Great video. Most people don't maintain their equipment properly. I always clean my stuff after every use. I also have a ball spinner and a rejuvenator. This video is great knowledge for people who may not know how to maintain their stuff. Thanks

Enjoyed the video. Also a great place to bowl. Back in 2022 my wife and I were vacationing in Alaska (brought a bowling ball -a Gem- in my carry-on bag) and passed through Anchorage several times stopping at Center Bowl each time. It just so happened to be located across the street from the car rental company we used.

Yes! Ball Maintenance is key! To add more onto what you've already mentioned, get your inserts replaced if you use them. And to those that use tape, re-up on it...

Great and informative video! I use a ball spinner at home and resurface my equipment usually twice a year when needed. I also spin clean my balls after resurfacing and polish. I like to rejuvenate my balls and can you tell me the idea temperature and how long to let the ball soak in water for all the oil to come out? I use to do that years ago but was not experience enough to do it which messed my balls up for the reason I stopped.

Is it OK to use Lane Ghost to clean your reactive cover stock bowling ball?
@carollsaks

Could you please name the products that you use to clean the ball? I didn’t hear the names of those you suggested. I run a very loose league here in Naples, Florida…only two games in each session so we’re not sanctioned and we go for 20 weeks. Some of the ladies are even still using alley balls. I’m going to send out your excellent video to the league to help those who have purchased a ball to help them keep it in tip top shape Thank you so much.

I currently use KR and Storm products for my cleaning and polishing. There are other products like CTD and Brunswick products that work great as well. Thank you for the support!

I keep mines is ball boxes in the garage it doesn’t get to hot or cold where I stay so I think I’m ok I did crack a ball years ago because I kept it in my ball bag that wasn’t secured enough it was hotter in my car at that time so it’s been fine over the years in my car because I got a better bag now.

Hi! Thanks for this video. I have a question, If the ball stays in the car (hot place) not for too long but enough to bring the oil out to the cover stock, just wipe it and use the oil remover? Would this kinda be like a rejuvenating process?
@RevItUpBowling
@RevItUpBowling 5 дней назад
I would just clean it good with a ball cleaner. Get the oil off the top of the coverstock. But you’re right, the rejuvenators that use heat is a very similar process. Just much easier to control the temp. To much heat and it’ll cause problems with the ball

I am an advanced bowler, but due to age and injuries, I throw nothing but plastic. My Lucite clear rose ball hooks as much as my contemporary's resin balls. I have more problems with my pancake spare ball not going straight enough. I do need to polish my Rose at least every other week.

The nearest pro shop to me is 90 minutes but the one I typically use, esp for drilling, is over 2 hours. Would you say doing some hand resurfacing can get you by until that rejuvenate is necessary or do you think a spinner investment would be warranted? How can I learn the best process for altering the surface of each ball i have? I foubt each ball would be done the same way.
@johnls39
@johnls39 3 месяца назад
Invest in a ball spinner which will save you time and money when it comes to resurfacing and spin cleaning. I have a spinner and don't use the pro shop much except for drilling new equipment.

You can always just get the pads and do it by hand. Sure you won't get a mirror polish by hand but it'll come close. So it works just fine by hand.

Can you still use scotch brite to dull a ball? Can a 30 yr old ball benefit from the rejuvinater
@RevItUpBowling
@RevItUpBowling 3 месяца назад
You can use a scotch brite pad on your equipment. It’s hard to say about that ball. If it’s reactive resin then maybe it will help. I’d give it a shot and see what it does

My ball spray says to wait 5-10 seconds after spraying and before wiping. Assuming that’s to penetrate the oils better than a simple spray then wipe without waiting like in this video?
@RevItUpBowling
@RevItUpBowling 3 месяца назад
You’re right about that. Some cleaners are a little different so make sure you read the directions first. Thanks for the message!

If my ball is a 4000 grit or 3000 grit stock do i refinish it with the same 4000 or 3000 grit pad? Looks like some take a 4000 grit ball and refinish with 1000 or 2000.
@seanwillis8483
@seanwillis8483 3 месяца назад
I don't know the formula. But you need a lower grit to get the scratches out. Then you can finish off with a higher girt. I think a resurface will got down to 500 grit before working up to a higher grit.
@underrated7602
@underrated7602 3 месяца назад
@seanwillis8483 I get that just wondering why some just polish it to more or less than stock. My guess is for various lane conditions. Example if a stock ball isn't hooking or hooking too much.

I think after a few years of regular use sometimes a ball is too far gone to be salvaged and you’re throwing your money away trying to restore it.
@RevItUpBowling
@RevItUpBowling 2 месяца назад
I agree. At some point, there’s no reason to throw more money at a ball like that. I try to be as honest as possible with my customers when making that decision. Sometimes it’s better to start fresh. Thanks for watching!

what is the difference between detoxing and baking to extract oil? i’ve heard baking is bad for storm balls in particular? i have a phaze v and i’ve bowled close to 100 games on heavy lane conditions and was looking to have the oil extracted and repolished to factory finish. also, silly question, does baking or detoxing affect the scent?
@RevItUpBowling
@RevItUpBowling 2 месяца назад
That’s a great question! I honestly couldn’t give you an exact answer. I’ve personally never had any issues with either system. I use a bake reviver way more and have had no issues at all. As far as the scent, I haven’t seen a difference before and after. However I never thought of that so I’ll try to pay attention to that more. Thanks!!

What is your “go to” surface?
@RevItUpBowling
@RevItUpBowling 3 месяца назад
I wish I could tell you I have a go to but it all depends on what I need out of the ball. On house shot I rarely used a ton of surface or something at 4000 polish. Going back to box finish is a good place to start when you experiment with surfacing
