100% with you on this John. Pearl showcases Mia Goths incredible acting skills, but X & MaXXXine are so much fun as a 2some! Pearl is a standalone for me. The mood & music in this was so up my street!
Yeah X and Maxxxine are definitely a duo and Pearl is the "add on" 😁😁👍👍 I did get the chance to see Maxxxine once more and it has went up in my estimation (as I didn't think about Pearl once!) I am hoping a boutique label like Second Sight will give all three moviee the special collectors editions that they deserve. I absolutely love X and Pearl, and I really can't wait to watch Maxxxine.

Great review John, we're going to see Maxxxine this Wednesday, looks like its last viewing in my local cinema which i think is shocking...these films aren't getting long enough cinema releases....huge fan of the first 2,will probably do a little review myself 😊

Haven't seen Maxxxine yet looking forward to it for the decade and time it's set same with the previous films! However...... It's more a after thought than a must watch as soon as possible. Great Vid mate

Pearl and X are modern classic IMO! Ti West is a genius! I went to see MaxXxine for the 2nd time last night and enjoyed it wayyyy more than the first time around. Mia Goth is just a fantastic actress!! She dominates every scene she's in. I would warn everybody that this is NOTHING like X or Pearl. It's a pretty stand-alone film and you can go see it without seeing the other 2. It's a murder mystery/thriller, not a horror movie. Some great gore effects. And yep, my balls still hurt haha. Hi John. It’s a 4 star trilogy from me. X is a 70s throwback horror with obvious TCM vibes. Pearl is a character study infused via 20s/30s/40s cinema. MaXXXine is more of an 80s Thriller akin to Angel, Vice Squad, Savage Streets etc.. the 80s needle drops were all great and it starting with a Bette Davis quote and ending with “Bette Davis Eyes” chef’s kiss for me. Maxine in the film says she is turning 33 in 1985 and aging out of porn thus she wants to cross over to legitimate films etc. she would have been about 6 in the church film and 27 during the movie events of X in 1979. Like most films MaXXxine had its flaws more positive than negative to me.

@@MondoChelloveckMovies I’d say it was showing for about 2 weeks, maybe 3 sessions a day. It’s gone now. Some movies are gone so quick it’s mental. Even sadder we only got a DVD release of X, but both DVD and Bluray for Pearl. I’m thinking MaXXXine will be out on Bluray before October.
@filmwolf4078 not that much of a run Wolf!! Its the biggest grossing of the 3 films....you think it would have had a bigger run, Longlegs is still playing over here! Been on a good month now Wolf! Yeah we need good releases of these films and I've heard Maxxxine might be out 31st December 🤯🤯 hoping that date will change drastically mate 🤞🤞😊😊👍👍

@cheekster777 I've had a second watch of Maxxxine and it was much better for me on that second watch! I might put it slightly ahead of X.... but X has the better 3rd act Cheekster 🤔😁👍

I enjoy all 3 films immensely and would highly recommend them all but ranking is easy for me, Pearl, X then Maxxxine. With Pearl being light years ahead of the other 2, it's so bloody good!! I was disappointed with the killer in Maxxxine and the last 25 minutes let the film down. I also only saw it once at the cinema, there were about 5 people in the screening on 2nd night of showing which I guess is why it had such a limited run. Cinemas need to make money and if they can show Inside Out or Despicable Me instead, which half fills the cinema why wouldn't they? I will still 100% snap it up when it comes out on blu. Hoping for a boxset as the curent UK releases of X and Pearl are barebones awful. Completely agree that Pearl is standalone though, realistically, it adds nothing to X or Maxxxine. Huge interest in both Ti Wests and Mia Goths career moving forward.
I agree with you with the last part of Maxxxine Nibolian and definitely think Pearl is a step above the other 2 🤔🤩👍 yeah when we have been using our Limitless passes in the past couple of months I've noticed that we can be among hardly any people in the showings, think Maxxxine had around 20 people in, which probably is the most! Although we went to see Inside Out 2 the other day and and that was really full and the people going to see Despicable Me 4 in the other screen was massive! But that's not the norm sadly 😔 Pearl can be seen as it's own film as it literally plays no part in Maxxxine especially 🤩👍 yeah I'm REALLY interested to see what they both do, either individually or together in the future!! 🤔🤩👍 cheers for watching mate 😁😁👍👍
Hello mate, hope you're well. I watched Maxxxine online at the weekend, was really enjoying it until Kevin Bacon left the film but I thought the reveal of the killer was really disappointing and the last 15 minutes really let it down. I would still give it a 7 out of 10, great recreation of the 80's and star turns from Goth and Bacon. I do think it's marketing might hurt it as it looks like a slasher but there's only one on screen giallo type murder in the whole thing. It's more like a thriller with a few nasty bits! 😋
