For me, it's Max's reaction videos. I still go back and watch his reactions to Cloud and Sephiroth in Smash, or the original KI 2013 reveal. Even the recent reaction to the MvC collection was great because he was clearly blind-sided by it. They're very real and represent just how much he loves this genre of video games and how much he wants to champion them when they do something great. I always enjoy his EVO restreams, now that he's doing them.
@@RGF91i know almost nothing about American football, and I don’t have any interest in it, but YoVG playing NFL Blitz is still one pf my favourite stream events every year. It’s always super hype, and brings out the best (and worst lol) in the crew
before max there was fighters Generation, a fighting game website that gave me news, art, store, music and most of all information on games and character history.....
I can vouch to what Max said about finding a character you relate to or find similarities with. That process is truly magical. When Lidia Sobieska released in Tekken 7, I spent more time playing Tekken than I ever had before. In Tekken 8, Lidia released earlier this summer, and I haven’t stopped playing Tekken 8 since.
I agree 100%. I'm aware it's not like that for everyone, but for me personally, I'd rather play a low tier character I can truly identify and have fun with due to their personality, unique fighting style or just general vibe, instead of playing a top tier simply to have an easier time ranking up or winning games. (In fact I even enjoy the struggle with low tiers to some extent, makes me feel even better when getting that W 😅)
@@GenderNeutch yea that was the same thing I had when I played Miguel in t7 he was garbage before season 3 and I still played him cuz he was fun to me and scratched my itch of a brawler in a fighting game
@@GodoMatrix I don’t have to be polish to relate to her. I can relate to the character because I practiced a form of karate for ten years. It’s a different style of karate, but there are many similarities in the style she uses and the style I practiced. Horse stance, cat stance, etc. Also, a family member of hers died when she was young. Same with me.
I feel you. I got into Tekken for my love of Jackie Chan with Lei Wulong in Tekken 2, and have been buying Tekken ever since purely because of him (even though he was regulated to DLC in T7 and isn't in T8... yet...🤞). My first Virtua Fighter was VF4 and I was completely blown away with Lei-Fei. So much so I went on to hold my own with him dominantly online in competitive play in both VF5 Final Showdown and Ultimate Showdown. If I was rapper my name would be 2-Lei
Max got me into fighting games in late 2020. I’m glad it was him and YoVideoGames. They just love the games they’re playing and are just incredible people. Thank you Max!
I got into Max’s content due to our shared love of Final Fantasy 7, but once I saw he was big into fighting games I became a big fan. I grew up enamored with fighting games and seeing his love and passion for the genre is always exciting to see. He’s done so much for the community.
Max and the YOVIDEOGAMES remind me of my friends and I gaming at our places or arcades. These guys continue being best friends, showing annoyance and positivity towards eachother. ‼️SHINE ON‼️
Yes!! Reminds me of me and my cousins playing fighting games together. We’d be in tears laughing, trash talking and just having a great time. The best were when some funny ass glitches would happen and we’d all be on the floor dying.
Watching Max talking about arcade games recall a lot of my childhood memories even though I was living in South East Asia. Not related much, but a shooting game guy in 6:05 has just passed away this June.
This is why FGC is the greatest genre. Arcade and Fighting Games forced people to be social. To be out there hanging out with other people, to ask and talk with other people about the game and tech, and knowledge and sharing combos and way of playing. For things like this is why the FGC is the most honest, pure, outgoing, social and accessible community to be part of it. You see on other genres how people are so ruthless, rude, with 0 social skills, with 0 ways of behaving around people. FGC got none of that. They are always the nicest people to be around. I love FGC man. I like you all mf's you guys are the best community i had ever be part of
@@lampad4549 Huh? Literally none of that is gone dude what are ya talking about? Arcades may not be as big at least in the states anymore save for places like Round 1, but FGC locals and tourneys are going strong all over the country and all over the world for that matter. The FGC is alive and well.
When I grew up I always thought fighting games were beyond me, something I could never be able to get good at or master. When I stumbled across Max he explained fighting games in a way which draws you in and makes you realise how much it's about the community more than anything else. I picked up Tekken 7 and never looked back.
Max is the reason we all have a nostalgic connection reborn through the fighting games we play and cherish. Long live fgc and may it always be a place for everyone to cherish and appreciate one another. Thank you forever for your work Max, Benny shine on in peace, you beautiful soul.
If it wasn't for his Assist Me! series for Marvel vs Capcom and the boss rage series, I would not have gotten really into fighting games as much. Plus seeing YoVideogames playing games from the past and present is always fun to watch.
I came from a very rural southern town and i grew up playing local people and I too agree on how fighting game characters allow you to express yourself and its why ive always stuck to the genre.
Max is a LEGEND. We live in different countries, different cultures but because of fighting games and same age gap it feels like I know him from a long time.
Killer instinct 2013 ...I would love not a sequel but take the existing game and basically give it a massive overhaul improve the visual add more characters and stages and modes. The game for the budget and lack of time it had was incredible......but the fact Microsoft did not give it a budget as they saw it as a next gen Xbox live arcade game.
