I feel like I just watched the Duck Dynasty of truck drivers. And although I'm not a truck driver, I used to commute every day on the Cross Bronx Pkwy and over the Throgs Neck Bridge to get to work. Loved it!
Thank you sir for these videos awesome traveling it seems like I'm in the truck sightseeing Love The View and like the way you describe where you're at , temperature day and time keep the videos coming just subscribed to your Channel ,be safe Godspeed
Hi JBG. I live in The Bronx and work out of NJ and whenever I have to deliver in CT or North I always use the Tappan Zee Bridge to I-287 and the catch I-95. 2 reasons why. 1. I save almost $50 and 2. Traffic is always better even in rush hour traffic. God bless and be safe.
Lovely trip Johnny! I have been through the same exact parts that you have went through in this video except that was back in 2008 when me and my family were headed Boston Massachusetts for a wedding. I remember getting stuck in traffic and reading all of the graffiti on the walls and bridges. That was about the only highlight of being stuck in traffic.
Now this is the best view you have ever given us, love to see the full inside view of the cab. straight out the front windshield is not bad, but this is even better....
when i travel i love the cb,, that way when i don't know where i need to go there is always a trucker out there that has been there before and can help me to the right path :)
My old stomping grounds. He's actually on the 80/95 express lanes, This is actually NJ Turnpike Authority maintained roadway. He's approaching the George Washington Bridge
Also, just an FYI, it is generally faster to use the local lanes, then as you get very close to the bridge, right before you get to to the lower level after I-95 curves to the left, where it says all trucks must exit, exit off the left side to get to the upper level.
Ricky Munday as a trucker thank you for yielding to us. But u got to watch out for those guys that have their turn signals on cuz they never turned them off. Then your being polite for no reason. It happens to me all the time so don't feel bad.
Wow, I went back in time to WELL.. This is the first video I saw of Miss Blue inside and rolling on a normal day. I came on your channel right after you started with ADL. I think the dash board on Baby Blue is nicer and more gauges, etc. I guess what you miss most of all in Baby Blue is the automatic transmission.. Miss Blue doesn't rattle as much as Baby Blue either, LoL, but I like Baby Blue.
my dad was a trucker so I respect what you guys do I try to yield to you in traffic ..its not easy doing your job especially idiot car drivers ..and you brought up a good point about the g.w.b.toll they probably pocket most of it...
There is no good time to deal with cross Bronx, but 5 pm forget it, an yea on the Jeep, looking to buy one soon. Before I retired, (yellow freight) I went thru this area after midnight
I have been to Manila a lot but always with a friend driving or in a taxi. Was in Angeles city in Jan. taxi and trike. I live in Leyte and just ride my Yamaha scooter. You are right about price, very high for some of those vehicles.
I drive a taxi, I hate having to go into NY. I don't know how you can get around the New York streets driving a truck with a sleeper cab. God Bless you.
I drive a sprinter van. I was once stuck on the GWB during afternoon Friday rush hour. It took me about an hour and a half just to drive three quarters of a mile. Boy did that suck. I try to avoid loads to NYC but you have to go through this route to get to Connecticut, etc..
I always treat trucks like my best friend was driving it and give them every break I can on the road. It would be a better safer world if everyone did that. Good luck to you and Blue.
BIG TRUCKS WITH AUTOMATICS ARE FOR WANNABE TRUCK DRIVERS WHO CAN'T DRIVE A STICK IN A BIG TRUCK !! IF YOU CAN'T DRIVE A STICK IN A BIG TRUCK, THEN YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO BUSINESS BEING BEHIND THE WHEEL !!! I LEARNED TO DRIVE BIG TRUCKS, AND STICK SHIFT TRANSMISSIONS ON A 1954 B MODEL MACK LUMBER TRUCK, THAT HAD A STRAIGHT 6 GAS ENGINE, AND A 5 SPEED MAIN/4 SPEED AUX TRANSMISSION, AND REVERSE WAS ON THE AUX TRANSMISSION... IF YOU MISSED A GEAR WHEN SHIFTING UP THROUGH, YOU BETTER STOP, AND START ALL OVER AGAIN, BECAUSE NO MATTER WHAT YOU TRIED, YOU WERE NOT GOING TO GET THE GEAR YOU MISSED THE FIRST TIME AROUND. AND LOTS OF DOUBLE, AND SOMETIMES TRIPLE CLUTCHING, AND YOU HAD ARM STRONG POWER STEERING TOO.
garthks After 40+ years of driving truck, I've got an automatic. My left knee is shot from kicking a clutch, and I'm in real pain when in a traffic jam. I ain't got nothing to prove to anybody, been there, done that, ain't my first rodeo, and I ain't no wannabe! Well except for retired.
