Max to me have the best quality shows and is probably the streaming service I use the most. More recently, I'm starting to feel it's not enough new good shows and movies. The old content is great but they need to start focusing on more new solid content.
I did cut mine off. Because I felt like there wasn't enough content. And I had the ad's version and did not mind it. But haven't had it in several months. Maybe that has changed.
When it comes to movies, Max out-Netflixes Netflix. But, they try to service so much that they dilute the impact. It’s not ALL about what you have. It’s also about how you present what you have.
Still a pretty small chunk of content on Netflix & Amazon but I hear ya. Just started watching Six Feet Under and realized I could get it on Netflix, too.
@@ShallIStreamIt Batman the animated series soon I think the wire too. Eventually I think that's what WB is gonna do just license out the content that's where the money is
Anyone who has the grandfathered ATT Unlimited Elite plan still get the most expensive Max plan for free. With all these additions this has become a great value added proposition.
Max licenses out entirely too much these days. They still have a lot exclusive, but most customers might not care about that when they license away their all-stars. EVEN THOUGH they also keep them. They don’t have that luxury anymore.
I’m very curious about the specific economics of licensing things out vs keeping them on their own platforms. Seems like a short term benefit vs a long term benefit. Paramount seems like they really should have kept South Park & Yellowstone so they could have them on Paramount+.
@@ShallIStreamIt I think Disney might be right on the modern game, these days. Gather most everything they have and turn Disney+ into a super app. They still have to be careful about pricing, but they know the modern sales game.
@@ShallIStreamIt and now WBD wants to split rights for South Park and/or instigate a bidding war for permanent ownership of it. Paramount also took their one huge modern property and shipped it to Peacock, like you said. They get huge amounts of money in licensing fees, but the saying “Possession is nine-tenths of the law “ holds true, here. Customers arguably don’t care where something streams as long as they can find it somewhere.
Nice review, but I am disappointed in the New Max I’m a movie , tv show person. And all this other stuff is taken over . They canceled a lot of good shows and took off a lot of great movies and shows for all this reality Tv . I mean don’t get me wrong it’s ok but it’s just becoming too much some great shows are being canceled and now they plan on another price increase soon . I’m try to decide is it still worth it.
Got HBO Max with "lifetime 50% discount" when it launched here in Finland. 5 bucks for 4K and Dolby vision is good value. The Max rebrand is coming in May, the price will probably double to 20 euros (10 with the discount) Really struggling with myself whether I'll keep my subscription. Guess I can handle the price hike, but I think the massive price hike a really garbage move. Also have Netflix and Disney.
Your obvious money grab by eliminating most of hbo movies I signed up for unless I pay max sizeable monthly fee in addition is abhorrent. Shame on you!
Is Hulu with Disney+ bundle batter since I just want to watch shows and on occasions movies 🍿 and big fan of Pixar and Star Wars too? I hear they are going to bring more mature adult content! I also like Max and paramount but idk if it has enough content variety for me.
Hmm well if you're a big fan of Pixar and Star Wars, the Hulu/Disney+ bundle might be the way to go then. They just launched the ability to watch Hulu shows on the Disney+ app today.
@@ShallIStreamIt thank you for the reply I appreciate the content and your feedback too! I went and chose the bundle with Hulu it has a lot of good content for now especially that i had left unfinished thank you again and also hear good things about Max might give it a shot too!💯💪🏻
Can’t be minimum because they have got exclusive rights to star trek films which they somehow took or gotten from paramount ever since they been trying get it and everything with paramount logo from other platforms with no luck and word has it there bankrupt if so enjoy paramount content they got and stuff while can because those who save them might be PPV streaming service like apple with iTunes or VUDU which owned by fandango which used belong to Walmart.
@@ShallIStreamIt yes but shame paramount plus don’t have means or money get it back and even they could do them no good many channels saying they are bankrupt along with cbs and there cbs studios production company hence rumors of original content being cancelled. So unless someone saves them they going have to find way make money off streaming services which has their studios content or call it quits why say max better choice. If paramount goes under they take every network they got go with them including showtime network.
Yes if get HBO from provider then you get MAX and all it content for no extra charge assuming it tv provider on list under sign in with tv provider content which be in HD on box Be in 4k online with max app.
I’m literally sitting on the sign up screen trying to figure out if this is worth it. At this point I absolutely hate ads but I don’t know if this is worth 16 bucks, I’ll likely just watch the dc stuff 🤔
I Use to have HBO MAX but wen it come on May of last Year it updated to MAX n MAX is coming to Latin America n d Caribbean like in Belize Next Month in Febuary
Great video! I’m Gen X. And I’m a tightwad. I started streaming with Peacock September 2022 because Days of our Lives was no longer on TV. I started liking it. Bought Hulu Black Friday Deal in 2023. Disappointed to find out it is the bare minimum from Hulu. Max is now offering Ad Free for $105/yr. Sounds like a good deal. AND they have TCM! I have been wanting that channel forever. (Love the old black/whites) You have convinced me it is a great deal. Thanks for your wonderful video. 🎥 🍿 📺 ❤
This is why these huge conglomerate mergers dilute the quality and service of previous programming, like HBO. To be honest, I dont like it at all. I don’t like them pretending having access to a ton of quite old films is a huge plus. I despise cable news & reality tv garbage. It’s why I left CableTV years ago. I’m not into the MC world. I think not being able to live stream HBO, even while paying the top tier rate of $15.99/mo is one of the worst downgrades. I’ll be dumping it. I’ll buy the GoT series, etc, & dump it. I can find the other series I likes elsewhere now
Legacy TV is dying while Max turns itself into a legacy tv app. The rebranding reminds me of “New Coke” except CocaCola course corrected. Just look at WBD vs Netflix stock prices over the past 2 years, or their subscriber counts. Or slate of new content. Meanwhile Netflix has made moves towards capturing the “prestige tv” audience that HBO used to be synonymous with
To be fair, WBD's streaming business finally churned a profit in the last fiscal quarter they reported while some of their competitors (like Disney) did not. Time will tell how things turn out in the long run.
Hmm just Googled it. Looks like the Godzilla franchise is co-owed by WB & Legendary Entertainment so that probably had something to do with it. But TV studios will produce shows for rival studios' outlets all the time. E.g. Warner Bros Television produces Ted Lasso even though its on Apple TV+ and not Max. Paramount produces Emily in Paris even though it's on Netflix and not Paramount+. It's all complicated.
When they rebranded they removed the "Game of Thrones Idle video" that i often like to watch when GOT/HOTD is not releasing episodes weekly, so I cancelled my subscription. I would still buy it again if I could watch 4k on PC (in a browser or Windows app), just to re-watch GOT/HOTD. Westworld season 1 is the only show I have watched from HBO other than GOT, I could see myself watch season 2 at some point if I had access, but I really just want my idle video back.
