That shot when Marika is holding those threads of grace between mountains of corpses and the wind hits her from the world beyond is such a powerful scene. With the music and all the context and mystery, my God that is epic.
2:57 I think this is some of the most uplifting and even optimistic music I've ever heard in a Fromsoft game. It's so out of character it hits so hard.
The fact that all of FromSoft’s expansion releases thus far have evoked that sense of ‘How did we ever play this pre-DLC?’ is _exactly_ why I’ve been so willing to let Miyazaki and his team cook for as long as they have on this. Quality of this level cannot and _should_ not be rushed to fit within any kind of quarterly deadline.
Yeah, after the Old Hunters DLC I've since divided my life between the time period I didn't have the Pizza Cutter and the time period after I got the Pizza Cutter. Ah my true mentor...
I also like how every time there's a new piece of content, there's something totally original and unique about it, like, just the design of Messmer alone is genius, cus it's equal parts artistic and badass
By far my favorite part of the trailer. Miquella is the only person I've seen in the Lands between that's actually fit for the title of Godhood, rather divinity, It seems he's constantly sacrificing of himself for others, is egoless, and has no problem giving up power, sacrificing power to help others. In many eastern religions and philosophies and cultural history, It is considered that one who has attained true strength or true knowledge of the world has no problems giving up their strength and power because they know it's illusion, ego is illusion. Self is illusion.
@@aeriagloris4211 as much as I want to believe this, the gameplay trailer starts with ”Pure and radiant, he wields love to shrive clean the hearts of man”, and Miquella is probably the only one in Elden Ring that can be described as pure and radiant. I think he might be a “good” person in that his actions are good, but he himself isn’t. Like, he might be slimy and manipulative for example.
@@luckystarplays1837 that line I interpret as an allegory to Jesus Christ, where people are so afraid of the idea of someone who will forgive them no matter what they do, it is terrifying to them because everything in the elden ring world is out to get them and that is all they know.
Dark Souls DLC's usually release just 3-6 months after release and end up being the best content in each game. I can only imagine what 2+ year dlc looks like.
To be fair that just suggests they held back the dark souls dlc to sell it separately. Where as they needed funds from Elden ring sales to make the dlc. It doesn’t mean longer development necessarily.
there is 0.00 percent chance they created everything in those dlcs in under 6 months knowing anything about how game development works, they were likely already completed before the base game even launched
@@SadMoribund Well, to be fair, a game that size would have many experimentaions along the development so reuse and polish those assets might already give them some good chunks to begin with. Modified assets in the base game would be a quick way to stacks up your advantage ( based erdtree vs shadow erdtree, grass, changing color etc...). Movements and all the hitboxes would mostly be fine since it's still using the same system. Probably the level design and creating new assets would take up most of the time and they had 2 years to do it, wouldn't be much of a surprise if it turns out to be like half the size of the based game tbh.
What I always find incredible about Soulsborne DLC is their vision just becomes so much more pronounced. You find the art direction and themes so strong and impressionable in the base game, sure. But then you go through the DLC where designs and presentation just transcend everything you could've expected in the game. They go so hard. I especially hope we get all the bells in the music. I love bells.
An incredible and beautiful cinematic trailer. Surprised they didn’t save this trailer for summerfest, unless they are something else to show this year. Or a another trailer for this dlc. Man frontsoftware you never cease to surprise us… looking forward to getting back to playing Elden ring after dark souls and bloodborne.
I haven't ever played Elden Ring but I'm hoping it goes on sale when when the DLC drops, then I'm going to play through the base game and instantly follow it up with the DLC.
I just beat Mohg in new game plus so that I’m ready to enter the dlc. Fwi y’all to acces the dlc you need to get to mohg and defeat him, you go the cocoon of miquella and probably touch it
@@sfwreaths1 Honestly, that's the most interesting detail from a lore standpoint. Beating Mohg makes obvious sense to access the DLC, but WHY do we need to also beat Radahn? This DLC must in some way relate to fate and the stars just like Ranni's quest line does, otherwise making Radahn a requirement would just be odd.
@@HonestOpinions4u It really makes sense since correct me if I'm wrong but Malenia was going to kill Radahn for Miquella for similar reason? Maybe Miquella asked her to do it? Yet she failed to do it as we know.
There is no doubt it's in the top 5 greatest. Ocarina of Time is the only game I'd put above it honestly because it's just so damn good for the time it came out, but yeah ER is up there with the prime Final Fantasies.
On the subject of reducing playthrough time, my first playthrough was somewhere between 120 to 150 hours. My second playthrough was around 20 hours and my third playthrough was less than 10 hours, probably closer to 6. While that’s obviously no record or anything, it does show that you can drastically drop your playtime depending on what you want to do in game.
what blows my mind is: Elden Ring, including the DLC, is just a "piece" of the full lore/story we're either getting multiple S+ tier games of Elden Ring, with multiple gigantic dlcs, or never knowing the full story/world i kinda like the idea of both
as soon as i heard that piano note in the begining of the video my hair on my arms stood up, ive never reacted to a game like this i am SO fucking excited.
