They are one of the best breeds of dog. I had an older friend who became sick. Before he died I ended up buying his home and property from him to alleviate his financial burden. After I purchased the property he remained living there until he died. I ended up inheriting his older female GP when I moved into the home. She was such a loving girl. Every time I came home she would come to greet me at my truck with sniffs and giant head hugs… rubbing her head on me like a big cat… lol. She passed shortly thereafter. I believe from a broken heart. She missed her dad horribly. She laid in the yard crying at night for a couple of months before passing. It was more heartbreaking than losing my friend.
They ARE. I'm unfamiliar with any breed aside huskies/ malamutes etc with such ridiculous, attention seeking vocalizations. I'm not trashing them. I think its hilarious! 😆
We have a 1 year old Great Pyrenees and he wants us to pet him constantly. He tries to trip us with his paws so we will stop and pet him. They're so funny 😁
3 months ago I spent a week away in British Columbia and I had lots of fun with two Great Pyrenees dogs. They crave attention. They want and need walks every day and lots of petting. They are sweethearts.
My dad's Pyrenese, Bilbo, has pitched similar fits. He'd start whining, I'd whine right back, and then we're both going "AROOROOROO" until my dad yelled "STOP THAT" from the other room. Love talkative dogs
This breed is very fascinating. They're absolutely incredible at protecting herds and their territory, to the point where they can successfully take on coyotes, wolves, and bears, but they're so chill and sweet. Excellent doggos
Dude a dog can not successfully take on a bear under any circumstance, and its strange that you casually thought that could occur lol but other than that i must agree
Been raising these beauties for 33 years and they have such unique and individual personalities. They are loyal but stubborn . I train them as guardian dogs for flocks and herds so they need to be able to make quick decisions without someone giving commands. Looks like you got a talker lol
and it makes sense for guardian dogs to be sensitive but stubborn! form strong bonds and to also be a bit possessive lol. sharing love from their flock might go a bit against their nature when the herding instinct is to be devoted to each and every member yet also be the only canine everyone listens to and depends on. those big feelings are all from the heart ❤️
Our immortal beloved PM, Mina, passed away a little over a year ago, and she was by far the most nurturing, intuitive, gentle, intelligent, loving dog that we have ever had. Our home still feels as if we have a large void! This video is so incredibly endearing, thank you for posting!!!
He certainly makes his feelings known. I sometimes pretend to be holding the kids guinea pig and do the talk, petting etc and my dog gets all jealous at me literally holding nothing
Great Pyrs are awesome! This is my second one and he is a wonderful. I have a disability and he makes sure I don't fall. He makes a great Service Dog. They are so loving and protective. ❤️
Our older female dog does this too. Just 3 nights ago when we let our 4 month old male dog on the bed (she doesn't like it when we do that) she went into the living room and had the biggest fit. She barked as loud as she could for 30 minutes. She barked so loud, so strongly and for so long she tuckered herself out and was sound asleep an hour later. Slept all night, she did.
@@Yes_Anastasia Not at all. First, we leashed her in the backyard and made her watch as we gave away all her toys to the squirrels. Then we took her food bowl and filled it with chicken (her fave) and summoned all the raccoons from our neighborhood and she had to watch as they ate every bite. Of course we gave her love and hugs and treats because we love our little Zooey. She's spoiled rotten and we wouldn't change a thing.
@Repent and believe in Jesus Christ make sure to burn animals because God likes the smell of burnt flesh, it smells like a 'sweet savour' unto him. God gives detailed instructions for performing ritualistic animal sacrifices. Such bloody rituals must be important to God, judging from the number of times that he repeats their instructions. Indeed the entire first nine chapters of Leviticus can be summarized as follows: Get an animal, kill it, sprinkle the blood around, cut the dead animal into pieces, and burn it for a "sweet savor unto the Lord." Chapters 1 - 9. God gives us more instructions on killing and burning animals. I guess the first nine chapters of Leviticus wasn't enough. He says we must do this because he really likes the smell -- it is "a sweet savour unto the Lord." 23:12-14, 18 Clams, oysters, crabs, lobsters, and shrimp are abominations to God. Leviticus 11:10-12. Which is rather strange as he created them himself.
He wants us to think he is abused but we all know the truth. Ours does the same thing but doesn’t whine as much. She has the sad eyes that cuts into my soul.
I used to have a big boy that was half GP half Labrador. He was the sweetest, stinkiest, drooliest buddy ever. I miss you Stevie. You were the best boy.
Just found this. Played it 3 times for my cat and she settled right in, belly showing. The 1st year of her of her life, all of her friends were dogs. I wonder if a GP was a friend to her. Yesterday we went to the vet and a GP was there and she totally chilled. He was very loud and she was nervous when we arrived. Soon as she saw/heard him, it was a chill pill. She wasn't scared. He calmed her down. I can just play this video and she relaxes. Unbelievable! Thank you!!! Maybe she misses her friends.
My uncle had four GP's on his sheep ranch to guard his flock. Best guard dogs yet the sweetest pets. They're all gone now but it was a pleasure having known them.
