Recent purchase of Mavic Allroad wheelset and my experience with the tubeless setup of a couple of WTB tyre models. Forgot to mention I had been running them with inner tubes on the previous wheels.
Mavic Allroad wheels i love... WTB tyres in my opinion only work on WTB wheels... and half of the time teh sidewalls 'bleed' sealant... nogo for me. I used Panaracer, Specialized and Schwalbe tubeless tyres on the Mavic Allroad wheels.... flawless. No problem with these tyres/wheels.
I’ve got some mavic road tyres on one wheelset but not tried those Allroads.. WTB do bleed a lot but the newer versions like the Raddlers are almost devoid of sidewall bleeding finally!
Hi Gravelproof, as they are hookless, do you recommend running Mavic Allroad‘s with tubes too? These wheels do look amazing. Love the clean design and sturdy quality. Thanks for the nice review. Are you happy with this wheelset? I want to buy Mavic’s Allroad SL Road+ but as I have no TL experiences yet I hope they do run with tubes well too.
Hi there! Actually I don’t remember noticing they were hookless, I am not sure that model is, I will have to check at some point, since I was setting up tubeless it wasn’t something I was checking on. They are very smart, and very strong, and really don’t weigh too much. I don’t feel like I need anything lighter. Certainly happy with them after 1000s of kms they are still running true and have had no issues whatsoever. If you are looking to run tubes tyres with inner tubes I think there shouldn’t be a problem, the spec says “UST Tubeless and tubetype”. But I would recommend going to tubeless! Is that something that would benefit from yet another video of tubeless tyre setup? 😂
I have those wheels and I want to make them tubeless but I tried to get the panaracer gravelking sk to beed without liquid (successfully) but I'm losing all the air from the valve hole. I assumed the were tubeless ready and the tape was the green cover they already have. Luckily I did a test without liquid. Did you have to put tape?
I didn’t get any tape with mine.. I just bought tubeless tape from a bike shop, so yes, I had to put tape on the rim.. personally I would recommend a proper rim tape not duck tape or something like that as cleanup is a pain!
Can you tell me the tooth count on that version off their star ratchet type setup? Just wondering if they were the 16 or 40 tooth ones? How do you like the wheels so far?
I’ve got a set of WTB Nano sand they are almost impossible to install on my Mavic Allroads. I can hardly get the first bead over the rim. What tyres do you find the easiest to mount on your Allroads?
I’ve had no problems with WTB Raddlers, Riddlers or Resolutes. Not had a need to switch to another brand as of yet on those rims. Have you tried those tyres on any other rims?
