There are so many fake or useless programs that claim to boost your FPS in games, but Lossless Scaling can actually do it! But like other frame generation techniques, there are certainly cons along with the pros. In this video we test out LSFG x2 and the new x3 mode.

The Elden Ring is actually the best example possible, because the only way to unlock the framerate is disabling online mode and anti-chear, but with this software you can play at 120 or 180fps with online and no anti-cheat issues.
@band0lero

I really hope they drop a 120FPS patch after the DLC. If Armored Core 6 can run at 120 there shouldn't be any obstacle for Elden Ring to do the same. Especially since there is no cross play so it's not like I can invade a PS4 player who's playing at 30 while I'm at 120.
@LuismaLorca
@LuismaLorca 24 дня назад

When you get your new 240Hz/480Hz monitor, you should re-test the 3x mode in both the 240Hz and 480Hz modes. It would be really interesting to see if you can do it, how well it looks, how well it runs, etc. Using frame gen to go from very low fps to marginally higher fps, while it does have legitimate uses and is one of the main selling points of the app atm, feels like underselling the potential of frame gen as we push higher refresh rates.

I guess i will look like if someone took 120hz and put upon them a ton of motion blur. Basically like playing on 240hz cheap VA panel with high respons times and lots of ghosting. So it will come to the point- whether you like a ton of motion blur or not. Personally i see no reason to enable FG when u already can play at 120 without it. I would rather take better motion clarity when rotating the camera than over blurred picture

@ryanspencer6778
@ryanspencer6778 27 дней назад
It works better for this. It's cool that a single guy made something that can take me from around 30fps to 60, but the image quality is just not good enough for gaming, at least at lower base framerates. But on RU-vid videos I went from 60fps to 70-80fps on a 4k video. Not as many artifacts either, but there are some in fast motion. Edit: I watched an LTT stream replay and it went from 1080p 30 to 1080p 60, and it looks almost perfect since there's not much motion. Definitely worth the $7 if you want to watch talking head videos at 60fps. It isn't a threat to either AMD or Nvidia's frame generation, but for watching movies and TV shows at higher fps I'm sure it would be pretty good. Something that I really like about it is that I can set it to run on my integrated graphics so the overhead doesn't affect the performance of the dedicated GPU.

I've been trying out LSFG 2.0 in performance mode on Baldurs Gate 3 going from a locked 60 fps to 120 with it on and ive got to say it looks pretty damn good. Input latency seems fine too. What's weird is that, to my eyes at least, it doesn't seem to affect the UI in that game at all. The UI and menu elements seem to render at the native 60 while all other graphics are being upped to 120. It was a little jarring at first but I've gotten use to it. It also seems like a decent compromise considering this frame gen tech doesn't always seem to handle UI elements very well in other games. Also, I don't really notice much if anything in the way of visual artifacts when panning the camera. I'm sure if I really got in close & pixel peeped I might notice something; but for the most part it looks fine in motion when playing the game normally, even with performance mode enabled.

In my experience, running only the frame gen component on my RX 660M iGPU while using the main GPU to actually render the game (which is a thing that you can do) already makes the iGPU run at 100% utilisation when generating from 60 to 120 FPS. It would probably have an aneurysm if I tried running the game itself on the iGPU, too, and RX 660M is pretty damn good as far as iGPUs go (it's basically just 20% weaker than the Steam Deck GPU).

@austinjones7569
@austinjones7569 12 дней назад
Probably feels better than the actual fps but not as good as the fps it’s portraying. Nerdy sorta assumption here: The reason higher fps feels better (other than perceived smoothness) is because the frame being drawn has a tighter time window to generate, and so the input at that point the frame is drawn is closer to the actual input at any given instant (think crosshair). This would imitate that, so the generated frames would probably be closer to the input at the current moment. But, it’s an approximate so actual 120fps would still be closer- maybe not by much, depending on how close the approximation is, but still closer. And if there is an actual input delay based on fps, that wouldn’t be affected. But most of the time, the input delay is because of the input not being as up-to-date as higher fps.

