People dont remember the very next season Sammy Sosa broke his bat and it was a cork bat. For the young kids that don’t know, cork filled bats make it MUCH easier to his homeruns. Either way, McGwire and Sosa didn’t do it legit

B.R. Smith lol comment fail but hey you tried and we get the gist. It’s sad that the late 90’s were focused on those cheaters instead of fully being on Griffey Jr. He wasn’t being downplayed but it still overshadowed his amazing (steroid free) seasons.
@DCI_LeoDan_

@West Texas Rain I think the TV show mythbusters did an episode about it. The improvement was negligible at best when compared to a regular bat.
@52BBN
@52BBN 4 года назад
All corking a bat does is make it lighter...which would slightly improve bat speed getting it through the zone quicker, but does nothing to allow the ball to pop off of it any better than a stock bat. Fact is, being capable of swinging a heavier bat will result in farther homeruns as you’re delivering more mass into the ball.
@52BBN
@52BBN 4 года назад
OG Bobby Knuckles Agreed on Griffey. His numbers are rarely talked about and he achieved them purely on his natural ability. Further proof that he was clean was that he went through the natural decline as he aged and suffered injuries. Griffey wasnt popping 50+ HR’s in his late 30’s like several others. My idol was Mark McGwire....started following him in the middle of his rookie year in ‘87 (I was 16). I still admire him and feel that his main benefit was indeed being able to play enough games in a season to hit those totals, but they certainly helped his performance. He was easily around 270lbs in those final years at 6’5”.....not the 250 he claims. I’m an “enhanced” bodybuilder at 5’10” and 245lbs.....no way he was only 5lbs heavier than me, lol.

People seem to forget McGwire hit 49 HR's his rookie season when he was skinny as a rail. Yet he was hurt most of his career. He took PED to recover from injuries because he was tired of being hurt. I challenge any of you no talent MLB The Show HR hitters to take any PED you choose, play 162 games in the Bigs and see how many dingers you hit. You won't hit a single one because it's a skill. So since Max thinks that '92 is when he believes Mcwire started using, let's compare the 2 then up to 91: Mcgwire-178 HRs in 777 games Bonds- 142 HRs in 870 So at least in homers Mcgwire still had the edge. Both players started their careers at the same time and are close to the same age. No one was saying that Mark Mcgwire was the best player then. He was just hitting the most homers. Bonds was surely the more complete player still, but he was jealous of the attention Sosa and Mcgwire were getting and decided to juice himself.

@UglyFatNerd
@UglyFatNerd 6 лет назад
Darryl Flinch Being that tall and that heavy, while playing outfield will likely destroy his knees. Usually you'd want someone like him at first or at DH to preserve his body. Most of his value comes from the bat either way. LeBron is the greatest athlete of all time and is one of the only exceptions to this I can think of. He's still going strong at that age when other guys have been declining for years
@jw7665
@jw7665 6 лет назад
Problem with Judge is that baseball players decline more rapidly than basketball players because in baseball you rely on your speed/bat speed, and once that starts to decline, a lone swing like the one Judge has becomes longer, so he'll strike out even more. I'm a Yankees fans, but I don't see Judge sustaining his production past 30. The one big difference, is that he's actually very athletic for a guy so big, so hopefully I'm wrong.

Clemens and Bonds were also great high school players like Big Mac, they were all All Americans in college. Clemens and Bonds led their teams to the college World Series (Texas, Arizona St.) They went through the minors, and then became MVP's and Cy Young winners. Hate the damn game for not allowing testing earlier. These guys never failed a test mainly because testing came in place at the tail end of their careers. The MLB set a new season record for home runs last year but that’s “boring”. Stanton, Judge, and Bellinger were raking last season but that’s “boring”. Kershaw, Scherzer, Sale, and Kluber we’re dominating but that’s “boring”. The Cubs and Indians along with the Astros and Dodgers just had 2 of the 10 greatest World Series of all time but that’s “boring”.

The Archduke you are a bitch how you just gonna call that man a idiot boy this internet give you balls huh The game Was more exiting with Bonds. Sosa and McGwire far more exiting that's just facts.

