I love Max this movie is one of my favorites it made me realize that dogs and soldiers both sacrifice their own lives to save ours so just for that I want to thank dogs and soldiers both alike thank you both 👍☺
The first time I saw the movie, I was disappointed. I got to see it a 2nd time several weks later, and I couldn't stop crying at the end of it. There was a lot I didn't remember from the first time, and after the 2nd time, I was so full of emotion. When the dog is trying so hard to get to the casket and finally does, I tear up instantly. That actually happened to slain Navy SEAL Jon Tumilson. His dog "Hawkeye" laid beneath his casket during the entire service. Jon was killed while deployed in August 2011. For anyone who is interested, I think there are a couple of videos here, but I know there are photos if you google it.
What about the 3000 dogs from Vietnam that were labeled army surplus. By giving that designation, they were left in country. And we’re never brought home. Does anybody wanna talk about that? Or do you dare even touch the subject, or even know that it happened
I'm curious why that salute ruined it for you. I didn't react to it the first time I saw the movie, but the 2nd time, I stayed in the theater until most others were gone because I couldn't stop crying. That salute along with Blake Shelton's song "Forever Young" just hit me between the eyes. Maybe because I nearly lost my own son in Afghanistan.
David Billython I did. The first time I saw it was the day it came out, and my expectations were high. I must have missed a lot because I left the theater disappointed. A few weeks later, it came to our small town theater and we went to it again. I had a hard time throughout the movie with my emotions that time and I don't know why. I think I was so blinded by the soft side of it the first time, that I focused more on Kyle's death, the way Max responded to everyone but Justin, and that he was almost put down, the part where Justin and Carmen sit down and watch the training video with Max and Kyle and Justin has tears running down his cheek as Carmen asks if that was his brother. So I was a real mess when it was over. I was shaking so hard while I cried. I guess I still think too much about my own son and his close experience with death when his MRAP rolled over an IED. None of the 5 men inside were killed, but they were injured. He had to skype with us the next morning, and he showed us a picture he'd taken of it after the sun was up and before they flipped the 25 ton pile of junk back over. It didn't look as bad as what I was expecting, but about a year later, I got to see a picture of it after it had been flipped. On top of the expected damage, it had nearly split at the fire wall between the engine and passenger compartments. Nobody expected to find any of them alive when they went running to them, but somehow they were spared. I'm the one with PTSD also, but mine goes clear back to when I was 5, and unfortunately other things such as that or everything we saw on 9/11, that really messed with my head. That was why my son enlisted. He wanted to do something to try and help keep from something like that ever happening again. Sorry for the book.
