Hello Everyone,
When I was a kid, my dad has told me about the reduction of manpower of traditional trades due to the industrialization and modernization of Japanese society, traditional products started to become out-dated and forgotten.
#woodworking #Netsuke #rarewood
However, they’re still young people who spend all of their careers carrying on the tradition. We'd like to honor them as much as we can. So I decided to create a series of video shows about them and their work from the footage available from my friends and myself.
Today, This video will be more attractive because I have edited the script, rewrote the content, new effects work, new music, new footage added and a new creation is created as follows: "The Netsuke Made in Ise is characterized by a Rare Wood which's known as “The Wooden Jewel"
This time our main character is an Ise Netsuke Craftsman: Kajiura Asuka (梶浦 明日香さん) from Gifu Prefecture. She was born in 1981
Her Teacher: Nakagawa Tadamine (中川 忠峰さん)
In 2012, Ms. Kajiura participated in a contest about Ise Netsuke. She has obtained the top grand Prix of 1800 people nationwide. Ms.Kajiura's previous job is a caster of NHK. In 2007, she interviewed craftsmen who were involved in various traditional crafts on the program in charge. Among them, she was fascinated by Ise netsuke, which has delicate and graceful sculptures, and met Mr. Nakagawa (current master) and was also attracted by his gentle personality. She retired from NHK in 2009 and became an apprentice to Nakagawa. Since then, she has been training under her teacher.

I've travelled to Japan and became intrigued or rather obsessed with Netsuke artwork. As a wood carver I decided to attempt to learn this most beautiful art form. Sadly. With absolute humility, I am so far from close to feeling any amount of the success I've strived for...yet! I'm old and my hands ache and yet because of the tremendous beauty of traditional Netsuke I work everyday on my humble little Netsuke. I only wish I had started to learn this art form when I was young . Now, being 76 I work voraciously to try to do the best I can. Please enjoy the carvings of the Japanese Netsuke carvers as I do. Very impressive that she took the big leap from working a steady job at NHK to learning and mastering a brand new (to her) skill . And the sensei does look to be a kind and gentle man . Enjoyed this very much .

I am humbled by Ms. Kajiura delicate carving of her Netsuke. She quit her job at NHK to study under a Master carver and my opinion is her work is very exquisite and beautiful. If I were a young man I'd wish to study under her knowledge. I strive everyday to carve Netsuke style and yet I will never achieve where I wish to be. Great work!!

In traditional Netsuke the craftsman ALWAYS left a tiny flaw in each and every one. It was considered an affront to the gods to make something "perfect".

Vaya!! 😍😘✌🏼😄

@robertlangley258
@robertlangley258 4 года назад
Matt Wiechers .....so, what your saying is, since she “gave up” being a self-centered do what i say and go where i tell you and wear what i tell you and smile to the crowd all day whether you feel like it or not if you want to stay in this gig, or do something she feels is very heartfelt and cultural dear to her heart and very satisfying and rewarding to “herself”. Hmmmmm, are you really thinking your statement, as a normal male, somehow makes you look/sound as if you’re “really with it” and that all women will read your comment and think wonderful thoughts of you. I was just wondering, it crossed my mind. Maybe you forget women have intuition, we don’t. Don’t take this personal tho.

Your channel has wonderful & informative videos. Just so you now at 2.31 in the video the word is NASU, not Cashew (although they do rhyme!). NASU means Eggplant, which is what the Netsuke is representing. NASU also means complete, as in something's been achieved or you've succeeded.

@AnnaMorimoto
@AnnaMorimoto 4 года назад
Though it is written ne-tsu-ke, the 'u' sound in the middle is often dropped/silent. If I were you, I would worry about avoiding 'kay' as in 'cane' or 'okay'. It should soud like 'ke' as in 'kettle' or 'chemical'.
