I used to stay up late on the weekends as a kid & catch this show...LOVED IT. They need to resurrect Max in a similar format & air it on Adult Swim. It'd be way easier to do the whole Max/make-up bit nowadays---it could be done with pure CGI & a Voice-Over!
Matt Frewer has also had an amazing career in horror, having appeared in several Stephen King miniseries, most notably "The Stand" wherein he performs admriably as "Trashcan Man" and as Mr. Carver in "Desperation".
TheHasmith99 A fully CGI Max Headroom could move more like a cartoon character, and would also have a greater range of facial expressions, instead of just glitching a bit like the rubber mask version.
+DevilMaster the only rubber max uses is on he`s hair no more no less matt frewer use`s he`s own face the only time there was a rubber mask was in the pirate stream who wasn`t headroom max
This is pure television gold! Even though, every single word of that "interview" was completely scripted. Talk about a memory! If you drove around in New York City during the 1990's, that opening of Max's windshield getting cleaned, was a real blast to the past!
@@525Lines Very definitely an homage. Space Ghost had the rambling interview style and tendency to chase completely unrelated discussion threads, while Zorak was the biting sarcasm.
I saw him in that episode, and even remember his show"Doctor Doctor", I hardly watch TV anymore but haven't really heard anything about him in years,I figured he'd moved off to writing and production. It would be good to have Max Headroom return though,I think it could be refreshing for TV. His show was strange, but much in the 80's really was, there were so many new channels going up,that producers were willing to try almost anything.
When he asked the star wars defense question, and Shatner said Give it to education, I just put him No.1 as the awesomest person in the world. This was 85? Wow if only we'd listened.
Webmax96 Instead of the military getting funds for weapons and R&D. The youth the schools, the teachers would get funding instead of run down, unqualified uncaring schools and teachers alot of poor cities have now. Which creates a high drop out rate, teen pregnancy, drug use, violence, high welfare rolls public assistance.
My favorite scene from "The Max Talking Headroom Show" was (newspaper spins) Max and Cinemax on talks on train! (newspaper spins) Talks break down (newspaper spins) Talks resume! Train breaks down! (newspaper spins) Talks and train resume (newspaper spins) Max Breaks down! (Doctors blame spinning newspapers).
I Accidentently bought a Bootleg Maxheadroom Boxset on Ebay many moons ago, it had everything Max headroom was ever on I thought they were in North American Format but the tapes were in Pal Format and didn't have that kind of VCR, to make a long story short I was pissed and the tapes are still in the attic after all those years (since 1996)
There's the posibility that you can put the episodes of the season of this video here on youtube? nobody would do it, never! and it's sad. I would really apreciate it with all my heart, thank you... (sorry for my bad english)
Bill Shatner's still around and doing as good as ever.Gotta hand it to the guy,he's managed to stay in the game pretty well. Whatever happened to Max though..
Thank you so much for getting all super-geek on me there, friend. Yes, I know it was only once, as DR. Berlinghoff Rasumsen, in "A Matter of time"... I was simply trying to entice the original commenter to research Matt Frewer. Do you always feel the need to prove your ultimate trek knowledge in irrelevant situations?
It seems like improv, but given the density it must have been scripted front to back - and the studio furniture... they definitely don't make them like this anymore.
@sickcartoons I meant the music video show's not the TV action series. Dont get me wrong I liked the action series. But I wish I could have seen those Music Video shows.
