One thing maxpax seems to do better than most is leveraging the protoss shields. Other players are happy to run their units to red before saving them, but maxpax pulls them the instan their blue bar shatters. The second game really shows it off, the entire army was sharing shields and using their regen between waves and that is incredibly hard to break.
Maxpax micro reminds me of like colonial warfare. Like the musketeers shooting, then pulling behind the next line so they can reload for the next shot.
at 13:00 matpax was warping in stalkers and picking them up with the warp prism at the same time.... idk if ive ever seen it do both functions at the same time usually just close together

No idea why his opponent never makes a marauder, its not like he had no tech lab, he was literally researching stim pack and it never occurs to him that concussive shell+ marauder would be better Should send it to harstem for Is It Imba or do I suck lol
what makes pros look bad vs other pros is they have natural talent and skill vs just skill or talent. you see this in chess. you can become a grandmaster with lots of study, review and practice. but match vs one with an eidetic memory. it's 10x harder. maxpax seems to have a lot of raw talent.
I think you're onto something with those warp prism Medivacs Lowko. I can see it now in a future balance patch; Medivac: Added New Ability Orbital Drop Beacon. Toggle-able ability, sieges the medivac and all barracks units drop pod around the beacon medivac when they spawn. If the beacon medivac is removed before the pods land the pods crash, exploding on impact with no survivors, no resource refund. Only one medivac can be in beacon mode at a time.
I think MaxPax wins off of keeping the Terran in their own base for the first few minutes, not getting harassed, and then just plays super-aggressively and maintaining a really good economy. He sacrifices a zealot here and there just to buy half a minute more of not having a Hellion or Reaper in his mineral line, until he can get a critical mass of Stalkerz that can just outmaneuver the terran. I suspect Mauraders would do better against this than tanks tho
MaxPax and HerO with this insane stalker micro are the reasons why the stalker can't get a buff. Once MaxPax plays offline tournaments and wins a big one with stalkers they'll get a nerf at that point but until that happens the pleb protosses are safe..
Protoss isn't weak. It could use some buffs, but it's not weak. The main reason it doesn't do well in tournaments is because toss players suck in recent years. When Serral rose to power, the only one that was a legitimate challenge to him was Stats. When Serral came to Korea for GSL vs the World in 2018 and 2019 (many people forget about this feat of Serral) Stats was supposed to stop Serral, not Maru. After Stats left for military, no one could step up. EU peak toss was Showtime. NA was Neeb. Korea was Zest, King of Throws. Maxpax is currently Rank 2 btw. He's young and technically not that experienced because he doesn't play offline. Maxpax has a long way to reach his ceiling, and he's already Ranked 2. Serral is going away to Finnish military service. Maxpax will become Rank 1 in aligulac. If Maxpax shows up in offline tournaments and adjusts to them (Clem for example took some time to adjust) he'll top events and be the undisputed successor of Serral. The perceived balance of races has a lot to do with the players. Check out the comments of Stats vs Serral 2018 finals video. No one was talking about imbalance even though Zerg was OP back then.
i think the problem with toss its you can do to much with low skills, for example i only was able to reach plat with zerg, but i had to play at least 150 apm, where toss players achieve the same with only 50 apm, they really live in a bubble thinking their race is weak bc they dont win enough tournaments and blame zerg for being op when the true op is Serral. Maxpax may be the player that will show how powerfull toss can be and i hope for him being the reason more and more toss players start to get the juice out of the race.

The ultimate example of basic units looking OP was Life's zerglings. Good grief. Wish that kid would've played legitimately so we could see what he could've become.
1st game: Greed gamble gold base. (doesnt require skill), no reaper scout (bad play from terran), 5:10 first tank out (extremely trash timings considering at diamond people already have 2/3 tanks out at this time IN position) Granted he tried to go cyclones cuz he didnt scout and prepped for air, but this is just a stupid gamble especially in a finals? Talking about maxpax not losing any stalkers... ofc he isnt losin any stalkers if the opponent doesnt have actually units out besides workers. (cuz he decided to go for aggro early game leaving his base without any defenses) 2nd game: Does scout with reaper, makes cyclones and tries a push that does nothing cuz it has no actuall meat to it. (allinning gives approx 2 times asmuch as that army composition with this timing) Again 5:00 not even having a single tank out or sieged. Unsieges at the worst time possible, wich basically auto kills the tank, while the second tank isnt even in position. Loses half his army because of these obvious mistakes. Then dies because maxpax micros vs much smaller army. 3d game: finally gets a reaper out, finally gets tanks intime, but does the dumbest thing you possibly can, loading up a medivac with units you need in your mainbase on that map to counteract the blinking in. (WICH HE SCOUTED!!!) Gets heavy supply blocked, doesnt even use supply drop vs a blink timing attack. destroying his own timings, and again doesnt make the tanks he needs. Eventually magically stabilizes after infinite mistakes. leaves his main base ramp wide open again by unsieging his tanks and having no units there, not even spotters. And loses the game. Like wtf. Spirit literally played this out like a diamond. I mean i understand the stress of playing at the highest level, reaching the finals, gives mad anxiety and is infinitely harder to do then to ladder. So i can understand why he plays bad. But this isnt a game you can cast and say maxpax is good when his opponent played like a diamond.
Honestly that’s why I think maxpax played like this. If this was against Clem game three, I’m sure maxpax wouldn’t have doubled down on stalkers for a third time in a row. Just felt like he knew spirit would get rolled by the same shit again.
The important thing is that Toss is trash, the weakest race, no matter what changes the protoss make, they always end up screwed. The corrupt people who make the patches are blind, poor Toss, they are screwed.
Try a gas block and pylon block at terrans natural. It slows them down. It's like blocking zergs natural expo. If you pylon block terrans natural, sometimes they build a marine to kill it and you don't have to worry about reapers. It messes their timing up significantly
