Double upload today! 👀 I've been trying to ramp up the content lately, hope you guys enjoy the videos, thank you so much for the support! Have an awesome weekend 🤙🏼 -Mike
Mike. Great update! I’m not sure if this works with the original Mavic 3 RC-N1 controller that doesn’t nt have a C1 or C2 buttons. I can’t even find it on their website.
For the 'at home' setup of waypoint missions, you don't have to turn on your Mavic 3, you can simply press camera connect (even though you won't actually be able to connect) and the interface will come up on the controller. Then off you go, setting up the waypoints/POIs as shown.
A good start but having to fly to each waypoint is...welll...seriously outdated. Being able to do it from the map view is a start but I assume the saving is the device, which means I can't bring different drones or switch drones part way if I have problems. I wish they would just put the SDK out so we can use things like Dronelink and Litchi to program in the web, view in 3D in google earth, and then go fly. That 3D visualization is incredibly useful, particularly in areas that you don't know. Better than nothing but so far behind what the rest of the world has been doing for years already. I was seriously considering an M3E because the SDK is out already but dropped the idea when I found DJI has taken away most of the creative options. They really haven't progressed since the P4P V2, M2P and Inspire 2 (all of which I own) and the M3 with the SDK might have been it...but sadly isn't. Right now the Autel (inc. the Autel RTK) is starting to look like the next move unless they change this marketing strategy.
Thank you for the video. I have 2 questions. 1.) Can I create just a single waypoint and use it like a tripod in the sky to return to later? 2.) How do you recall saved routes to return to the same point later? Thank you!
1 - yes I believe you can 2 - there’s a “newspaper” icon in the lower middle of the screen when you enter waypoints, this is where your saved missions are Enjoy :)
Okay🤬 You have created and saved your waypoint mission. you go to your launch site, load your mission....Now What??? where is the go button or how do you start the flight.
I have recently set up a number of waypoint ‘missions’ on my Mavic 3 Pro which work well. However on occasions if I select ‘Go’ before powering up the drone it will power up itself and fly to the first waypoint. On other occasions it will only fly up to a few metres before updating the home point and continuing to hover until another ‘Go’ command is entered. Why is this please?
Thanks for the video. Question. In your example 3 waypoint demo in this video, the next time you come back there, after you take the drone off to 1m, is that where you select the saved waypoint and hit go? And it will fly from right in front of you to the first waypoint out over the water automatically?
I’ve been sick in bed with a horrible flu and if anything would get me up it was this! Needed this all Fall with a construction progression project I had!! Thanks for the update!! This feature and the Cruise Control are awesome features that have improved my work immensely!
In short, and speaking about projecting a flight from "home", unless they modify many, many things, the waypoint module is completely inaccurate. Beginning with the maps the they should get quite a lot nearer the ground. i.e. A tower of a castle looks so little on the map..... apart from that the inaccuracy of creating waypoints with the finger.... totally unprecise..... my e-pencils do NOT work with the DJI RC PRO, so have to add points with the tip of my finger. And why the heck do I have to use the RC control for that? The lack of possibility to create waypoints on the laptop would also simplify things. Nothing difficult... if Dronelink and litchi can do it, why not DJI. If they want to improve, there should be more firmwares to come!! Any ideas coming from anyone will be welcome
Can anybody help?? I was told by DJI phone support that there is no way to transfer waypoint path files from one RC/Drone to another one. This is extremely important if I am to use this feature for any serious projects or client assignments. I cannot rely on a multi-year waypoint mission if there is a chance the RC/drone is lost, stolen, or broken. Not to mention, it would help if you had a partner that could return to the jobsite with their drone to fly the same path when you can't be there. Has anybody done this successfully?
Suppose the combination of the controller position and flight altitude makes the radio contact be lost due to shadowing trees during the route. How will that turn out?
Thank you buddy! The Mavic 2 had a polyline or arc option in waypoints to determine the flight characteristics between waypoints. Does the Mavic 3 default to Polyline?
Great video! Is the waypoints feature restricted to ONLY the Mavic drones? I was leaning towards the DJI Mini 3 Pro but after seeing this... I got some thinking to do. I can see the Waypoints feature being very helpful.
Great. I finally find a hack to select a POI at great distance in Hyperlapse course lock, and... now it's completely superceded. Was playing with this last night. Awesome update.