I think hitting home runs is mostly about hands-eye coordinations and mental approach. PED will help you club speed, then you still need to make a contact, not sure PED can help that.
@danarrington2224
@danarrington2224 4 года назад
True. But if you already have the skills to hit a baseball, PED's will make you hit the ball harder and further. Barry was still the best player in baseball even when Mark and Sammy were juicing in '98. I know everybody has opinions about this but as far as I'm concerned Barry is the greatest player in the history of MLB.

i feel like max is right about the steroids and mark's place in history, but wrong about the trend of his career. He had a golden glove and he was never trending downwards with his homeruns, he just had an insanely good rookie year and then one bad year later on (91).

Home runs are being hit this year at a record rate. MLB is supposed to be policing PEDs better now so if it's not that what is?

Why is Max so angry at a juicer in silly game like baseball, yet he lets Pacroids off the hook for clearly juicing in the '08/09 era and holding the Mayweather fight hostage for 5 years over his refusal to accept random blood testing?

Andre Dawson hit 49 that same year, no one talks about poor Andre.

Brandon Conforto No. They were talking about 1987, the year McGwire first hit 40. Dawson played for the cubs and I believe won NL MVP.

I don't consider it cheating. Peds weren't against the rules at the time. So why not do it for the money? There were no tests or rules against it so how is it cheating? Put the blame on baseball.....not on the many many many many players that juiced.

Roids dont create ability they create muscles you still have to have the ability to hit a 98mph fast ball or a 86mph curve or a 90mph slider roids dont do that. Induct Mark thats my opinion. And btw this guy is obnoxious.

+ryan - I already proved you wrong on your other comment. "Eichner had added, "Further investigation is needed to make a final determination," on the matter because Alvarez's Feb. 17 positive sample contained such a higher level than the positive sample collected on Feb. 20." www.latimes.com/sports/boxing/la-sp-boxing-golovkin-canelo-commission-20180321-story.html BTW - GGG is smart in saying and talking shit. Mayweather did that to Pac. He kept saying to Pac you cheater. Having Alex Ariza in his camp for 5 years and Freddie Roach is like. I didn't know what juice Alex was giving Pac. But it took 5 years for Roach to fire Ariza LOL. It's a MIND game. Mayweather did it and GGG is doing a good job at saying how Canelo whole team is a cheat. Even though there is a good chance that it was contaminated meat.

Darryl lmfao the only thing you proved is that i was right in thinking you're a fucking idiot.. you just keep repeating what they commission said which they HAVE to cause of DUE PROCESS fuck head they have to do a full investigation before the can just call him a cheat! Plus boxing is corrupt as fuck anyway obviously they were still trying to go on and they were still promoting and selling fucking tickets hey tell Oscar to quit leaving coke rings around your butt hole!

ryan - I believe you have a reading comprehension problem! You're the idiot because I came with facts and you came with an opinion. Once again you're wrong! YOU said: That meat story is bullshit buddy his second test came back TEN TIMES HIGHER THAN THE FIRST ONE. WHERE IS YOUR PROOF????? Prove your statement. IF you can't then you LOST! I posted this while backing up my FACTS! "The first positive sample, collected Feb. 17, was 10 times greater than the second sample taken Feb. 20. Both levels were described as "low" by one expert." www.latimes.com/sports/boxing/la-sp-boxing-canelo-pugmire-20180327-story.html www.ringtv.com/530474-canelo-alvarez-tests-positive-for-clenbuterol-ahead-of-ggg-rematch-lab-suspects-contaminated-meat/ Maybe you do have a reading comprehension problem! Maybe you should read it again: "The first positive sample, collected Feb. 17, was 10 times greater than the second sample taken Feb. 20". "The first positive sample, collected Feb. 17, was 10 times greater than the second sample taken Feb. 20" Do you still not get it??? Damn you're dumb!

Only thing I disagree with Max was that Sosa & McGwire juicing made them better players no Bonds was still better then them cause Sosa & McGwire worthless defensive players. Bonds a top one if anyone took Bonds spot as best player away it was Ken Griffey Jr.

No, he wouldn't have. He's a cheat and making up flat rationalizations. What's sadder is hearing them from Cardinals fans. I'm a Cards fan, I will never respect McGwire again. You know who saved baseball after the strike, Cal Ripken Jr. Show up, played, did it clean!
