JokerCirca66 Have you ever watched any of John Woo’s earlier movies like Hardboiled or The Killer.. I suggest you do in order to see where the Matrix ripped its action spectacle from... Besides, OP is right. No video game had a bullet time mechanic prior to Max Payne. It WAS ahead of its time.
Times, when games were something more than shitty P2W cash draining shit, with stupid season passes. It's sad, that we won't propably ever have games like Max Payne, with great story and amazing gameplay.
@@maciejwolkowicz. Totally agree, those times wont come back. Never. We saw it all in 2001, and had pleasure to feel it on crap pc with 15 fps and it was best time ever. Max payne, AVP 2, Red faction, unreal tournament, OMG it was total blast.
@@maciejwolkowicz. there are plenty of great games that released this year this is just the same mentality as "music will never be the same as x years ago"
Yea man, playing that intro in the beginning really hit me I was just a kid when I saw that horrible scene where his family is killed and you have to follow a bloody and horrific trail to find out your daughter or baby whatever got killed
This was one of my all-time favorite gaming experiences. Max Payne was near perfect. I'll never forget the hours I spent listening to Max narrate his way through the New York City underworld during the blizzard of the century.
i remember playing this game, and seem so real cause the his story was it was like u had to find what happen to his family and who is held accountable for it. Classic this day!!
One of the best games ever created. ! It reminds my childhood memories and the period which we saw many masterpieces that never gets old... A lot of tremendous games were released that composed gaming industry from 2000's to our current date. I wish we come across with these sort of legends once again. Although many (solo) based on the story games on the way and came up in the past 3 years, I guess no game satisfied me as enough as the previous generation. I wish gaming industry returns back to it's old expressive days that we had been waiting for for a decade.
Yeah no kidding. Late 90s and early 2000's were the golden age of gaming, especially for PC. AOE, Max Payne, JK II, Half Life, HomeWorld, and etc was the most favorites I can remember. So many different kinds of game and new IP that was actually amazing.
Any game can have action and graphics are taken with development. Immersive gameplay and storytelling is what classics are made of. N this is a classic. One can feel being there, being framed, lost and tired. Best game ever for me.
every sound effect, each soundtrack even so little takes me back to nostalgia day dreams when i was in primary school wondering what was happening in Max's world beyond the mission i was stuck on
I randomly came across this video and as it was rolling I had a flashback of when I was 7 years old playing this game on my uncle's pc but I had forgotten all about it. This game along with Soldier of Fortune, Delta Force, Prince of Persia, Tarzan, Aladin, Beachhead, Counter Strike 1.3, NBA 98, Collin McRae, Virtual Cop and many more were among my best time on this here earth.
@@redorange8753 He's from goa, India. Prolly sells drugs there, had an abusive stepdad so to overcome trauma he uses those drugs. Spends his spare time on youtube.
I remember being hyperhyped about this game as a kid. I was smoking and when I had two lighters, I used to roleplay around the streets, at night, Max's timecombo dualpistol epic trigger moment. Thank you for the upload, this is the Die Hard of the gaming scene xD
,😂😂.. Yep .. games are actually good for learning new words and places .. Age of empires , hitman , maxpayne , counter strike , lists of classic were so good to remember
i was 10 when i was playing this, (im swedish btw) so i didint understand the story back then, but the game was the best gamer i ever played. and lookin at this now 18 years later make me scared, the story is the whole f game xD
remeber when my dad brought me this, my saturday night was about to be the best saturday i had ever had in my life, will always remeber that. thanks dad :)
u r not gonna believe me that i was just 7 years old when i saw my brother playing max payne and i always sat down down with him watching him playing max payne and now im 18 years old and watching this video after so many years.....just missed those good old days .......this game just hit different..
I am still playing this game, every 2 years or so. Best feeling, soundtrack and gameplay! And the graphics still hold up a bit - at least, at that time, everything was TOP of the game. BUT, who is still playing this and thinking about the graphics???
I was in 7th grade when I played this, It was the first murder experience for me, I had never seen a movie or heard a story like this. Max Payne was my first horror experience.
Max Payne Yes i liked the pc version more too you could crouch and do more bullettime. I first played max payne in 2006 and i was so amazed by storyline and characters. This game gives me so much nostalgia.
Soldier of Fortune, System Shock 2, Deus Ex, Morrowind, Gothic, Max Payne, Aliens vs Predator 2 -- early 00's had some great 3d shooters, unsurpassed in its atmosphere even 20 years later.
Chin from Asia here...... Played this over ten years ago and this remains one of the greatest games i ever played of all time.....the gameplay was great but the storytelling has to be one of the greatest of all time....u know how video games is all about the experience?this game it takes the experience one level deeper by drawing u deep into the story telling and the protagonist and the world of Max Payne, the noir and bittersweet setting, that quietly belies the dark and tragic and melancholic grief that threatens to rip everything inside out,and the way the writer describes the hero's pain is so beautiful and unique and totally new and unexpected almost genius...I remember I used to be obssessed and look up and memorise every one of max Payne's quotes his best ones at least... and the protagonist's pain and insanity and his fantasies and delusions as he tries to navigate and make sense of the world and seek revenge and closure and the bad guys,it's like the whole thing was a dream u know, and that is the best kind of writing and imagination, vivid and crazy yet seems almost real enough to be part of the real world......everything was so stylised and symbolic yet it occurred in the real world.... Every chapter in the game was oozing with atmosphere and emotion, that pushes u on wanting to know more to go deeper into.....and max payne was one of those games that leaves ur fingers trembling, tears on the brink in ur eyes, adrenaline pumping and ur just filled with dread and anxiety and u just go "ahhh shyt I can't take this anymore!!!" because of the pain and grief.....u know what's coming....more pain.....and u know what's the best way to numb the pain?bloodlust and rage, and killing a dozen of ur enemies with a striker or AK-47.......but the closer u get to the source of ur pain and memories, the more u wanted to run away from it......the dread......it's like the story said....."The past is a gaping hole. You try to run from it, but the more you run, the deeper, more terrible it grows behind you, its edges yawning at your heels. Your only chance is to turn around and face it. But it's like looking down into the grave of your love." The noir and melancholic setting was also great, the feeling of a dark and gritty 1960s American city, the poverty and inhumane and despair, the loneliness and isolation,a hint of better times and tragedy, and the tale of unfinished business. And the woman in red?the one that tried to save him?hinted of a promise of a future.....but we all know that is a lie......our protagonist is trapped in the past,he is a dead man walking.kinda like Roland from stephen king's dark towers series.... I loved to read when I was young and good writing is one of the reasons why I love this game so much......if you could only play one game in ur life before u died.....this would probably be it. Max Payne 2 and 1.....
I remember my uncle showing me and my brother this game when we were younger. Was kind of scared of it to be honest. The eerie city and voice acting is spot on
Are there any games nowadays as decent as this one? I have stopped playing not too long after Payne's time, I would go back if you guys recommend anything as good.
What a classic it was. I remember i was just 13 at that time. Although it didnt understand it much. It was era of wonderful games back then. Max Payme, Driver ufffff. Although just in 2 years gta vice city also released
