Max Bygraves and the cast of 'Eastenders' perform a Cockney knees-up at the 1986 Royal Variety. The announcer says that this is Max's 18th Royal Variety Appearance.... With thanks to Neale for this clip!
What I love about this clip is that it reminds me how good EastEnders was when it first started, with memorable, likable characters and an emphasis on close families talking about their worries and pulling together. Now it's just vile stereotypical Cockneys shouting at each other.
now thats when eastenders was worth watching and what have we got to today in eastenders rowing shouting these were the best days of tv thx god for you tube

Sue Tully seems a bit uncomfortable and maybe embarrassed at the start until she’s joined by the others and gets more into it. Anita’s wearing the outfit Angie wore to Michelle & Lofty’s wedding! Surprised Linda appeared in character as Mary, all punked up, for such a short segment.
Iv always watch Eastenders right from the start ,Now It’s terrible all it is now shouting at each other or scamming,If that eastenders for you Thay can keep it ,So very unsafe all the London eara
