Maxwell pretends that 'Bubby Sophie' has visited him in a spooky dream!
From Season 4 Episode 4 'The Rosie Show'. Fran gets picked from the audience for the 'Rosie Show' and becomes a show regular! As Fran's popularity grows, Maxwell starts to worry about losing her to the show. He pretends that Yetta's 'Bubby Sophie' has visited his dreams and warns that Fran cannot leave the Sheffields.

This is literally my favorite scene in the entire show. Every time I was Fiddler on the Roof I always think, “What’s this I hear about your nanny on a talk show?” when Fruma Sarah shows up.

I was surprised the audience didn't seem to laugh that hard at the ottoman joke, they didn't seem to really get it until she looked in the mirror. And maybe even then it was fleshed out with canned laughter. Maybe most of them didn't know the DVD show?. . .

No it literally was because they could not afford to pay for Barbaras personal appearance fee for just one episode worth. Not in the budget. Fran Drescher said that was the reason. She did end up later meeting her. Barbaras sister and composer were both on the show though.
