Fortunate was given to the perfect person Maxwell SANG this song with so much soul, passion and fire. This song is one of his most standout songs and one of the greatest R&B songs ever.
@Godzone I also couldn't believe man that R.Kelly produced such romance💋🌹😩😭 but then again I was happy that it was him who produced this song and this all shows how talented R.Kelly is.😩😭
The words are so relevant even read backwards from worlds vision. Im scared for my own salvation to declare 'ido,l' worship. Not enough knowledge. Yet ONE have I been blessed to know where I may have given even that up-my Soul. Hold. Keep. Cherish. A loss to great I would not wish on enemy.
And people want to shame R. Kelly's music bcuz of his personal life but his music should still be celebrated. If we're gonna shame his music, we may as well shame it all bcuz none of these singers are angels but nothing's wrong with celebrating their gift
Don't get me wrong this song is nothing short of amazing, but is anybody going to praise the direction of this video?! The lighting, camerawork, cinematography is phenomenal.
I'm trying to comb the comments for the meaning of this video... It's so weird but I love it. My interpretation is that room is his world filled with all the beautiful things she makes him feel. 🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️
You Rico...are an ALLSTAR....check the dictionary for the definition. However, you are sooooooooo absolutely correct in how beautifully done...and hasn't been seen since....this video is played out...god speed sir for stepping up to what most mis when look into the past with 20/20 goggles. Good grief... this vid has amazing direction and cinematography... hats off to you for noticing...and allowing me the chance to wear your sight to remember why this added sight makes all the diff for me...and let's not forget the sound...always on top... HUGS TO YOU RICO...U SO ROCK...WHEREVER YOU ARE!!!
I agree, the song is incredible but the cinematography is beyond words, the lighting the effects, the jellyfish and butterfly's As for the meaning in the video... All I know is that she died in that room and he's singing, I can't put it together
The whole song is everything, but the breakdown at the very end of the album version shows the genius of R. Kelly's arrangements. He gets on my nerves. All that talent and he's so screwed up. This is the one song I can't give up. Maxwell slayed this shit.
Happy 46th birthday to Maxwell, who along with D'Angelo, Angie Stone, Erykah Badu, helped to shape the Neo Soul movement that became prevalent in the mid 90's, such a great track
Jodeci? I bought my first two CDs in 1990, Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer. But by 14 in 1994, everything changed when i got the Diary of a Mad Band album. Never been the same. 🥰🤟🤘
Maxwell did his thang on this song vocals was on point!! 🔥🔥🔥R.Kelly pen game is strong! I will always appreciate you for your talent! Can't take that away it's God given! 🙏🏼
This song was released in 1999… it's more than 17 years old dikweed, the video was just Uploaded to RU-vid 17 years ago. A simple Google search could of prevented you from making this stupid ignorant comment🙄
You can see he's literally drunken by the music by the way he's moving. I swear no one feels their own music like he does. Also the sexiness and sensuality is UNDERRATED in this video 😩
The Fact that R Kelly wrote and produced this song just shows how talented and how much of an affect he had on music despite how he was as a person lol he was a hell of a musician and performer
I really miss this era of music. Everything from the song, to the video, the representation of black love, is just so beautiful. This is so timeless ❤️❤️❤️
#memeluvsutru Me and my husban we're dating at the time this song came out. He would play the CD in his car every time we went out for a date. He loved this song. After a child and five years into the relationship we got married at a simple ceremony at the courthouse and we were married for 17 years. He would always play this song at home and we would slow dance around our living room. We were married for 17 years. we always counted the first day we met 22 years together. We always counted the full years we were together because he always said to me , the first day I met you I knew you were going to be my wife . We were together for 22 years, married for 17 of them . He passed away a year ago, and I truly miss him. I can never listen to this song without crying now. Because every time I hear it I think of him.😢❤ rest in peace Benjamin Rivera!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
2024 Can't believe it's been 25 Years Since this Classic Song and Video. Maxwell is an Underrated Singer/Vocalist and he Deserves his Flowers 🌹🌹. Also, it's 25 Years for the Movie 🎥 "Life" Soundtrack and I Hate to Say It but R.Kelly Wrote This Classic Hit. 25 Years Later Still Dope 🔥🔥
But and da timee has changed 2 were Good is Bad & being Bad is Good... So all da mature man that has fallen for da okie doke; can only dream about it... Da End
No matter what messed up stuff R. Kelly maybe doing within his personal life you can't take away his talent as an artist he's simply a musical genius He can take anything and create the hottest track with it.
"Fortunate" is a neo soul song from the 1999 motion picture Life and was released on the film's soundtrack. The song was written, composed, produced and arranged by R. Kelly and recorded by Maxwell. "Fortunate" was awarded Best R&B Single of the Year at the Billboard Music Awards and Best R&B/Soul Single (Male) at Soul Train Awards. Maxwell was nominated for a Grammy for Best R&B Male Vocalist and also nominated for a Blockbuster Entertainment Award for Favorite Song of the Year. The song, Maxwell's biggest hit to date, spent eight weeks at number one on the US R&B chart and peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100. It is his first number-one R&B hit, eventually followed by "Pretty Wings" in 2009. According to R. Kelly, Maxwell didn't want to sing "Fortunate". Instead, he wanted to sing the song "Life" - which Kelly gave to K-Ci & JoJo. Kelly rejected Maxwell's idea because he felt that neo-soul singer wouldn't have been believable singing a song from the perspective of a prison inmate.[1] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fortunate
Thanks for that nugget of knowledge bro. Glad Kelly made the right decision and gave Life to K-Ci & JoJo. Kelly is a musical genius. I remember seeing him on a BET special in 1993 where they followed him and Aliyah around in Chicago. He sang a gingle for McDonald's in the subway using a keyboard, total freestyling. It was/is better than any McDonald's gingle I've heard on TV/Radio.
Thanks for that tidbit of information that I previously had not known but now know because of you. Thank you and give yourself a pat on the back. Peace
@@CharlieXFBA....I have no disrespect to Kelly ....Maxwell is unrecognized as much as Kelly ....I don't get why him n Kelly didn't make music together....it would be today of him and the weeknd made a single together
I believe Prince Roger Nelson would listen to this and say bravo brother Maxwell and you did that my brother you did that..... Much xoxo even if it sounds like my music let's stop hating on each other and show the love
Hi Something I have been in search for quite sometime is a connection with somebody that goes beyond vanity. It's very hard to do in this day and age. People can be, somewhat very superficial. On my quest to achieve this I have learnt a lot about human nature. It seems to me that those who are not given traits such as beauty or being wealthy are some of the nicest, kindest and generous people. While the "gorgeous" and well off seem to be the most arrogant and greedy people out there. Of course that's not to say there aren't beautiful kind people out there. I've been in the process of change for a while now and I have made some decent changes. I saw your profile and it intrigued me. I wanted to learn more about who you are and what type of path you would like on in life. Can we talk?
