Just found out on ancestor dna and 23and me traced it to Saami roots on mums side. It’s funny the similarities in spiritual etc. Yet no generic or geographical evidence of intermingle, Ive always been drawn to Sioux music and spirituality. Never knew who saami were till today. Any info and help would be great as is quite limited.
D Man thank you for confirmation, also I see a lot of mix ethnicity or origins(trying to be correct lol) like some ppl look more Inuit and some look Russian,Mongolian ish, and others look native indian/
D Man again thankyou so so so much, Bouhhris my friend. All knowledge is good to me , I am always is search of truth wisdom ....and feel a weird connectivity towards saami...always gravitated toward 2 groups ppl , being Sioux mainly and Rasta (back to basics as best can, and reduce my footprint) also I find very interesting the shamanistic side of things, kinda vibrates with me big time. Again thank you D Man, most appreciated ,and I hope to travel to my ancestors land and experience the culture and history. Feel proud and curious. Thank you brother
Growing up people assumed I had “Chinese” in me due to my asiatic eyes which is not the case. I love my unique physical traits inherited from the Saami side of my family 💜
this is so beautiful.... I so love Sami Joik... I appreciate your culture and your songs are more than beautiful.. absolutely out of this world.. I do suffer from depression and anxiety and I do therapy.. do drawings and crafts for recovery.. and I need music so much to do my stuff and get well again.. THIS is what cures my mind.. amazing... THANK you so much.... xxx regards from UK
The most sensitive, intelligent and compassionate people that i know, suffer from anxiety and depression. If anyone can through this life without going through depression,i think that they're probably the ones who are in greatest need of some Yoik. God bless ye mate. Stay strong.
Jojk is so amazing. It hit's me right in the heart. Having a daughter myself I just get superemotional hearing this. I'm so proud that I live in a country with this amazing culture. And at the same time so ashamed of all the shit the government put the Sami-people through in the past. It is truly a national treasure that should be cherished for eternity
@@dominikaboch4296 of course all the people who participated in the atrocities are responsible, members of government or not. But that it was supported by the government must be one of the biggest betrayal a country can do to its citizens
@Amalie Olsdatter one this is for sure and that is to ensure that the sámi gets the support they need from our government. That children get funded their right to learn their first language I school, that sámi parliaments voices are heard etc 🌟
The governement put other groups through that aswell. The Romani/Travellers were on the edge of extinction from the swedish governement and their friends in Germany and beyond the German fall. Every Traveller family in Sweden know about the sterilization resulting in no children, the "fostercare" of our children and the forced assimilation to swedish society. The Roma people or the Travellers or the "Tattare" is a forgotten group.
@@dominikaboch4296 When your ancestral lands are stolen from you, your holy men killed and holy drums burned, get your sculls and nose measured in the early days of eugenics, you are forced to leave away your children to Swedish state run school and be forcefully assimilated the list can go on and the oppression is not a part of the past. The Sami people are constantly having their rights as a native population trample over by the Swedish state... The suicide rate among Sami youth stands out from the rest of the population as a result of racism towards Sami people, the hopelessness of being ignored and seeing your future being taken away from you from all directions. Right now there is talk about starting a mine close to Sami land and reindeer paths. The mine threatens to destroy the reindeer pastures forever and thus also destroy the Sami culture. The government is due to decide on this in March, and during the negotiations the state representatives have, without blinking an eye or feeling ashamed, spouted the most racist claims that the Sami culture is dying out and they must sooner or later be assimilated into the rest of society, uncritically reading out arguments from the 19th century. Sweden has received a lot of criticism from both the UN and Amnesty for the way they violate the rights of the Sami. amnesty.se/aktuellt/aven-nar-det-handlar-om-karlek-maste-regelverket-och-rattigheterna-respekteras-karl-petter-thorwaldsson/
Saami, please don't lose your culture and your mother tongue!!! save your language for the whole world! we need these magical songs, they purify the mind and soul. thank you.
@@Maelle6569 there is a prophecy among our people that says,..one day we would meet our light skinned brothers and sisters,..I was born and raised in my traditional spiritual ways.Taught by my uncle's aunt's, grandfather's,..I come from a long line of holy men and holy women going back hundreds of years,..the story of our light skinned brothers and sisters is a long one,I knew of the Sami since childhood,.. ,"HENAH-MITAKUYEPI" in my Lakota language it means "these are my relatives".
I stay in march for my 1st time in sapmi. The greatest landscape form warm and great people. I will come back to the north. The Region ist to change the visitors.
This is wonderful, great understanding of the tradition plus made in a modern style., Definitely love it! I wish to hear more from you soon (like an album or something).
Hei Maxida, din røst er sterk (strong) og den kan hørest over fjellheimen ( the mountians) her oppe i nord. Takk for at du skaper liv. Kräm från Tromsø (også Karlsøya .. )
Knowing that it's an old tradition, this is beautiful in a current sort of way. It's funny how many people seem to want lyrics, i.e. specific meaning, to these songs. I love this one.
I share the same last name with Maxida. I don't know if I have Sammi heritage. When I listen to this music it sure does make me feel like I do. thank you Maxida.
En: I have to admit, this is really good. She has a soft-to-strong voice which matches well with the relaxing music and I think it was a nice addition to have that rattle-like instrument sound to enhance the rhythm. Sve: Jätte bra! :) (Jag inte talar bra svenska). Fin: MIelestäni aika hyvä musiikki & laulu kombinaatio. Todella hyvin tehty.
Sag ditt program Sapmi Sisters! Fett bra program, riktiga talanger bada systrar!
Is this track on Spotify? When I type NikeSunnas Jojk in, a different sounding song is playing. More banjo-y. This version really appeals to me. If anybody knows how to find it in there, i'd appreciate the heads-up.
Keep Repeating this So relaxing and Beautiful and Emotional at same time while i dont understand the Language Im sure from 24% of Scandivanian and 4% Finland this was part of my Heritage
Yes i hear it from all sides deep in the soul just like Lisa Gerrard and several others that touch my sould its a SAMI JOLK Im learning more about my Heritage over there I guess you cant call it a Langauge really then My Bad Take Care
Please Maxida can you share the lyrics in the Sámi and an English translation it would mean so much to my soul. I was raised in USA but my Grandmother is Sámi
