First off, I enjoyed watching your video and appreciate you making one. Not many vids out there that aren't from Canadian tire sponsored guys. I want to say couple things about some of the remarks you made about it that I don't necessarily agree with OR have experienced myself. I got mine in early 2018 and my battery fitment is still as good as it was when new both using the 2.0ah batteries and the 4.0ah BUT I use mine for tire swapping 3-4 vehicles a year for winter and few odd jobs here and there. Talking about the battery you mentioned an hour ish for charging but the rate of charge of the provided chargers charges the 2.0ah batts in 30min and the 4.0ah batts in an hour give or take base on battery voltage left in the pack when charging. I haven't had my LED fail so can't comment on that. BUT now here's my 2cents on the BALL DETENT. You commented it being "weak" at holding the socket BUT if you pay attention to the sockets you were using and I think they looked like the maximum brand of sockets they DO NOT have a groove inside them like other sockets do. Grab another socket set that has those grooves on all 4 edges and you will find the ball does a great job at holding the sockets in places and in my case I've had some stick so good I needed flat screwdriver to pry it off. Then you mentioned at the same time aligning the pin detent with hole in the socket and voila it does good job at holding. This is however where I think something is wrong with it and why I had to have mine service under warranty because the ball popped out of the anvil. If you grab a normal 1/2 wrench with a ball detent you will see the ball they use is much larger then on the power tool and when fitted to a maximum branded socket there is no way the ball would be able to pass through the socket and pop out however when you use a MAXIMUM branded socket attached to this power tool you will notice the ball is sized small enough that it can pop out of the anvil and pass right through the socket. But now if you rotate and position the socket so the hole is NOT align with the ball in the anvil then you run into the issue you pointed out in your video that is doesn't hold very well BUT AGAIN look inside those maximum sockets and you will see they DO NOT have those grooves other sockets have.

For their price and really, access to sales, Maximum and Mastercraft tools are good value I'd say. The thing that really holds them back like you mentioned was the battery line, and what else you can add to the shared platform. When the batteries/chargers need to be replaced, that can also be costly as you'll very rarely find these on the secondary market or from other retailers.
@WadeofAllTrades

True. The batteries are only at CT and very rarely go on sale. They are not too bad for price but I think the other brands will go on sale and can probably get them for less sometimes.

Appreciate the video of the maximum brand. I don't think makita mades/designed this store branded impact especially considering this is 20volt. There are alot of companies that make makita look-alike copies that are extremely close. I think if you tore this and a makita apart they would be completely different. I couldn't find the link to that video you mentioned. Thanks

I do agree 100% with your comment about the battery line of tools and it's something I completely did not do at the start when I started buying into it. I find it strange that their other line (mastercraft) has some 20v tools that the maximum brand doesn't.

Thanks for taking the time to watch and leave valuable feedback! Much appreciated. Yeah I did get that wrong about the charge times, oops. I have used a number of different brands of sockets but never noticed about the groove on the inside. Will check that next time for sure. Cheers!

I have the full line of cordless tools from maximum but i have the brushed verison of that impact. My brushed one like that has a worse detent and i hate it. Its going on 3 years now trouble free though. I have the 350 ft lb which is about 3 years old now and the 750 ft lb thats just over a year old and those are two great tools. Really have no complaints on them for the price especially. Ive been impressed repeatedly on the power of the 750 especially for the 280 dollar cost. Ive used it on those big ⅝ studs on grain carts that take 500 ft lbs and itll take them all off and torque them all up to atleast 500 ft lbs quicker than the ¾ 1100 ft lb napa gun at the shop. Great tools. I have their cordless grinder which i abuse daily also. It feels better in the hands than the snap on cordless grinder and has pretty well the same output for better than ¼ the cost. Its a 4.5 but gets treated like a 6 inch grinder lol. Its taken good spills and ive dropped couple hundred lb steel plate on it and its survived 2 years so far. The hammer drills and cordless ¼ brushless kit was a sweet buy too and theyre still going strong daily 2 years later. It was hit and miss with the saws though. The circ saw is fantastic, feels good, great power, and ut cuts reliability every time, although my recip after 2 years had the back half of the motor blow apart. Still works but it shakes as the fan and shit is all blown up. All in all im happy with their tools. Definitely can not do better for cheaper. The batteries perform great too even in the cold. Its interesting about your makita theory, ive been wondering for a while where they come from as the quality is so high. The maximum tool line has really stood out to me in the past few years considering how high quality the tools they produce are while remaining incredibly affordable

wish the regular mastercraft batteries fit the maximum tools. use the mastercraft line of batteries but want the maximum grinder. the brushed mastercraft one is underpowered

So true. It’s annoying when brands change batteries and force you to upgrade.

I have the bigger impact wrench with 1200 ft pounds. I got it on sale for $200 or $250. Mine has the 4 amp battery 🔋. I bought it so I could keep in my vehicle for when I travel. I keep my master corded at home, and I my air compressor one at home. I do even remember the brand. I think because your battery is loose. You can probably get a new one.

Milwaukee m18 batterys are worse with getting loose and breaking the batterys that's why i bought maximum impacts their batterys last way longer

There priced the same as dewalt brushless at Canadian tire. Would just buy dewalt and I’m a Milwaukee guy As said before harder to get extra batteries and replacement parts for these, dewalt would be a better buy

Do they have decent break away power ?
@TheThreeLeggedChair

i dont feel to dish out hundreds on a impact. already have those milwaukee 1/4, 3/4 and 1/2 m12 ratchet, I love canadian tire, you just wait until it falls in a good special and just buy it then. I think im gonna buy one, I can live with those shortcomings. I would only use it to get bolts and nuts off only. I always put them slowly back by m12 ratchet and hands. How are those motormaster tires btw?
@WadeofAllTrades
@WadeofAllTrades 3 года назад
Those tires have been pretty damn good considering the price. Not too loud but still decent on the ice and off-road. Lasted 4 years so I am happy with that. Get them on sale and it’s a good deal.

its Designed that way to protect the battery you get that one every cordless impact Metabo DeWalt Milwaukee its made that way for a reason on every detent ring is weak that is why your supposed to replace it every year on every impact and PS that is engineered in Germany and made by a German Company called Hazet and is actually one of the better bult lines of cord les tools all there cordless tools are made by Hazet a Premium Brand ..........I own Metabo Milwaukee and Snap on and they all have the same issues as the Maximum your pointing out so do your home work before doing a Review

Do the 3 speed/power setting only apply for forward direction or does it work for both forward and reverse direction?
@WadeofAllTrades
@WadeofAllTrades 3 года назад
The speed works both directions, although I always leave it on full. Makita has a super cool feature in their impacts that goes full blast until there is no torque and then stops. So it loosens at full power then stops before the nut goes flying.
@keearun
@keearun 3 года назад
@@WadeofAllTrades Yes, I was looking for a model with that precision torque control. So I guess these Maximum ones don't have that? I'm thinking of getting the DeWalt mid-torque impact which have that feature.
@WadeofAllTrades
@WadeofAllTrades 3 года назад
@@keearun you are correct. This one doesn’t have any smarts when it comes to loosing. That’s cool dewalt has that now. I think Milwaukee might have it too on the new impacts.