The reintroduction of way points into the Mavic 3 since the feature was last available in the Mavic 2 Pro/Zoom and the Mavic Pro/Platinum is fantastic. The feature greatly enhances the capability of the Mavic 3 for repeated commercial work. I hope DJI will include the way point feature in future Mavic Mini 3 Pro firmware updates. I would also like DJI to eventually allow the creation of way point missions on a computer and then have the ability to transfer them to either the DJI RC or the RC-Pro. The introduction of the way point feature also in my opinion the need for either one of the smart controllers, DJI-RC or DJI-RC Pro.
Without getting in the weeds too much, I am finding recording while flying, including setting the camera angle, zoom and heading, then saving with C1, THEN going into the studio and tweaking the recorded mission a great way to understand parameters and actions. For example: if you change global speed to custom (faster) for waypoint 3, does it fly faster TO WP3, or AWAY from it. Or if you ser ZOOM to AUTO, when exactly does it zoom? In a way, I'm happy they roll out features over time. Imaging buying a Mavic 3 today with all it can currently do. Overwhelming. Anyone Play with POI using the Tele camera? It's hit or miss, but a parallax Orbit of a spire 4 miles away at 7x is absolutely insane!
These are great questions and I haven't seen any reviews that address these important details. I haven't flown my Mavic 3 since December, but now that I know of the Dec 2022 firmware updates, I'll make time to get out there (even though tomorrow's low is -2 degrees F. Anyway, my guess is that if speed, altitude, attitude (where the drone & camera point), zoom, and/or gimbal angle are different between two waypoints, the craft will smoothly interpolate those specifications that differ so that the overall change required is achieved gradually as the craft flies from one waypoint to the next. What I don't know is whether this is a 'linear' process, or whether the rate of change varies to provide a smoother, more cinematic effect.
I’ve been told in the past, especially for complex, Hyperlapse shots, that it makes sense to start your way points at the furthest point and have it fly back towards you. It would make sense for waypoint, shooting to I would think. So when it’s done with the mission, it’s close to home in case you have a low battery. Does that make sense to you? it does to me. Or maybe position yourself midway between the farthest point in the endpoint.
Thanks for sharing! It's very helpful Waypoints tutorial video. Question: How many Waypoints and POIs we can add in a waypoint flight mission? Unlimited?
One question. if the drone loses signal from the remote or the remote powers off because of dead battery will the missing continue like Mavic 2 did or not?
It's possible the drone flies waypoint missions autonomously (NOT Virtual Stick) but still needs a constant connection to comply with the C1 qualification (label). In this case the normal 'signal loss behaviour' will be executed (RTH, Hover or Land).
Hello ! How to make a perfect circle (radius) so as not to put dots in a circle? Let's say fly away from the object and make a circle, what would then get it from memory and repeat? Thanks
It's nice that DJI is letting us pre-plan missions, but do they allow us to set them up using a computer (like Litchi)? If they did, I'd be keen to only use the DJI software.
Except at the enterprise level no DJI consumer drone even with waypoint capability allows cloud mission management.. They’d be competing with themselves.
Is this based on virtual sticks? if you upload the mission off line from the map to the drone and execute it, what happens if signal is lost? will it cancel the mission or continue as the Mavic 2 Pro did? -Great video, thank you.
I would imagine it would follow whatever “lost signal “protocol you have set such as RTH or hover in place. If you were me, I would set it for return to home.
Hi Mike, thanks for your quick notice! Would you know, if - once the drone is flying a path to a waypoint - you as pilot could control the gimble up / down as well as right / left? Regards Reinhard from Hamburg, Germany
@@DroneSupremacy Thanks for this tutorial! If you set up the waypoints and POI at home, then bring your drone to fly the mission, but the gimbal pitch is wrong, can you go into the mission you've already made and change the gimbal pitch and save it? I can imagine many scenarios where you can't possibly know what the pitch should be until you arrive at the location.
Noooo Waaaayy!!!! 😲Thats So Awesome!!!!🙌 Let me tell you... I'm so EXCITED because I just bought the Mavic 3 Classic and this will be my first Camera Drone. It will arrive next week!!!🕺🏻
@@Hummingbirdaerial I understand. I like it to get closer shots of girls without getting in their face. This new update is really good too. Good timing for you.
@@DroneSupremacy Wondering if I can set up a mission on my ipad with the Rc-n1 controller if it would transfer over or if there is a way to transfer it to the Rc pro or if it is device specific.
@@DroneSupremacy other videos are showing the option to "continue" which means this isn't just virtual sticks; this is the real thing. don't you think it's important that the drone will continue it's 30 minute mission if you lose the connection? should be an option instead of the drone giving up and returning home or just landing/hovers halfway in the process. it was there on the mavic 2, i've run several missions and had to wait for the drone to come back to within signal range. it's a beautiful thing. 😄