10 speeds are the hardest to drive and I'll run it no clutch and I'm now in an auto traffic jams are great you can run up and down your super trucker gears I'll sit back and scratch my balls with my spare hand
Hey Jonhnny I was wondering why you did not post video of ny, behold facebook recommended me a video where you delivered in bronx ny, as you said, stone city. I was happy to see your video in ny, you were 40 min from my house in ct. ✌️
All the truckers are working hard to deliver your food and beverages to the store so you can get what you want. Imagine if all the trucks stopped and were not working, therefore no groceries, that is why I want to start out as a diesel mechanic and eventually own mechanic shops. I respect all truck drivers.
Looks like a lot of traffic ! I drive in Seoul, Korea in my personal vehicle, (Chevrolet Avalanche ) a lot more traffic and people than New York and that is bad enough. I couldn't imagine driving a big rig over here. :) But you and blue seem to do well no matter where you are.
Hi Trucker I really like your videos. I myself finished school for my CDL.A. Question for you, what camera do you use for all your filming? Whats the name of the brand & stuff. I want to purchase for myself as well when I start driving. Thank, you!
In 2006, bridge tolls totaled about $1 million per day; at the time, tolls for cars were $6 cash, $5 E-ZPass peak hours, and $4 E-ZPass off-peak hours.
hey i live in nyc and i own a truck i drive locally and i go across the George Washington bridge 2 times a day and let me tell you nobody knows where that money goes that bridge is owned by the port authority of ny and nj they also own all nyc airport and nj marine terminals and they don't report to any agency of the state or government they do whatever they what with that money..
youre very welcome ..I drove for a friend in texas ..he had a moving company..i drove peterbuilt through dallas Houston .st louis ect so I know what its like ,,they can have the cities...I didn't mind driving through Oklahoma city /my sister lives there..so id stop for a few hours
Not sure what time of day this was but that looks pretty tame. Anytime I go through the toll booths for the GW it's always at 7am. and it's absolute bedlam! I was going through the tolls, same lane you took, and accidentally nipped a pick up truck with my ICC bumper. Didn't even know I did it. I hate NYC and the cross bronx! haha
Drive it all the time from Rhode Island to,New Jersey. All monies from tolls in New York and New Jersey go to the maintenance of the highways in both states. It is almost impossible to shut down even one lane of this bridge at any time. You could sit for an hour or more without moving. God help there is never an accident. I think they do about 300,000 vehicles a day at $12.00 a car. They also only toll in one direction.
If the taxes and fees went to what it was supposed too the politicians wouldn't have the money to buy votes!!! politicians will be the downfall of our nation!!
J CaaM that does not surprise me. I hear that the tolls were only there to collect enough money to pay for the hwy then once they found out how much money the tolls were bringing in they decided to never shut them down. Go figure!!
$150 k a year to drive a truck in NY? Hell no, I want a million a year to live & drive a truck in NY. The tolls alone would be $100 k a year! Those bridges in NY are expensive as hell. I went from exit 4 on NJ turnpike to JFK airport in my taxi and back and it was $55, and that's with 4 wheels!
Wow You was out here 5 years back cool, Welcome 🙏 To Our carzy city amigo , The big apple 🍎 Just try to miss the pothole’s Poor Blue , Keep on trucking 🎄👍🍺
The holes in the GWB isn't anywhere near bad as where I live. So bad, that the Beatles immortalised the place, in a song lyric. The tune, penned in 1967, featured on the Sgt Peppers album, tells of the 4000 holes in Blackburn, Lancashire. Sort of makes you feel a sense of pride in them, and, best of all, most of them are still here too.
Here are some facts about our San Diego. Calif. our Coronado Bridge was put into service in 1969. All people are doing is going across the 2+ mile bridge that live or work on the island. The Tool was only going into the island. Many years ago the bridge was paid for and they stopped charging. Maybe some of the money for the Washington Bridge is going into somebodies pocket.
Hey the bronx i use to live out in the bronx now i live in california. But going back to your question how much money the GW bridge makes well i use to work for the Transit and yes on all bridges in the city brings in around 4 to 9 million each day.
The latest data from the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) says the average trucking cost per mile in the U.S. is $1.59. So if one of your trucks drove 100,000 miles last year (about the average for U.S. big rigs), you spent $159,000 to keep that single truck on the road.Mar 1, 2018
