I still have a small collection of netsuke that I bought at auction in 1972. Part of a famous collection, I even have the catalog that they came from. Amazing works of art but very few people care about them anymore sorry to say. The old ones are so life like the modern ones seem kind of flat one dimensional. This was a very nice discussion on these amazing little bits of art that was used nothing more than a button sort of.

Do you still have the collection of netsukes? Let me know if you ever think of selling any of them or even just letting someone seeing them. I'm a big fan of netsuke myself and I've collected a few pieces of them.

Very interesting talk, and fantastic to hear from a specialist from Sidney Moss.

I collect the 99 cent Netsukes made out of boxwood with black bead eyes. I show them to friends and they are amazed.