Don't mistake LSFG as a performance mod that you can just turn on.. To me it's more like a graphical enhancement mod that make the game look better instead of making it run better, Although so far it is definitely better than DLSS and FSR in terms of availability and performance.

I use only X-Plane 12, with graphic settings which give me 60 fps (thanks to a good pc, and due to a 60Hz 4K tv, so having 60 fps cap in NVIDIA settings); so, lowered the fps down to 25 (raising the world objects density, the antialising and the rendering resolution - all of them at maximum), and you know what? Applying Lossless fps went up to 60, with new higher quality and smooth as hoped. Really a great product! The price? Satisfatcion and results are guaranteed, not even thinking of it, more than worth. Really cool application that captures your screen via DXGI and then replays that captured image with postprocessing. It's essentially TV postprocessing and frame interpolation. That said, it's not the solution for underpowered hardware, sadly. It requires significant GPU power to process and replay the captured screen in real time. It's very good for 60 FPS locked titles, but not as good as injecting frame gen via FSR and dlssg which forces frame gen via FSR. Tried it on 30FPS to 60FPS, but the GPU utilization is essentially the same as running at 60 FPS natively on low end hw.

GPU utilization is not accurate at all because it scales with GPU clock speed and that is changing a lot, especially inaccurate when the GPUs image processing capabilities are being used because it's hardly possible to combine rendering load and image processing load into one number. To test out how much performance it actually "eats" then run game uncapped then turn on the FG and check base game framerate. Then compare the base framerate with FG vs without FG and you will get how much performance it used for the FG. It should be around 20%

And base framerate of 10fps. Who cares about input lag when modern games all are walking simulatiors more or less?! 😅

This is interesting. I wonder if the HUD elements can be isolated by using a black /white masking image to isolate image areas that contain HUD elements and restrict manipulation of those elements.

This is great for single-player games but not so much for competitive shooters just in case anyones wondering. Adds too much input lag, but its pretty great for everythinf else

Funfact, this also works for videos you watch in your browser and any other media app (like vlc media player), means you can watch anime now with up to 3x the fps in real time!

This would be so awesome if it had a x 1,5 mode. I think most people would prefer a image with less artifacts that just increases the fps so people can get their fluid 60 or 90 fps.

If you actually try it, 3x barely produces any noticeable artifacts let alone 2x.

Thanks for your answers guys. Maybe I'll try it then anyways. I generaly am a immersive player and therefore move rather slow/walk in games. So 2x then actually might be a non issue in my case. 👍

@@anthonysmith6413 you won't regret it. It works like magic. I play msfs 2020 and normally have it locked to 30fps but now I get a constant 60fps without stutters or artifacting.

Tried the older LSFG 1.1 in games that doesn’t have native upscaling or FG like Mafia Definitive Edition, it worked surprisingly well. I’m sure this new LSFG 2.1 would work better

I always use this for rpcs3 and star citizen. upping from 30-40 to 60. I felt terrible latency at first. but when I buy 165hz monitor and still playing that 60fps lsfg for rpcs3 and SC. I don't felt the latency anymore. so if you have high refresh rate monitor but want to play struggling unoptimized games. It's a total reccomendation for me.

@@ricardowilliams3765 Yep, lossless by a mile, won't disable in motion, motion clarity is about the same, can be used on any app, and lsfg 2.0 fixed the problems the first lsfg 1.0 and 1.1 had.

@YanniYankovych
@YanniYankovych 27 дней назад
@@HunterTracks The “quirk” of AFMF is that it disables itself when the difference between each rendered frame becomes so great that it can’t “guess” the interpolated frame with any accuracy. Which is sensible in my opinion, but at the same time still pretty pointless (as is this) because it doesn’t have access to the game’s motion vectors. It’s pretty much useful only for watching sports.
