lol so much joy watching them dance. This is what WCS is all about, fun to watch and fun to dance! Such a great matching couple!

I will never grow tired of swing dancing to swing music. As the younger generation drifts farther away from the sounds that inspired the creators it is so nice to see a couple that still gets it. Easy to watch, understand & dance, This is good in so many ways. BRAVO! SOME DAYS I PRAY for a comeback of classic, retro swing music. There are a lot of dancers these days who's bodies seem unfamiliar with the sound of SWING music.

Actually swing dances are very popular again... WCS, lindy hop, shag etc and that's manly young people who love the music
@DanceJudge
@DanceJudge 4 года назад
@@rachelmorganaliasme I know about all of the dances and yes WCS I popular with young dancers but as it a contemporary dance , the contemporary music that is popular right now is not so much what musicians would call SWING music. Thus there are alot of people learning to Swing without hearing or FEELING Swing music. I can't imagine any Lindy Hop classes that don't play Lindy music but in WCS people are dancing interpretively to contemporary music all of the time. I see a stylistic trend for men to dance with arms and legs wide, no hip action but some upper body waves,, cross between a snake charmer and Axl Rose (if you're old enough to know Axl, LOl) Newer styling to women is the Duck under , or bend overs and booty shakes or The duck under and cop a squat. Back in the day it would have been rude to push a ladies head down & squatting isn't pretty but now the ladies do it all the time, on purpose. Men with one hand in the air like they are attempting 8 seconds on a bull is kinda recent too.

@DanceJudge I see what you mean. For me however this is the best part about WCS. That it is so extremely versitle and that you can express yourself to different kinds of music with it. As I am trained in ballroom as well as hip hop I am very happy that I can incorporate a bit of both technics in a dance. I however agree that swing in a classical way should be focused on more. I think a balance between modern interpretations and classical songs would be great (as you are right we are hearing less of this really swinging music nowadays) I however appreciate that the dance is evolving and reinventing itself. I personally think that it is important to add new moves to dance or it will one time be one of the ancient dances no one remembers.

@@rachelmorganaliasme You don't have to tell me, I've been dancing WCS and teaching & judging Ballroom & more since the 80s . I attended Madonna's very first concert & I was the only one dressed exactly like her. They gave me a backstage pass for the next night. I brought my Madonna CD to the WCS dance ,begging for them to play it but they weren't ready , said the members didn't want to hear any pop music. I kept telling them if they wanted any younger people they would have to start playing younger music, it was debated for years, by the time I went to a dance and heard more current music than old , I was no longer a youngin.

Yes, WoW!. They incorporated some old swing jive and/or Lindy / Boogie style moves into their WCS which fit perfectly in the muscality of the dance, adding some flare and uniqueness to it. Wonderful, Well Done!