This is cool. I just bought the entire Max Headroom show on DVD and it is an excellent show that deals with subject matter that was well ahead of it's time. I really hope that the release of the show on DVD will bring Max back into the spotlight and maybe result in some sort of a re-make. Matt Said if the offer every came along he would get on board without question and step back into the shoes of Max Headroom
Mr. William Bill Shatner, Hi Bill! I am 67 years old and have watched you most of my life throughout your career. Although I was never a Star trek fan I saw you perform in Twilight Zone's "Creature at 20,000 Feet", also your Rocket Man solo (fabulous) and most recently on an American pickers episode about decorating your office and the house with the millstone! Of course you were a class act working with George Foreman, Henry Winkler and nasty Terry Bradshaw on "Better Late Than Never", a wonderful show in 2016. My wife and I both enjoyed Better Late Than Never although Bradshaw's nasty ways probably got it cancelled! Winkler too! Only you and old George where the class acts. I have been meaning to write to you for a very long time. My wife and I met when we were 15 years old. We married at eighteen and recently celebrated our 49th anniversary. She is still my best friend. We were talking this morning and your name came up. My wife Madelyn said, "it is time for you to write to Bill Shatner". My wife and I are both Christians. We know you are not religious Bill but that you view yourself as an Animist. Animists believe in a supernatural power that organizes and animates the material universe - the attribution of a soul to plants and inanimate objects. Christians often feel those things too, but add their faith in a "creator of all things" and the reality and Faith of personally knowing Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. I have believed in Jesus since I was 12 years old, my wife since she was 18. During the 49 years of our marriage we have experienced many unexplained things and events. Nothing less than miracles. So many in fact that I cannot begin to tell them here. These events cemented our faith in Jesus. When I was 16 I went through a phase where it was hard for me to believe most of the Bible. I doubted the stories of "The Parting of the Red Sea" and "Noah's Ark" to name a couple. In fact I became weak in my faith all-together until I studied Bible prophecy! I was led to this study after reading the "Late Great Planet Earth" by Hal Lindsey. I strongly urge you to read Hal's book. Much of the Bible's prophecies have already occurred. All have taken place exactly as written, in many cases hundreds of years after being written. If someone told you that one day you would be on a TV show with George Foreman traveling the world - back when you were filming "The Twilight Zone" you would have been shocked when it's so a accurately came to pass. You would wake up and become very intrigued indeed! Well I must say that Bible prophecy is even more profound than that Bill. The Bible says that the Jews are God's chosen people. However did you know that the Bible accurately predicted that all the Jews would be driven from their land, that they would become despised and rejected and scattered over every corner of the Earth. This occurred exactly as written. Consider what Hitler attempted to do to all of the Jews when he attempted to extinguish them. Next the Bible says that the Jews would regain Israel and that the Jews would return in mass! Now the Jews are returning to Israel so fast, from so many places globally, that over 100 languages are spoken in Israel today. The Bible next predicts that Jerusalem will become a "cup of trembling" to the whole world! Armageddon will come. A huge war unlike the world has ever seen or experienced. The Bible also warns that Satan is roaming the Earth seeking whom he might devour. Satan knows his time is short. Soon he will impose his "666 mark" on everyone - that no man may "buy or sell" unless he takes the mark. But God warns us to not accept the Mark or we will lose our place with Him and be eternally damned. Bill, the Bible says only a fool says there is no God. The Bible says that we only need to look out into the universe to know that God is real! In the book of Romans, chapter 1, verses 18, 19 and 20 it says: for the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God has shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and godhead; so they are without excuse. In John 3:16 it is written "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life". Bill, when we acknowledge our faith in Jesus before men and participate in believer's baptism (as an adult) the Bible tells us we will also receive the Holy Spirit as our comforter. Why should we do this? Because God says we are all evil, sinfull and as "filthy rags". That no one is righteous, no not one. Just as animals were slaughtered at the altar in the old testament - Jesus was slaughtered on the cross that we may be forgiven our sins and trespasses. Jesus became God's sacrifice for us, for our sins. Not just sins in our past but every day until we die. The Bible tells us that Jesus will return to Earth two more times. Soon he will come without warning to call His Christians home. Jesus will show up in the twinkling of an eye. First the dead believers will rise from their graves to meet him in the air, followed next by all Christians still living - who will be given new bodies that are not corruptible. This event will be followed by 7 years of great trouble on the earth for mankind. Finally, Armageddon will ensue and Jesus will return a final time to stop Israel from being wiped out. Jesus will then judge the entire world. It is easy to become a Christian Bill. All someone needs to do is acknowledge faith in Jesus Christ as their Redeemer. To do that just say this simple prayer; "Jesus I believe in you and I accept you. I know that I am a sinner. Please forgive me of my sins and my trespasses. I will follow You and do my best to be like you. I will never be ashamed to acknowledge you and will tell others of my decision to accept you. In your name I pray, amen." If you prayed this prayer Bill then you will be saved. At your first opportunity seek believer's baptism in order to receive the Holy Spirit. Please give thought to my letter Bill, we hate to lose you. Sincerely, Guy
I dunno which is sillier/more sad. ...that this isn't Will Shatner's account, and yet you somehow came to such a conclusion just because you found some old footage or the fact I am at all bothering to respond to what is likely a bot or a copypasta at best or a guy with Alzheimer's at worst.
Nope. He said variations of it, but never specifically "Beam me up, Scotty." Nobody on Star Trek ever has. If it's such a popular catchphrase, and you doubt the validity the fact, then just try to find proof of otherwise. I'll be waiting here to say "I told you so."
i heard in 1987 headroom hijacked the wttw tower in chigago saying catch the wave and saying they are coming for me then making a female hit him with a stick. he inturupted a tv show 2 times i hate him
Sure looks like Letterman's studio.....Too funny.....Shatner still cant remember his lines.....And then Max (Matt Frewer) was on TNG........Gawd he was sooooooooo young.....
