My first was Dark Souls 3. My buddy pulled it up, handed me a control, and told me to play. I died 10 times against the crystal dog, and then proceeded to get slaughtered brutally for a solid twenty minutes by the first boss because I was too stubborn to give up and too bad at dodging to win. I finally beat it, told my friend, who just sat there laughing his ass off at my eternal suffering and insane rage screaming, that I would never play a game like this again, and now here I am, having beat every Souls game but Sekiro and Bloodborne. They are a fantastic gaming franchise.

That's because you're supposed to find and fight Henrick first, and then be joined later by Eileen. If you find her already there that means she's almost certainly already dead. To be on the safe side, just check in on Eileen often as she relocates and the moment she moves to cathedral ward and starts mentioning Henrick immediately book it there. Otherwise, between one boss and the next she will get there first and get herself killed.

@@MuffinHunterX You were just lucky. Arriving second is doing the quest in the wrong order. It's not _quite_ an automatic loss, but depending on how much you dilly dallied within the area after it has loaded (say, after arriving at the Cathedral Ward lamp) she may have just fought him for the minute it takes to climb down the ladder and run there or already have been locked in combat long enough to be a hit from death. Additionally, you make the already somewhat hard mission of keeping Eileen alive when she's at full health and joining after Henrick is at half into something very hard since Eileen is already injured and Henrick may not. All in all, arriving second is always making it unnecessarily difficult, so the best advice remains to keep an eye on Eileen and immediately deal with Henrick when she brings him up. The safe bet is to just check up on her after every boss by warping to Cathedral Ward and seeing if she's there yet, and what she's saying.
