
@@LockedOnMavericks I mean he was really good during the regular season better than a lot of players why wouldn’t no one want him…better than what most teams have
Except he isnt. He is another bad defensive player whos numbers will drop on a Dallas team. LOL you ship Hardy to Washington and hed be an all star selection. His per 36 is better than Brunsons first two years.
I don’t know I’m not excited about any of those nets players honestly, especially if it involves any of our picks , I’m cool with THJ getting traded so we can free up cash, and sign DJJ if we can’t upgrade at wing position, but Doe to me is not a crazy upgrade, cam stay getting hurt. On another note hope we keep Omax and give him some minutes next season.
The same fans and staff that said we want to reinvent ourselves with defense first want to get Jerami Grant to basically out score teams? And Thybulle… seriously if you actually watch Thybulle Nick, how do you think the Celtics would destroy the Mavs with Thybulle on defense. The way the Celtics play offense is literally Thybulle’s kryptonite.
And if they pair Kleber with THJ and only bring back 4ish mil then, you got even more cap space to sign a better replacement 3 point shooter in free agency.
i have more trust with our young developing guys stepping up next ssn than all of this names being brought up to this team. id rather have mavs run it back than loose 3 important players for this team for 1 guy. just get rid of tim and hopefully get a player back and picks then just go for continuity this upcoming ssn, if things dont workout just make moves ahain at the trade deadline. many ppl talk about teams are getting better and forgot that we made into the finals with luka injured and 5months of chemistry with this roster. omax, hardy, lawson, lively stepping up, pj and djj being more consistent, role players doing their jobs, kyrie being more aggressive, and luka staying healthy in the playoffs i think thats how the mavs will get better.
This! People need to stop acting like Lively, Omax and Hardy are dead weight, they are top 5 talents with an unrefined game. The only way you can refine your game is by getting meaningful minutes and opportunities. Hardy and Lively are ready for that next step, Omax may need a mentor or someone he can split minutes with at Wing off the bench. If we upgrade anything its the starting lineup.
Hardaway is the kind of player nowadays with w contract you have to pay people to take. What value can they possibly get back. This is why i was disspointed Nico ludiscrously signed hardaway when they shouod have traded him when he actually had some value..
Shhh don’t remind folks Nico has made a lot of fuck ups they will just blame the “old regime”. Same reason they still blame the “old regime” for Brunson walking lmao.
Brogdon would be awesome on this team, but Jerami Grant would make this a championship team. A starting 5 of Luka, Kyrie, Pj, Grant, and Lively would be insane

WE have young players with high ceilings Omax, Lively and Hardy have HIGH HIGH ceilings. They are physically gifted as top 5 picks, but parts of their game were unrefined. Sometimes you just have to let talented and gifted guys figure it out, its what Boston did.
Dorian is a step down from both PJ and DJJ, he had his shot and he sucked horribly. He cant dribble, he cant create, he cant rebound, he was Dwight Powell in a PF.
Whether it’s Thybulle or Grant the mavs will be severely weakened on one side of play with either on the court. I find it weird how mavs fans are perfectly fine with this. Minnesota got Rob. Oklahoma got Topic and Denver players will recover from injury and the Mavs?…. Grant? Thybulle? And we actually want to win the west again? Cuz PJ and DJJ will suddenly avg 20ppg??! Each
Virtually no one in the draft will help us next year and likely ever. Few guys in the 2nd round make it. More likely free agents we acquire will play next year (DJJ, Maxi,Dorian, etc). Go find the next Jones Jr clone, hopefully a little bigger……and sign him to a two year deal this time lol.
Magic trade for Anthony Black. Another arkansas player who has Length, defense and is young. Can work into the 3 point. And will help the Bench and be a 3rd ball handler.
swap green for thybulle. PoA defender solved. trade thj for a useful player. at times when djj is unplayable, options can't be josh green, grimes, exum and hardy, and expect them to win championship!

They have some of the highest ceilings in regards to young talent, they are actually setting themselves up for the future. The only way Omax, Hardy and Lively grow is if they actually take minutes over veterans who have peaked like THJ, Kleber and Exum.
Cam Johnson is definitely getable. He was awful down the stretch last year, has played in only 100 games in the last two years and is 29 in march. Three yrs left on his deal that could end up being Less than ideal if he’s not a starter. The trade would be the two 2nds, Hardaway, Maxi and Green for Dorian and Cam. Anything more and it’s an overpay. Johnson will likely be an overpaid bench guy so the Mavs will be quasi-interested if everything else falls through.
Give him away for free. He is not able to play in 3rd serbian league. He is playing based on his father friendship with half of the league. The worst player in the history of nba and larger. I am watching basket for 50 years and I never saw the worst player. Never ever. In any of the leagues.
Is it me, or does trading THJ so they can sign a guy that was on a minimum deal last year seem like taking a “step back?” The guy had been in the league for 8 years, plays next to Luka for a season and now WE’RE the ones to open up the check book? Just doesn’t seem like a smart move. The only way this isn’t taking a step back is if you upgrade the THJ spot as well. Seems like common sense that you wouldn’t make DJJ a huge priority and use maxi/thj/picks to add a third scoring option.
Yeah it's just you. True Mavs fans would trade THJ for a bag of chips. It doesn't matter what you've seen from DJJ in the past. What matters is today and our system. Not only did he silence the critcs that said we lost our defensive identity when we traded Finney-Smith, but he was a high-wire act AND made corner 3s. Thankfully Nico doesn't think like you do.
You are absolutely correct unfortunately a lot of Mavs fans and media are happy with giving the least amount of talent around Luka and demanding more and more out of him instead of demanding more talent and more out of the organization. Mavs have always had such a talent deficient roster outside of Luka and loves to give Luka a co star who can never stay healthy during the regular season and cheap out on vet mins, rookies, just below average players, low IQ players ( THJ etc ), other teams bench players forced to be starters. It’s completely embarrassing that Brunson has a way better roster than Luka has ever had.
