LS1 is the best, it retains more fine details and never destroy text which is really important because LS upscale everything including the game HUDs However FSR optimized is so much faster.

My son has a gaming PC built by parts from mine, my wife's, and our friend's old gaming computers. It's decent, but it's definitely in fourth place. For most games, it's a beast. For Star Citizen, it's barely meeting the recommended stats.

If you run 3440x1440 you can't downsample to 1080 which means that the only way to get full screen is stretche. i played with settings and got some fps increases, but i'm not giving up my ultrawide aspect ratio for a few frames. will likely work for some.
@MrKarolinger

you can also use other resolution variants. But you need to change the resolution manually in your config.

If you have Nvidia try NIS and if you have AMD use RSR AMD's option is a little sharper and a bit easier to use in my opinion since its one button in the Alt-Z quick menu (maybe a game restart but it stays on through sessions) and it just works, I use the 6700xt. NIS was a little funky on my old 2060 with both sharpness and my screen flashing back but may work better for others. FPS performance is anywhere from 2-30% FPS increase depending on where I am, the lows come from CPU bound areas. RSR is FSR but built into the driver instead of the game like NIS. Hope the info Helps! NIS did stretch the screen for me sometimes (Required a game restart for me) but no issues with RSR in case you do use AMD

@honey-fe6pj Год назад
Use the devs LS1 scaling type- in Lossless Scaling- its the best looking. Lossless Scaling is why i really don't think its worth upgrading to a new GPU as i get about the same performance as the RTX 4080 and it looks great. Plus LS1 means there is no screen tearing so you can turn off VSync. Its great and so cheap for a very well supported app. Edit: But yes it does look like LS1 has dropped back slightly in imagine quality si i'll try FSR again. Thanks Karolinger!

Lossless Scaling and it's LS1 scaling type is AI based and much better than RSR or NIS. Star Citizen needs to look as pretty as it can.

"stop basing opinions on a video?" Karolinger does worthwhile investigation in whatever he does. That's his added value to me as a content creator. Why are you watching these videos if you're not gonna take something from it? At any rate. I tried NIS, it doesn't provide any benefit to me on my computer. FSR is crappy at best having used that before in nier automata and on my steam deck so I didn't bother with that. so yeah, don't make assumptions that I haven't tried anything.

I believe this is only helpful if the scene you render is gpu bottle necked at all CPU like 5800x3d or 7800x3d paired with a weaker GPU lets say 3070 (which for most games is a very strange mismatch) then this would help tremendously and also at very high resolutions like 4k it starts to make a the biggest difference.

Does this require the "frameless" setting or will it work in the "borderless" setting? Has this been tested on wide screens, ie: 49"? Will it stay active after a 30K or a wipe?

This does not work for me at all and I have Ryzen 3600 with 64 GB RAM, PCIx M.2 (superfast), AMD 6600XT on top. I am standing at the same spot at a station. On my native 1080p I am getting round 45-50 FPS, when moving around the waiting room 38 - 48 FPS same when zooming in. When going 720p using any of the 3 scaling methods my FPS either stay exactly the same or even drop below the native lol, not to mention that the game is ugly as hell on either of them. You are achieving 80 with slightly lower specs? How?
@MrKarolinger
@MrKarolinger Год назад
I can imagine that it is because of the amd card. Depending on the graphics card driver, there are noticeable differences, but this extreme is very unusual. I tested two different nvidia cards in the tests and am currently using an nvidia card. the performance with the tool is still very strong 🖖
@sixtheninth
@sixtheninth Год назад
@@MrKarolinger So despite 6600XT being more powerful card, I am out of luck because it is frikking AMD? :)) Well, the NVIDIA bias is massive in the SC community for sure, there are virtually no performance guides for AMD users at all, that much I have noticed too. But I cannot believe that it is impossible to achieve similar results on AMD cards. There must some tweaks, some hacks, some ways to achieve it. Do members of your community also exclusively use Nvidias? Could you possibly try to dig into some tests to finally bring us unlucky ones some joy? I could volunteer with my rig gladly.

Lossless scaling, what BS is this. The game isn't even GPU bound at all. If you had tested this at all, you would have known this. For example I went from a 3060 to a 3080 with there being NO performance benefit even at 1440p and going back to 1080p makes NO difference either. You have to understand that this game is still a debug build, meaing it literally wastes CPU cycles to make stack tracing and memory dumps possible to be processed by human beings. If you REALLY wanted to test GPU performance in Star Citizen you would have gone to Orison, the tree in front of the habs between the shuttle stations. You Could also go to the outflow pipe on Lorville or look out to the mountains from the New Babbage space terminal... not the sign on some space station where GPU utilization is at an all time low and then comparing native performance for 4k with 1080p upscaled to 4k. This is downright ridiculous.
