As part of any off-grid system, you need a generator for those times the sun is just not shining. just hit 185 hours of run time and thought it would bee a good opportunity to review this generator the MaxWatt MX 9000AS which is currently part of my off grid system.

Nice review. I just bought one today for grid failure backup. They’ve replaced one outlet with a 32A industrial socket, so I’ll just put a changeover switch and socket on my house board, should be fantastic I reckon.

Thank you, Yeah I saw a newer 9000AS at total tools the other day and noticed it had the 32A socket which is awesome and would have made my life a little easier with the inverter setup with the new socket, it does make even more sense for off grid setups with that small change

Hi Scott I have this generator on order is there a way of getting the full 7.2 kw tout of one inverter? I'm thinking just running 2 lengths of power cable and hopefully they both squeeze in to the inverter inputs But not sure how the 2 ac outlets will share load. Is there not a 30 amp hard wiring outlet on the generator to use?

Nah unfortunately there is not a single 30 amp outlet to use, According to the wiring diagram the 2 sockets are fed from a single phase, there should be no worries about wiring these into the same circuit in theory, I must admit when I tried it, it was dark I was running out of time and didnt bother troubleshooting, Thats when I thought just go 1 outlet to 1 inverter and split the power that way. I think the main issue with joining them was when the power is drawn there was no smart way it was drawing it over the 2 lines so 1 of the outlets 15amp breakers would go. I am sure there are smarter people then myself out there that could figure this one out, another option is to get a electrician to re-wire to a single 30amp outlet, had a similar thing done on my old honda.

Hey, its going had an issue with the exhaust as shown in this update ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XD5yshdIMI0.html With it being winter now it is getting a workout up to about 400 hours now. had about 4Kw of solar today being heavy cloud and rain so it was running for a good 8 hours today charging the batteries and running the shouse. currently its running without a muffler so its very loud. But this was my fault as it does say in the manual when servicing to check the bolts etc, still annoyed tho. I have been thinking of getting the new MX8000iS as a replacement and have this one as backup. they do now have a 13.5KVA model too which looks interesting
