if technique and shooting score near the same amount of goals im just gonna use technique since it eases the timing for perfect stuff and hyperstrikes. thanks for the analysis great vid
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like characters with high shooting can stun the goalie a lot easier than high technique characters. I've haven't played the game yet so my observation could be off
@@Skeemac I think you might be right but that’s kinda lame imo to keep spamming shots at the crease trying to knock the goalie over, just seems less fun
@@Skeemac same thing with doing charge shot in front of defenders. And honestly boding the goalie is the easiest way to score outside of monkey full court charge shot
for characters with low shooting and technique (toad main MAX SPEED) You should usually go for close middle shots to get the highest chance to score. Not the best for shooting but good at making distance especially when pressing ZR to let go of the ball temporarily to get a slight spd boost
5:24 Just watching this over and over again with the dumbest smile I ever had on my face. The way that tiny Toad looks, kicks, then stand there for a second before turning around and running is way too cute.
In my limited playtime I was shocked that rosalina was such a monster shooter and didn't really understand why until I learned what the technique stat did. She's insane.
Rosalina built for shooting is just a god tier character for curved shots. If you can get her open and a charged shot then oh my it's free goals. I can pretty consistently score with her from centre without moving at all using a curved charged shot. My go to team has been Rosalina built for shooting, peach built for speed, yoshi maxed out for passing and waluigi built for strength and I'm loving the way it plays out using yoshi's passing and peach's speed to get Rosalina open for those curved shots and then waluigi just knocking down everything in his path.
@@Jigglypoop97 essentially just use the left stick to guide the ball. The directions you move the left stick after a shot determine where it will go so just move the stick where you want the ball to go.
Also she has the best hyperstrike as well. Even if you miss time it, the frost path makes everyone around the area frozen so you can easily score on the return from boom boom.
Technique is just the god stat it seems like. It's applicable to everything. Since it also increases the timing window for the "perfect" actions, technique + passing makes perfect passes easier, technique + shooting is amazing obviously, technique + strength makes perfect tackles and perfect dodges easier. Just always level up technique I guess.
When I do that build with Rosalina I pretty consistently like 90-70% make it in just from center field, sometimes even without a perfect shot. Granted it’d be harder against real players but even against the hard CPUs, you can if Rosalina is your captain, after being scored on just immediately charge a perfect shot or a partially charged shot and generally just get a matching point. The biggest counters are big characters like bowser or dk, items. High speed can be good against it but if you give Rosalina some strength… she shouldn’t have much negative encounters (except high strength, high speed… or like waluigi for instance) and you can always dodge and then shoot for similar results. Really it just comes down to the angle you apply when you curve the shot. Based somewhat on where the goalie is. Also I would say Shooting I think is better for mid to far range Shooting and Technique is better mid to close range. Technique is the overall superior stat, and in my opinion Shooting is probably the worse stat in the game… granted it is still a very useful stat to have on at least one of your team members.
As someone who used an all toad team with little gear through the galaxy cups, I can say I scored more than this test would have you believe. I'm not denying it was difficult with his poor stats. But it can be done
I decided to go with the Trick Helmet, Bushido Bracers, Cannon Plate, and Cannon Boots for Rosalina. I end up losing 1 Strength and 1 Passing, but gain 1 Speed and 1 Shooting. Considering before watching this video, I just loaded all the Cannon gear onto her to max out her Shooting, I was struggling quite a bit, because 25 Shooting isn't as helpful with only 11 Technique, whereas only 20 Shooting is so much better when you have 19 Technique to back it up.
"Since it's been said that stats have a threshold activation of 5, those 19 points in shooting and technique are basically 15. If you take this into account, you can give Rosalina gear with 20 shooting and 15 technique. As for Mario, he can have 15 shooting and 20 technique. Rosalina and Mario are the best scorers in the game by far." Judging by this comment, your 19 technique is only equal to 15 technique
Here’s a gear build I’ve decided to use for my team: Trick Helmet, Muscle Gauntlets, Turbo Pad, & Cannon Boots, you’ll get Super Low Passing, Medium strength and speed, but High Shooting and Technique(at least that’s what I got for Birdo.)
Feel this is a little harsh on Toad. I've Toad on the wing maxed speed. His Shooting (7) and Technique (9) are poor. He's still an excellent finisher at close range. Boom boom is simply too slow to position himself. I've noticed playing this game how little a charged shot is needed to score if you exploit Boom Booms positioning. Toad is the assist maker in the team. He's also a bloody good finisher. Just don't shoot from far out.
