Great vid. Word of advice though, although the Maxpeeding Rods are balanced better than the individual OEM rods, the whole OEM rotationg assembly is balanced around the stock rods in their respective positions. The key to maintaining balance in a built engine is to match the weight ratios of the stock rod and piston combos across each cylinder bore when installing new forged rods and pistons

How different is it to swap a vr6 into a 1.8t a4 b5 ??

Im pretty sure all vr6s have forged rods and cranks. The pistons are cast.

Definitely not all, these rods are 100% cast and so is the crank

mk3 12vs of certain years had forged cranks but were not balanced well from the factory which is kind if a bummer considering Volkswagen usually cheeped out on electronics and extras for rnd and machine work

Great video! Can't wait to see the build progress. I used MS Rods for my 2.7T build and noticed there were improvements to be had in balancing the big ends. The MS rods were a ways off from the OEM rods in this respect. How big of an impact it will have is subjective though. I saw in another comment below you're getting the crank balanced, good decision! @@Kiss__Kiss to me it doesn’t. I was never a fan of changing the motor that comes in a car. Maybe when I build a drift car I’ll use a vr6 since it’s similar to a 2jz.

@@vertbully5353 I'm right there with you, man. I meant for his application. But yeah, back when I was younger, in the 90s I had a Mark IV Supra with the 2JZGTE engine. Guess I should have kept it. Live and learn I guess.

@@Kiss__Kiss would have been sitting on a gold mine for sure lol. Idk I just love the 2.7 look. It’s always easier to swap a reliable motor I guess. Too many people doing vr6 swaps in the b5s now. Ima vr6 swap but I’m going outside the box and changing model of car for that.

You should really end to end balance them. On a rod balance scale. That's where the biggest difference comes in. Mine were end to end were way off. And they had to grinded to match end to end. Edit: the coupon code doesn't work. Says invalid
