Max Reger -- Straf mich nicht, Op. 40 No. 2 

Max Reger composed two chorales in 1899, one being "Wie schön leucht't uns der Morgenstern" or "How brightly shines the morning star" and this one, "Straf mich nicht in deinem Zorn" or "Punish me not in thy anger." Reger is said to have noted about this chorale, "It is a miserably difficult piece of music. It couldn't have turned out any easier simply because of my inclination towards the mystical."