Dude boom boom is always on it. I legit switch sides real quick and do a quick shot that’s perfect timed for a boost and he will switch sides and block perfectly
Not sure if this has already been commented but if you could do the same video but for more of a midfielders stats? Because for example you probably wont be able to get 25 in a shooting stat when you want to have a balanced character. Maybe using like 15 shooting and 10 technique vs the opposite would be a decent choice. Regardless loved the vid!
@@spongebobsquarepants5896 Completely agree. Having an extra 10% shots made isn't going to make a huge difference if you can't play D or make plays happen.
Very cool video. If you haven’t done it already, maybe test what’s better(shooting or technique)going off a combo shot one timer. Then again might be a lot of other factors going on with that. Could be a hard video to make lol
Thank you for this!! I've been looking for tips on how to get better. I can kinda hold my own online, but lose more often than I win, and I wanted to know what I was doing wrong. Next time I play I'll keep this in mind.
They said that the stats are notched by 5s so having 19 on shooting will get the same result as having 15 on shooting But if you have 20 on shooting, it will make a huge impact they said.
is there a video going over this stuff and adding in the Goalkeeper catching the ball. you might not get straight goals but rebounds are also very important
I use Rosalina, Wluigi, Luigi, and Warrio. Rosalina is the sniper. Luiigi is my back up shooter. Wluigi is there to harass on D and be dangerous as well during Offensive pushes. Warrio is there for D exclusively. Warrior can knock down almost any character with uncharged tackles. So can Wluigi and he's speedy enough to make room to use a super. His super shot is nice since it ties up boom boom. Lol
Seeing this video after DLC 1 came out makes me want to make a team with Daisy, Rosalina, and Peach, all because they can achieve this sort of technique+shooting build.
Great vid! ya there are probably diminishing returns for tech and shooting so no need to max. How important do you feel passing stat is? I'm not sure I see a diff or what it does? faster passes maybe? I've been lowering that one to increase others.
Yep, speed of passes is pretty important but imo no need to max it ever. Overall intercepting a pass comes down to human reaction and positioning, so you only need enough to feed your forwards.
It affects 4 things. The speed of the pass. How far the pass goes before losing the speed. How fast the manual apss goes. And the general Ranger of passing. Including normal and manual pass
I kind of wish you can help make Boom Boom a better goalie. I keep playing this game like Strikers and Charged with lob shots and distant shots but they never land but if you just get up in his area, you're guaranteed a goal if your Shooting or Technique is mid enough
From what I've seen so far in my personal experience playing this game competitively since launch, the speedy characters such as Toad and Peach are good for item hogging your opponent and evading tackles. Most of the times I've seen people mainly use those characters to primarily score hyper strikes goals because they can easily outrun and avoid the slow offense characters tackles and be wide open to do a hyper strike. This is what happen to me in matches against pro players and especially against my brother in local play.
Very true. I just used toad in this example to show why you shouldn't take shots with them unless you are way up close. Toad is still a great speedy passer to support the team.
I'd be interested to see, when technique and shooting compared, howmay balls did he catch and howmany where rebound chances, I feel like there boosting the shooting stat to knock out the goalie might prove worth more then technique.
To score more goals in mario strikers battle league you need to increase ... passing. You know what problem with maxing out shooting and/or technique? You scoring about 50% of your shots. Passing can get it up to 100%. Just lure goalie on one side and then pass ball to other side (ideally to a bombardier) and shoot. If you quick enough you will score 100% even if character doesn't have shooting and/or technique You want max out shooting/technique for a bombardier(1 for a team, I use shooting 23 rosa), rest speed/strength + passing and speed/passing + strength Passing is a good stat, you don't need to max it out, but you still want to have a good amount of it. It helps to maneuveur ball around the field (which helps both offence and defence) and helps score goals. Just try it

I'm currently testing different thresholds of shooting/technique and I don't think they have threshold. The only confirmed threshold is for Speed. Either way, there's definitely a limit to the statistics of how much shooting or technique you need.
My only complaint about the controls is that you should be able to hold L in order to display ABXY on your team's heads and switch manually. The automatic switching is pretty inconsistent.
