I literally can watch this 1 million times and never get bored of it. They both are truly amazing and have such chemistry. Love them both. I just found out yesterday 12/27/23 that Jason passed away in 2009 and I never knew it. R.I.P you're gliding with the angels.❤
I've done a heck of a lot in my lifetime way beyond the average expectation, but sometimes I think I would give up all my successes (maybe almost all) if I could rock the house with a once-in-a-lifetime dance routine that would play forever on the Internet. All glory and respect for those very special people who can really (really!) dance well.
A lot of time and training went into those dances. That said, take a few lessons with your honey. Then you and her let the music move you. That is really what it's all about.
Every couple of months I come back to this wonderful performance by two amazing dancers -- just to lift my spirits! Breaks my heart that Jason is no longer with us, but this joyful dance will stay with us forever!
I hate dancing! Yet, I comment here, not as a judge since I neither dance nor watch dancing or even care, so that is why it means even more that this dance to me is so mesmerizing that I watch it over and over! I don't know why it's attractive to me. Is it magical, hypnotic or concealing weaponized mind control technology from DARPA to perhaps distract enemies? This dance and no other is exclusively attractive to me and watching it I felt so lively and in high spirits that I was questioning if I really hate dancing, so I ever so briefly sampled watching other dancing with a resounding nope -- I do hate dancing! Yet, this dance is amazingly enjoyable. How is this possible! Now, as I type this, I have it in a nonstop loop enjoying it, yet I hate dancing!
I am told Jason passed away a few years after this. Katie seems to have pretty much disappeared from dancing after that. How unfortunate, they were a powerful team together. Hope life has been kind to her.
I don’t remember what happened to him but I do remember reading that he passed away); They were phenomenal it seems like I’ve seen her dance with somebody else though after that. But its been quite in a while
@@stevenmathews7621 I see that too. But apparently Jason continued to not only thrill his audiences but surprise them too. Even other masters of Swing Dance were surprised by some moves Jason invented.
Jacob W. Davis and Levi Strauss invented blue jeans in 1871 and patented them in 1873. Now here we are 150 years later, and that is the finest, sexiest pair of women's blue jeans I have ever seen. Katie…Jacob and Levi would be proud.
@No... What did the dyslexic atheist say as he pointed up into the sky? "I don't believe in Dog"! Personally, I kept wondering why she had a bare midriff - didn't see anyone else likewise. And, Yeah, I had to watch it a third time too... And a fourth...
Crazy chemistry!! I could watch their videos for hours! Just watching them is soul stirring. Their interpretations are always on point! They are beautiful together. 😊 He left behind images that will be enjoyed for a very long time. He was a gift. 💝
This is a great combination athleticism, dancing talent, rhythm, sync, attraction and style. The guys cheering in the background are also entertaining.
@@jt1364 I'm so, so sorry, I just came across this on RU-vid and I didn't know 😭 I googled later on and I was mortified; honestly, i just couldn't imagine; again sorry
@@GPDuchess The same just happened to me. I came across this video last night, left a short but ecstatic comment, as I don't remember ever seen so much talent, grace, sync, sexyness in a duo like these two, only to find out a few minutes later in the comments that he passed away at the age of 31. What grief...
Wonderful control and expression at all times. Her hip movements are really wonderful and they make the transitions between dance moves appear seamless. His dancing is deliberately less elaborate in places, to highlight her contribution, but then he matches her style in all of the right places. Wonderful dancers, and a great piece of music accompanying them too.
I couldn't keep my eyes off Jason. He got the masculinity, the moves and the talent to charm many. I am shock to hear that he passed away this young. My condolences to his friends and loved ones.
It is an impossibility to find fault with the dancing of this couple, I have watched this clip (along with many of their other routines) so many times, and I am STILL in awe of them. Sadly he has now passed away, and she has given up dancing, but these clips still give me hours of pleasure.
I have no idea how many hours of practice they both put in to this dance routine, but its a credit to you both, it was beautiful to watch. And a lesson to new dances to practice, practice, practice until you dance and enjoy it as much as they must of, going by there smiles.
Incredible routine for an incredible dance couple!! 😮 They made it look effortless... They had such chemistry together, although apparently they were just dear friends. I was sorry to learn that Jason's life was cut short. RIP 😇
I am an old guy now, (85 years in fact) but I used to love to go out dancing, and when I need a "Pick me up" which quite often, this is my "Go To" track, they are sensational.
@@xlerosx I was replying to the guy who was shocked that Jason is dead. Sadly, yes he is dead. I had no intention of commenting on the quality of the dance rendition.
This is the video that got me into watching dance videos, a cascade that has brought so much cheer into my life. I wish we could still see him dance and see how he would have evolved. But grateful for the record of his talent, their talent together, that is left behind here for all of us to keep enjoying.
I love the people in the background that can't contain their emotion. They look like competitors but they got to respect this performance. This dance is just fire!
@@tabathastaples7884 And god said,"Spread my word......on RU-vid. For i will give you everlasting life if you copy and paste comments on the internet."
They’re always like that at West Coast Swing competitions. West Coast Swing is one of my and my husband‘s favorite dances. Very complex rules but oh so fun!
UNBELIEVABLE! I coukd watch this ALL DAY and NEVER tire of it. The 3 guys in the background were just as much fun to watch they were TOTALLY INTO IT! It's so sad Jason passed away at such an eatly age, but believe you me, he LEFT an everlasting memory for us all in this one dance alone. They
I have watched this many times and just can't get enough! I am deeply moved by learning of Jason 's death. I guess I didn't read any of the comments, just watched them dance. They did an amazing job!!!! I will continue to bring it up and watch it over and over!