Folks used to roll when I would drive by with Goliath. As a puppy he was always on my lap when I would go out, generally sleeping. Then he grew up and though he was a lap dog. Hell of a dog, got him at 6 weeks old, carried him into the vet at 12 years because of a seizure the evening before. When they heard his age they got real quiet, he lived almost two lives for the breed. Over 25 years, I've had 3... 2 male and 1 female, all were awesome, from the City to the Farm.
Awww sweet baby… this brought tears to my eyes… we used to have a sweet bichon who was very vocal and he sounded exactly this at times. He would also clown around with other vocal sounds to make us laugh and laugh. Miss you every day Buddy. ❤
1:06 This is just how young siblings act. One doesn't get their way, and the other one that gets the toy (or the good spot on the couch) rubs it in by showing off just how wonderful it is.
Oh yeah. They give themselves away with the “octave change”…. When you asked, “are you jealous?” He went way louder and “off-key”! Lol. Pretty cute, they are! ❤
That is SOOO much like our Maddie. She doesn’t have another dog to compete with so,when she wants attention, which is constantly, she just climbs up on my lap. Our 92lb lap dog. (ugn) 😂
I took my dog (2-yo female Bostie) with me to work one day. She was so happy with all of the other people at my office (major dog lovers, who lavished love on her). When I brought her into my private office and closed the door, she pouted just like this. 😂😂
We have 2 pyrs as well. The struggle is real. Often one of us has to pet one, and the other pet the other dog. The "Pyr paw" of 'keep petting" is not to be ignored. Love them to death.
Can confirm. My Pyrenees is a girl and she’s absolutely as whiny as this. But only at certain times. She’s talking. It’s a communication of dissatisfaction. Best breed I’ve ever had. They’re so smart it’s nuts.
I happen to be fluent in GPTTT (Great Pyrenees Temper Tantrum Talk) and I totally agree with him when he says “you have two hands to pet with so scoot over cuz I’m coming over for my fair share of your hands”.
OMG. This might be the most adorable and hilarious thing I've ever seen. Thank you so much for posting! I really needed a little bit of happy today. Love the title, by the way!
We have three dogs and three food bowls. If any one of those bowls is empty, even if the other two have food in them, my Pyr will be in nose bumping my arm, flopping his paw on my lap and otherwise throwing a fit until I get up and remedy the situation. It's so dramatic.
OMG, he looks like our Bailey . And boy, she can give the looks if the other Great Pyrenees are on her daddy. I love this breed. They make great family pets!!!
I worked as a delivery driver assistant over the holidays once and one home owner lived on a farm property. When we would deliver, we'd need to open a gate to drive the truck in and out. We needed to make sure to get the gate all the way closed because he had animals. I remember him talking about the gate, specifically referring to his Great Pyrenees. At the time I had no idea what kind of animal that even was. Since then, I met one while on a walk. Gorgeous dog. I asked if I could have permission to pet it. They said yes and smiled. I petted its head for a little bit, and then I squatted down and started talking to it. It sniffed and snuffled and sniffed and snuffled my face. Such an enormous sweetheart. A gentle giant. I've never owned a dog before, but I think it would be really cool to have one of these. Dogs have really grown on me over the years.
You will never have a better best friend than a doggy! the bigger they are the gentler they seem to be... they will greet you every single time you meet again like you are the only person on earth and will love you even when the rest of the world doesn't. I lost my staffordshire bull Stephen in November and my heart is broken but it was worth it to spend time with him. You sound like a nice person and they like good hearts. I hope you get to experience having one some day!
My pupper does the same thing and I cant help but chuckle the whole time, and that just makes her gripe even more, probably because she knows it makes me laugh lol
It's a Pyr thing. They almost all howl when they really want something or just do it at some time during the day to make people know they're there It was bred into them to let the predators know that they're on the job protecting the flock.
What a beautiful breed of dog!! Absolutely gorgeous I've always gone for bulldog breeds but the beauty and personality of these dogs is making me think twice x
Oh, he's jealous!! I knew he just wanted to be with you, but I didn't realize there was a LOT more to it!! What a wonderful dog. He just wants a little loving.... all day, all the time.😊
The fanned out tail was absolutely stunning (0:31). He is well cared for. His whimpering - which grew louder for a moment - was the perfect response to the question "Are you jealous" as he briefly paused to lick his wounds (0:39). I am now convinced the paw licking is self-soothing. Meanwhile the brief shot of Wolf living her best life laying on her back - #unbothered - almost had me laid out too. 😂 Great Pyrenees are indeed *GREAT!* 💝
It's been one week since I put my bear down. Love them love them love them. Videos pictures. As much as possible. I never knew the pain this was going to inflict on me. Beautiful doggies btw.
I adopted a dog who also did something similar, but he was actually trying to tell me he was in pain. I thought he was trying to tell me he wanted more food. But he was telling me that his teeth were hurting. After having 6 teeth extracted, the moaning/crying/whining or whatever you want to call it stopped. I feel guilty for making fun of him while he did it because it was adorably cute if you think he's just begging for more treats, until you realize it was actually desperate cry for help -- one that his previous owner had been ignoring for years.
