Love to see truckers helping each other that's the way it needs to be.. Great job and great video John.. May our heavenly father bless you and keep you safe on your trips..
Sometimes having plenty of space is just as bad as not having enough. I hate to see anyone having a bad day, and, like you, I try to help as much as possible. I've given away zip ties, tarp straps, load locks, whatever. Most drivers appreciate help and usually ask how much they owe me. My reply is always...You don't owe me a penny, just pay it forward whenever you can. You're a good man John and if I ever run across you out there I'll buy you lunch.
Johnny, what you did in helping the two other drivers was beyond words, if they gave out an award for humanitarian Truck Driver of the month, you would win it. God Bless You. Safe Travels.
I'm a Prime lease driver. There's no way in hell I'd have tried that set-up! We have good drivers, and then we have....err... not so much. He has got to be a brand new driver. Anyways. Bad day for Prime.
Decided to scrap the idea of driving for a living and (as much as I hate it) sticking with my old profession. Money isn't in it and I just couldn't get the Bent, Cracked or broken, not missing any screws, not bulging, cut, cracked, dry rotted, burnt, damaged, spheal down for every freekin piece and part of the truck. The DMV road tester is a psychotic bitch to top it off. If you miss the valve stem on a tire and you don't get credit for any of the tire.
No one is perfect while learning how to do anything it takes time and practice and a little help from co workers. You a good man John and enjoy watching. My son is also a truck driver for 5 yrs now o/o and tell him to help other drivers if he can and to ask for help if he needs it not to be ashamed. Everyone needs help now and then.
As a city driver and former OTR driver it gives me a headache watching some of these drivers trying to back in to a dock or even worse the truck stops!
That was painful to watch being an old trainee from prime. My trainer had me backing from day one (assisted of course) so when I was on my own it was a piece of cake. Kudos for helping both Prime and Hirschbach
I have spent the entire afternoon watching these amazing videos of mostly Swift drivers. I have no idea how they ever made it off the yard on their first day out. I have seen several videos where like in this one the would leave and come back and try again. Like if they go out the gate or around the block someone will wave a magic wand over the truck and it will back up by itself. I spent over 50 years on the road and I have never seen anything like this! I am glad that i have retired. I would not want to be out there amongst all of this. I am amazed! I kinda thought that I had seen it all.
I don't even have my CDL yet but when I worked for a steel manufacturer and machining company I drove the truck every day and loaded and unloaded as well as maneuvered with over sized loads and never had to pull up more than twice to get in position or to literally back inside the building where I had a whopping 6 inches of clearance on each side. I guess some just have it and some don't. We didn't by any means have a large area to work in either, it was just barely longer than the length of the truck plus maybe 30 feet.
it is always nice to see drivers helping each other out ,,the biggest problem is the rigs are over sized and the trailers to long ,,european trucks and trailers do not have none of these problems and they carry just as much ,,have a look at the stena line ferries crossing the baltic sea ,,,and you will see why big rigs do not work ,,in europe
Hello 👋 Sir You r a good driver with great hart with respect ✊ I am from India 🇮🇳 Punjab my father is in California He is a good truck driver like you i am always watching Your channel on my 55” 📺
Is it me or that facility doesn’t require opening doors before docking... Much blessings to you cameraman, helping when least expecting. Will come back nicer some how. We all been rookie one day #Petivoyager
Sir JBG !!! This is what happens when the drivers don't practice blindsiding into a dock !! Don't think that you are gona get a drivers side dock all the time !!! You got to learn how to Blindside !!! KEEP IT SAFE !!!
someone could make a living just guiding drivers backing up ..and its a safety thing and help the ones out when that bad day comes around everybody gets it once in a while
This was an absolute circus... You have these kinds of people responsible for a 130k tractor, 65k trailer, and how ever many of thousands of dollars of cargo, not to mention the safety of the motoring public...We need that Tesla model more than ever..