@@TonesBalones That L button being held is already assigned to the Through Pass, which to be honest should of/ would of been better to be the same as Fifa as well with the X button (single press instead of holding) being Through Pass and then made the L button for the use of items. The problem with the through pass is you have to Hold Down the L button and whilst holding it down an Aim Reticule shows on screen where you then have to aim where you want the through ball to go. It's really inaccurate and especially playing online it takes too long hence why I think Fifa's system is better with a single press of the X button. Or even jus have it as a single button press of the L button and do away with the aiming reticule. Even changing the button mapping is not gonna help as it's the Holding down the button then having to aim is the problem. Have you given the manual switching a try?
@@R2bball I never had or played that game, on GC right? I'm trying to remember where the buttons are on a GC controller. Are the buttons in the same place as the OG one except just the Lob? I honestly like the controls on this Switch strikers, jus as mentioned in other comment above they screwed the through pass up I think, Have you tried it? Not so good on the single player games but even worse trying to do online.
Here is a tip every Stat have 5 bars rigth? And 5 sub-bars well as far as i know the major diferente aplies in the second or 4 sub-bars meaning that 4-7-12-17-25 are have the major Stat changes (mainly in shotting and technique) in shotting 16 make the ball go fast butbit lacks the wind effects but with 17 it grts the wind effects the same for technique betwen 16 and 17 there a prettty ir nteresting change in the ball curve Only for shotting and technique
Could you please test the thumbstick directions when shooting to see what shots are best to take in different locations? I feel that like would be super useful for the majority of players
Do you know if the skill stats are bracketed? I've heard conflicting information. Some are saying the stats only improve on 5/10/15/20/25. For example a 12 and 14 shooter will be the same.
Most recently birdo dominates shooting and technique ever since the final patch they made boom boom worse technique is still the best stat in the game despite after the first patch bowser jr is actually good defensively he has good build’s that makes him destroy on defense
Any broken builds what is the strongest things to level up? or gear yet? Is there a online mode where you can turn gear off but still wear it as coustume or does it just not wear it? Do u get multiple slots to customize per character?
The most you can get in shooting and technique total is 38, with Rosalina. This can either be 21+17, 19+19, etc. So what is shown in the video is about as good as you can get.
i’m wondering if the stat threshold thing is real where you only really get changes to performance when the stats hit the next multiple of 5. your rosalina would have effectively been 15/15
No sure answer there, but I run Rosalina (striker build), Peach (speed build, good passing), Bowser (add some speed), and walwigi ( high speed and strength) and this team has me at over 75% win percentage. Ive been dominating most teams with this.

Can you do some tests on passing? I've got a waluigi with 3/25 for passing and I can still do perfect passes pretty consistently. The timings not that bad. Passing seems like a worthless stat
I've found with yoshi maxed out passing his passes actually feel faster and crisper now I could just be imagining things but it really feels different with yoshi with maxed out passing specifically. But on top of that if you don't have a secondary maxed passing yoshi then the passing the first one provides has diminishing returns once yoshi has passed the ball off. The way I've been using yoshi is to get a good pass up to an open Rosalina who can just easily score with a curved shot.
Passing is totally useless in Galactic Cup. Ball get intercepted 9/10 times and simply not wort the risk. You need to rush forward, dodge and try to take a shot. If you pass the ball, the enemy AI is going to kick the guy away that is about to receive the ball with no chance of switching characters and kick them first, or the ball simply gets caught. If you try to manually aim the pass, it will take too much time and more often than not still gets intercepted. Your AI is too passive and the field too small for passes. It's like half the size of Strikers Charged and GC Strikers fields
I think my initial analysis was correct that passing is the worst stat, but not necessarily useless. When playing solo, having full control over your passing makes it extremely hard for defense. I think having 1 or two speedy passers in 1v1 is crucial, just so long as you never take a shot with them.
Yes. I still think Mario and Rosa are S Tier, but Waluigi is also S tier because he's by far the best defender and captain. One of the B Tiers is going up to A tier because You need a speedy passer, just not sure which.
You did not take into account whether boom boom was stunned on the save, caught it, or deflected it. One of the perks of increasing the shooting stat is to stun boom boom to allow for rebound shots, this cannot be overlooked when doing testing.
I actually did keep track! At least in my spreadsheet. Higher shooting KOs Boom boom almost twice as often, and causes more rebounds. Definitely worth considering.
