I can tell you one thing that's a fact the MAVIC AIR 2 Burns a hell of a lot more battery than most drones in SPORT MODE!!! Most people are lucky to get 15 minutes in sport mode Flying all over the place.. YOU SHOULD BE USING NORMAL MODE FOR RANGE TESTS.. YOU WILL SAVE A LOT MORE BATTERY!!
Nice area! From the range tests I've seen, the vast majority of them are done in standard speed mode, not Sport mode and the range seems to increase a lot. Sport mode kills the battery crazy fast so you can't go as far. Nice job.
Excellent video buddy. This is slowly turning into my favorite bird. I love love LOVE IT.. it's AWESOME here in the city of PHILADELPHIA. YaHOOOOOOOOOOO Mikey
Man, I wish I lived this close to Garden of the Gods. Not as many cool places to fly mine in Indianapolis! Dope video though! Hype to see the rest of the series.
This is awesome, but why is my Mavic Air 2 barely hitting 1 mile distance-wise before the signal blanks out? How are you able to fly so far with such a clear signal? Any tips would be appreciated 😊
Comes down to location and height. I had mine out to 4km today over the ocean at a height of 30m in sports mode. I could have gone further because I had plenty of battery left, but chickened out. I might try further tomorrow. I noticed he had his drone at 150m high which would seem to give better reception. Other radio interference won't help either.
Late to the party on this one but with mine I find that height, physical objects between myself and the drone as well as local WiFi interference all play a huge part in range and signal strength/quality. When I fly in a remote location, I find that my signal and controller video stability are perfect up to at least 3km
You should have someone drive it out to 10 km. Put it in line of sight, and see if you can connect to the drone. Be even better if you flew it back to yourself!
Great video . How awesome to have the Garden of the Gods close to your house. The footage was awesome. Wished the batteries lasted longer. Thanks for sharing.
yes i agree its battery power but something many dont understand is the batteries are lithium ion. Running lower than 30% destroys the cells inside the battery, which affects its running time in the long term. Thats why these drones have auto return to home at a certain percentage mine is return on 40% power, also you should never store batteries at 100% charge, that also ruins the cells inside. My tip is use a battery and land on 30% then DONT charge until you want to fly again. My batteries have a 40 min usage time, landing on 30% gets me 30 mins flight time, i have 3 batteries so can get 90 mins flying time. So look after your batteries and buy extra ones for more flying time rather than ruining a battery :-)
Hi, thanks for the video. I hardly ever reach distances of 2000 meters. I sent mine in for repair in The Netherlands (I live in France) and got it back yesterday. Today, I did a range test and got 3700m. I’m fine with that but am very puzzled when I see many other videos where the Air 2 reaches close to 10k meters. I’ve been to various places in the world with little RF interference but still never achieve distances near 4K meters. I don’t understand why my drone fails to reach such distances even with solid battery life.
Good review. I’ve tested mine today and it only went 500M before signal dropped out and it wouldn’t go any further. However my Pro does. Is there settings that needs to be adjusted
i have mi drone 4k the range in mi is 4km away but if there is controler with bigger antenas for mi drone in aliexpres and it's says with those u can go 6km away but i like mavic air 2 cuz it's samller faster and u have sensors
Thanks for the post! I live in the area too and am loving my A2! Can you comment to flying over G of G? I know you can’t take off from within but I assume you can fly over from outside of?
Great video! But I have issues with the DJI Fly app, sometimes when I hit the record button, it shows that it’s recording. But by the time I’m done with my drone, I check what I “recorded” and nothing was recorded. WTF!
Iwas windy during the test and Danny stated in the video the battery was the limiting factor and not Ocusync. The Fly app is very conservative on when to trigger RTH based on remaining battery level and distance from Home Point.
I’ve gotten around 26,000 feet with the air2 21,000 withe Air2s 16,000 feet with the mini 2 my fimi 2022 was 26,000 feet and the mavic 3 was a whopping 36,000 feet all in normal mode
I think there's something wrong with your drone, it drains the battery life like CRAZY.. I have mine in normal mode and I can do 14.1 km no issues at all
That is a beautiful area and WOW the range on the Mavic Air 2 is amazing! Watched another video and someone was able to make it 5 miles out and still had just a little battery left in the tank, not much tho. I have one on order, can't wait! Will beat the h*** out of my Skydio 2's. 750 feet range! Might as well put a GoPro on a stick with the skydios.
Hi I just bought the mavic air 2 I'm a bit worried don't know if there could be something wrong with it any idea? Immediately get interference. Seems my mavic mini went further. Sometimes. I will lose video immediately but the drones continues to fly forward without video but can see the drone flying on the gps map. Any help would be great. I'm sure there is a lot of wifi in my area but as soon as I launch I start getting some choppy video.
I had the SG907 GPS Drone and it was good until today when it just flew away :( Is this drone worth the price really?. And can the cam move around in all directions?
I have tried two new Mavic Air 2's from my home and the farther I can get them is about 1.8 km (1.2 miles). After that I lose signal and the drone auto returns to home. I am by the sea, perfect weather conditions and no obstructions. Why can this be? I am very keen to get to a spot about 4 km away
Doing a range test around terrain like that will introduce interference like multi-path. For a clean test, get away from the RF clutter of WiFi’s and cell towers and stay away from that kind of terrain.
I can't go past 1200 feet with my Air 2 because I get a loss of signal warning and it starts coming Home on it's own! WTF? 1,200 feet! They need to send me a controller or drone that can do better than that!
That was cool….. Still got 5000M with no problem! I bet it could go about 10,000M with a better battery if only they made one cause its obviously pointless to go the far if the damn thing cant make it for lack of power!! But good stuff man.
It's not about flying far away it's about knowing if you got what you paid for... And the range teston the mavic air to all over the Internet when it's in a congested area is not very good doesn't even do as good as my original mavic pro in some cases where I live. The mavic pro lift up to everything they said about it including the range!!! The mavic air to their best second-generation ocusync 2.0 ( what they bragged about one of their selling points ) Does not do as well as the original mavic pro.. THAT IS A GROSS DISPLAY OF FALSE ADVERTISING!!
Garbage, sports mode uses way more battery. With Mavic drones there's an ideal cruising speed which is more efficient than hovering. BTW you should check wind before you take off not when your on the way back. That's how you lose drones.
So I watched your Switzerland Drone video and I've been playing with the thought of getting myself an fpv drone. I saw your gear in the video description, with the goggles, drone, controller, and the GoPro 8. Since I don't have any experience in flying drones, I don't know if that drone (TBS Oblivion Quadcopter) is a good decision to start flying. I also don't have a clue about how drones exactly work or what drones are good. Greets from Switzerland!