My Grandad, and Uncles were truck drivers. They would be amazed about the new technology in trucks. They would be disappointed about the plastic look alike trucks, no cabovers and the weak training driver's receive. I remember in the 1990s when Swift Transpotation and several employees of the Tennessee Department of Safety Driver's License Division was giving Swift driver's licenses like water. That's how Swift got the bad reputation.
You can train them you can show them but it's a lot different when they have to do. U have to b right there and tell them ok turn your wheels to the right or left or tell them they need to straight up. But all that comes in time. In for all those negative comments You got the realize you was there once
Although I’ve been driving for 14 months I still don’t help if I see someone having trouble backing, I still feel too new even though I know what I’m doing. But my problem with a lot of drivers is they never get out and look if I was helping a driver who seemed clueless I would defiantly make them get out and look it’s not my job to do your work. If it was a tight spot and a driver just needed a spotter that would be different but would still have them get out.
Remember how nervous you were? I do. You never want to hit anything. I bumped into a couple light poles over the years. Its not easy. I backed into a place today that had 3 bays. All off a busy street. It was real tight. Im 60 now. I dont care. I waited till both the other trucks left. Im LTL now. No room. I wait in the street. Who cares? They will care fast if you hit something. And guess what? Its your fault. A car in the way? Walk inside and be nice and tell them to move it. Do it all the time.
Doug Parker Painful but entertaining as well. I see em guys like that alot. I try to get em to watch other drivers do their set-up and learn from it. Of course they all say yes and as soon as they get back in their truck, they go brain dead again. This is just my opinion.... set-up is 99.99% of backing into the hole. My first few backing up tries were not good, but I finally figured out how to get my set-up and everthing else was just plain easy.
Hi John its been awhile since I watched your video I have to catch up on them I mow cemetery for the summer every other 2 weeks we mow them hope you and Babyblue doing good
I am the one who always says remember, we were all new at one time and to give them a break. I also always say that if they got it in without any damage they did a good job. I am a little curious how he got his class A when it appears that he has no concept of how do back. Just wondering if he might of been one of those who got gel in .CA by bribing DMV employees. It appears he might need a refresher.
Poor guy; did have a bad day...tore his front lower cowling off. Warehouse dock lots could be another 3 feet wider. What a miserable job; but somebody's got to do it!
Yes it’s nice that we help each other out! I feel bad for that Hirshbach driver, I hope he didn’t get fired for that. I work for them a great company but they can slap a preventable on that! But such cheap plastic.
Yes, I know. Don't have to say it. BTW, congrats on 54K subs! You may have been too busy and not seen my earlier question, but when you shut down at the house, do you show on sleeper berth to whole time or just go off duty?
Here's one for you how many truckers does it take to back the trailer in.... Johnny show them how its done. For anyone who knows they are really hard to back into and near impossible if it's a tight spot
Great video John. Entertaining but painful. That's why I've watched it 6x already. His set-up is terrible. Ya don't need to show em how to back up, but definitely show em how to set-up for backing up. Now, b4 people hate on my comment, just know this is only my opinion of backing. Set-up is 99.99% of putting your trailer in the hole.
Isn't Prime an owner operated company or lease operators? That being the case, it looks like a newbie trying to back in and how would that be, as they would all have experience...yes/no? It looks like a trainer was trying to coach him in :) Love the camera work! For a temp fix while the driver was backing in, use a strap and loop it around the bumper and the right spot mirror.
This Prime driver seems to need some more instruction on how to back up to a door in super tight spaces.. or at least some more practice. I don't think I could do it at all anyways, as I'm not a trucker. I have been in with a friend that can back up 1/2 mile with turns, tunnels, and places most truckers wouldn't go. He makes it look like child's play. I'm freaking out because of the turns into the tunnel, but he went through it like he was going forwards. God Bless, thank you for all the hard work to get this on here, and paying it forward. Yes, giving a fellow trucker some zip ties to help hold up his bumper without recompense (payment) is considered an act of kindness and paying it forward. Maybe he'll be able to help someone in the future. :)