Imma say it to many videos of Elden Ring dlc, That Lion Barongsai Boss is THE Boss that i can't wait to see it's attacks and movesets of! And doing that Kick to enemies is very cool
I just wish they would include these cutscenes in the actual game. Like when talking to a character or something, they would tell the story to set you up, like the trailer.
The cinematics are great, but the whole point of FromSoftware's games is that they don't tell us the story, we need to discover ourselves. Maybe they can do that in a future title that is not "soulslike"
@Leo_Carrilo I'm talking about the trailer cinematic, which everyone has seen. I'm not asking for like 20 cutscenes or nothing, lol. I like the style of fromsoft games, but I don't think including 1 cinematic we all seen anyway is going to hurt anything. It's just really bad ass.
If you're gonna do another run pre-DLC but dont want it to take forever, the perfect balance they seem to have designed is an "all remembrance" run. It takes you through each area of the game without forcing you to kill all of the side-bosses.
Gods damn man I truly think this might be the best firmsoft game ever it just blows everything out of the water and elden ring was bananas already incredible replay value
Marika is giving the real Griffith vibes. She apparently betrayed and sacrificed something in order to become a god. But also its true that we don't know Miquella's full intentions yet.
@@yuomovaeh3028 all I’m saying is everyone is glazing miquella and an item description in Elden ring said miquella has learned how to use his affection or something like that, AND he has a group, you could even say a BAND, of people following him. This is a souls game. I don’t think just hearing that a character is good makes him good.
Good Reaction Video Max. This Elden Ring DLC looks badass. When it comes too Souls Games, i've gotta be in the mood too Play one, it could be several Years after Relaease before i get into them.
My first two characters went around doing almost everything for 90 hours or so. Every other playthrough I've been making plans on what dungeons I need to do for the specific build I need, and planning a route is a big part of the fun. There are so many shortcuts in the game, you can be anywhere in Caelid, Altus or Liurnia within like 30 minutes from starting, even without doing speedrun stuff. All my other characters end up at the end of the game in like 30 hours which is still a chunk of time but much more reasonable.
6:44 Bandai Namco Mentioned I've never seen a soul fan ever give Bandai credit for the souls game. I know they publish it, but they do help with other things
I would love to see Max do a dual-blade run. I know how much he loved that weapon in DS2. It's actually very fun in ER. In fact I dont remember him getting Eleanor's Polesword in his 1st playthrough. So it might be fun?
I used rapiers, the axe from the guy from the beginning, the bleed staff and the nerfed sword of night and flame. I’m for sure using the first weapon I get in the dlc
I think the reason they took this much time on the dlc is because they were developing AC6, normally they don't have another full release in between a base game and it's expansion.
I think you're right. I think it'll be at least half as big as the base game was. FromSoft seem to care about delivering the best experience and I'll spend however much money I need to spend to experience it. Also, Miquella is gonna be the Big Bad, not Messmer. Just my prediction. Unless, I, a Tarnished, choose to be the Big Bad. I dunno. I can barely keep my pants on waiting for this gd DLC.
I think it will be huge like an extension more than a simple "dlc". I don`t think it could surprise us the same way as the original game did, but i think it will be fantastic.
Unpopular opinion: but maybe we should just stick with ER as the definitive souls game. They can remake all the classic ones if you miss that version of the souls game, but they can just Xenoverse 2 this game forever. It never gets old, the world is continuously magical and each new expansion they can just expand the lore in game. Elden Ring: Forever. Yes do this Bamco 🙂↕️
The several tarnished players together at the end, I hope there is real co-op now (not convoluted to join a friend and persistent after bosses). Crossplay too would be brilliant. And they didn't quite spend 2 years on this, Fromsoft has legal issues to tend to with becoming a self publisher from what I understand.
I love these dark souls games but i really wish they went all out on making them graphically better not to say they look bad but i do think having more next gen graphics with such fidelity would only make the mood and atmosphere more immersive and interesting I hope the future games have such a thing!
For all of you newer fans who’s first fromsoft game was Elden Ring……..you are about to find out why this fan base gets so hyped for expansions. They take an already great base game and somehow end up making the expansions 10 times greater! Fromsoft is how every game company should treat dlc/expansions! The only difference compared to past titles is ER being open world so this will obviously be the biggest one yet!
Great example of what he talks about when he says fromssoftware is goated dlc a good dame to look at is bloodborne and ds3 those game are good but what makes them 10/10 is dlc
I don't think FromSoft's style of storytelling lends itself to other forms of media, considering how important the item descriptions are and how much is only told through implication.
Wonder if Melina will make it into the DLC. Technically you dont have to finish the main story to get into it so ... Melina should still be there. I guess ?
I wish there was a way to start a new game plus with all your equipment, but at level 1. My character is so overpowered. I want to replay the game, but wish I could just have all my gear. I don’t even care if I have to level up the gear again. I just want my gear