I highly recommend you taking lessons to experience it yourself. I have been dancing this dance for 25 years. It totally becomes a huge part of your life after you get it grooving. So many magical moments. It helps if you are musical, but I have seen those who are not natural at it eventually become quite good. I was fortunate to see Jason and Katie dance at conventions many times. I remember so many of these moments over the years where you "surf" a huge wave of audience elation and it is such a high, like you see here in the background. Your face will hurt smiling so wide. I cannot remember if I was at this particular competition but I have been to many dance events with this level of enjoyment. This dance is spreading across the globe, catch the wave:)
She makes me want to be her..wow! Such a great video. I find myself watching it everytime it pops up on my screen. Jason does a great job showcasing her too. I am so sorry to hear of his passing.
@@lauradonaldson3269 I copied this part of the info about Jason from an article from 2009.... "According to Colacino's family and Boyle, the cause for his death was a case of pneumonia together with an enlarged heart, resulting in a heart attack."
@@howardmanley3388 Do you know his age and the cause of his death? Just wondering...I had a brother who died at 56, mostly from being over weight, which led to all his other problems.
This is the first time I’d ever seen West Coast Swing. Blew my mind. No dance video has ever hit me the same. I thought it was just because this was the first time I’d ever seen it. Thought maybe it was the novelty of West Coast Swing done to country music, but ultimately decided it really is just the performance of these two artists. Watched a lot of dance videos in the years since and regularly come back to this one to just be amazed.
@@yvonnehardaway257 Glad to hear it. It's a shame that Jason Colacino died due to pneumonia and cardiac arrest at the age of 31 on August 9, 2009. Why do you like it?
The dance world lost an icon when Jason passed away in 2009 from pneumonia and an enlarged heart. He was an only child. He left his grieving parents, his grieving dance partners, and many grieving friends and dance fans. I imagine him somewhere in heaven dancing with beautiful angels for partners. A talent like that would not be given to use only here on earth. Rest in peace Jason. You brought joy to so many in your 31 years on this earth.
You are so right about losing such a talented man too early in life.... What I can't understand is how he was so sick but so extremely active.... I tried to find further details surrounding his illness but not much out there.... RIP JASON 🙏
Wow, that's terrible. 😔 Many years ago, I had a dance instructor who was an older gentleman,.. even though he was going into his 80's, he was still an amazingly talented dancer. He could keep up no problem with all us youngsters. When he passed, none of us believed it. Just like now, I'm watching this very young man, and can't believe he's gone well before his time. I feel terrible for everyone in his life who's lost him, I'm sure there are many people who feel the loss.
Yes, but technically, she did not spin him. She hangs back and he spins himself. Jason could spin like VERY few men could.... perhaps better than any man... ever... in the history of the world. lol.
Hey Brad, I can go along with you there, I am 85, and I too have been around quite a bit, but this is sheer sex set to music, her movement is so fluid that I reckon her bones are made of rubber.
Yes it's a very sexy dance I love the way he looks at her and she responds so happily and joyfully and really into the spirit of the song you know the the song is sexy and she responds that way really enjoying herself with the wonderful Jason
Only just seen this. Such an amazing dance, but such a sad story. At least this golden moment was captured forever. Love those guys throwing cowboy shapes at the back. RIP Jason
That "Lift!" at 0:30...Katie's hips seemingly mounted on ball-bearing/universal joints...(plus the 'sauciness' for fun!) One of the most incredible, AND MOST ENJOYABLE!!!, dance performances I've ever seen. RIP Jason
I love the way that Jason leads and places his lady. It’s a joy to dance with a man that can do that. What a superb duo. I also got a kick out of watching the ecstatic audience when I did a number of replays.
Found completely by accident but was so impressed I watched the whole dance. They killed! Every single bit of it was performed consistently and the choreography was just perfect! I looked at other comments and was sad to read that this man died. I'm so sorry, to all of his loved ones.
It's like they were meant to dance together. I miss him so much. Every dance they did was right on time.. I can only imagine what they would have came up with , should he had still been with us
This routine is amazing in so many ways. 1) The rendition/song by Travis Tritt (which has to be one of the most joyous versions of Honkey Tonk Women) is subtly edited to hit just the highest points....and the undeniable very American country swagger this version brings ...is perfect for the competition and dance. 2) They did this in Blue Jeans.....pause and think about that. 3) He is amazing in control, especially how he mixes latin moves with country-line. It is a testament to what makes something great - a balanced mix - I think he is from the Central Valley in California and studied dance in NYC... Perfect. 4) She hits every note to perfection and is the equal. Oh those amazing HIPS! They seem inseparable. I wish we could learn more about her performances. 5) Their combined look could not be more SEXY-BINGO. 6) The crowd in the background is THE best part - absolute BEST, because their joy is our joy.
Just started watching these videos. I'm in love. This couple is perfection. Too bad Jason passed. I was greatly saddened hearing that. But the beautiful videos we have to remember him. Kate is great
Jason's soul lives on through his true talent and love for the dancefloor. He played her like an instrument. RIP Jason.....I know the Angel's are loving you....♥️🌹
Hello 👋 Lorraine. How are you doing? Hope are you fine. I'm Zack Hudson and am from Denver Colorado, where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
Who says you need a ball gown, high heels, a fancy suit and dress shoes to look really sharp dancing? These two make jeans look just fine and they move together magnificently. She has a cool butt wiggle and they both swirl together excellently. How can dancing be so much fun? TOO COOL!!!

@@Daveoceanair oh wow, that is so sad. He looked so full of life, young, handsome, and talented. Oh man - his parents and family must've been devastated. So very sad.
So sad that he passed so early in life. Jason Colacino was born on August 20, 1977, and unfortunately passed away on August 9th, 2009 at just 31 years old. Jason suffered pneumonia and cardiac arrest and later it was discovered he had an enlarged heart.