Honestly, I think the problem lies in the game engine. I'm not too sure on a lot of the details, but I know that even doing costumes was difficult. I'd be surprised if most of what you would think would be easier to do if they stayed with this version, would actually be more difficult than building it in a new engine like UE or whatever custom engine that would be designed for a new KI.
Ive been subbed to max for over 10 years and never miss a video. Max has done so much for the fgc and its obvious why he has so much support. Great dude 👍💯
Killer Instinct on the SNES is what I played at like a childhood neighborhood kid's place. Marvel vs Capcom when it first came out was a huge deal. I remember seeing Third Strike in arcades back in the day. I never had a DreamCast. Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 was great, but I think a lot of people are still annoyed how it was less than a year between the original version; especially since the DLC from the vanilla version had just released. I'm surprised that Killer Instinct (2013) hasn't gotten a PS5 release.
Arcades in the 90’s were such a special place to be growing up. The hype of seeing a cool combo, a close match, or a fatality. The way Max feels about KI and MvC is the way I feel about Tekken and MK, (although MvC2 is one of my all time favorites). I grew up playing fighting games (SF, MK, KI, Tekken, vs Series) with my cousins and Tekken 3 was the first game where I was the person that had the win streak at the arcade that was beating everyone. It was such an awesome feeling. And then I played Tekken Tag religiously when that came and even entered tournaments (and managed to actually win one! Which helped me afford a PS2). Glad to see Max get his flowers, he’s a great ambassador for the FGC and he has the type of personality you would generally see at the arcades which is why it was always chill. People got a long and would socialize and help each other for the most part.
Max is definitely a pillar of the community. Though my experience with fighting games started with mk on the Super Nintendo and I was a kid because my aunt and uncle played it. I got introduced to a community in college when I was bringing KOF2006 In to play and from the Dreamcast with DOA to that was a jump but fun as a whole. Though KI is still worth the play as there’s a lot to learn and I always appreciated learning from a gaming and knowledge perspective
Back in the day I also played SF2 in a 7/11. They location always had two games SF2 and the other one would get rotated in and out but SF2 was a constant.
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo At a Bravos Grocery Store 1994 for me I was only 4 years old also Samurai Shodown I encountered this game everywhere back In the 1990's so much Haohmaru was my man and he still is
If l had to choose my top 5 fighting games, it's: 1) Marvel vs Capcom 2 2) Battle Arena Toshinden 3) Primal Rage 4) Killer Instinct (original) 5) Bloody Roar
MVC3 was the game that I sunk hundreds of hours into instead of studying in high school, and without Max's videos I wouldn't have gotten as into it as I did. He taught me how to use so many combos as well as teaching me so many fighting game terms. Plus they were fun, my friends to this day get salty about how good I am with Taskmaster and I learned all his bread and butter combos from max
oh damn im the same age as max. no wonder many of our history aligns. although i never really got into killer instict and mostly stuck to capcom and mortal kombat.
ive been playing fighting games casually since i was little on ps2 but watching Max's assist me and online warrior videos in my teen years really got me to start trying to learn how to play these games outside of just mashing on the buttons and stuff
Still pissed ki 2013 isn't on PlayStation. I'm still debating buying a xb1 to get it or a modern xbox. Probably the only xbox game I would really boot up tbh.
Always wanted to be really good at fighting games from as early as he was when he got into it. The idea of putting in a 9-5 to work on my combo trials when I'm already exhausted from everything else doesn't sound great but I still wish I were the old dude at Evo sometimes. Can't wait for CotW next year.
Born in 88 never got to fight with the big bois til i think i could reach a cab. I can't imagine a fighting game at 711's to have ppl grab n buy snacks, drink beer or smoke weed behind the 711 must have been a tight fun space. Lol grew up playing with friends in the arcade n dreamcast mahvel 2
1. Street Fighter 2 (snes) 2. Super Street Fighter 2 (snes) 3. Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo 4. Street Fighter 3: Third Strike 5. Killer Instinct (snes)
lm NOT max but l am my own person but l will say my first game that made me love fighting games was SF2, went move a dudes house and he had SF2 and l just instantly fell in love with FGs than l played Tekken tag one at a movie theater and thats when l found my sec love, tekken......... than l went to a game store that was connected to a movie place we could rent games and movies and l saw snk vs capcom 2, played that game everyday when l bought it, didnt have friends just played it by myself... loved it.... Than at the end of my long lasting relationships with FGs l met the one game that made me really love and understand fighting games.... MVC 1 and 2....rented those games 5 times and played them religously.... those games where apart of my life.....
I wish i ripped all of maxes assist me eps and had them on a dvd ❤️❤️❤️ what a fin time in my life with friends we were all into the game and hit up a local tournament together. St. Valentine's day massacre in santee san diego, met ppl to sign my old stick like Justin wong n noah. Fanatiq let me borrow his controller n dios x washed me on stream lol
I fukin love this dude and evo and fg too bad its too niche in my country atleast (still a number of players but) I WANT TO REBORN IN ARCADE TIMES IN US
Max is actually willing to try just about anything. He's even spent streams playing MUGEN before lol. Honestly if there's any game he's a "sucker" for it's probably MvC2 or 3rd Strike. He treats those games like the holy grail of the genre and I don't think he'll ever stop.
