Meanwhile, most medical doctors don't have a PhD, but have a more onerous educational load to acquire their DO or MD. Hence, after a teacher in my middle school got his PhD, he was referred to all as Doctor Smith, rather than Mr Smith. And my physician is also Doctor.

excatly, and the clinical trial has been done in China eailer in February which showed similar result (very slight higher death rate than normal treatment) as American ones, there is no reason for China to be in on the side of americans. In regard to the using this medicine for paitient in eaily stage of the virus the answer is simply NO. because the death rate for the general population is around 1%, yet there are very well known and high % of side effect of this drug, even if it somehow works for treating people at eaily stages it only means maybe reducing death rate from 1% to 0.8%? but it means huge number of 99% of people who otherwise won't die from this virus will get some serious side effect from the drug for rest of their life.

There is more long term risk to retinas with extended use of HCq. I especially find it compelling the study of 65k people who were on it already and only 20 of them where hospitalized for covid19. I think it was Italy or france. I did the math with cases vs their population and it was about 1 in 300 for the population but was only about 1 in 2200 for the HCQ prophylaxis. Of course this could also be a correlation because people sicke enough to be on HCQ . As he clarified today, it was found to be useless in patients who were already on death's door. Not necessarily as an early treatment, together with Zinc and Azithromycin. @@aadityamurali18 What happens is the daily case number is basically a function of roughly what happened 2 weeks before, due the way the virus develops in people. Two weeks ago most US states were in various types of lockdown, hence a decline in numbers. The US's problem is it hasn't taken the opportunity of lockdown to setup an extensive way to test and isolate carriers. it means that with more contacts happening (with very poor social distancing practices) after some or in some states all start to get restrictions lifted, the undected carriers will just go back spreading the virus.

I don't have a source but I've heard in a podcast that there are many doctors now reexamining old flu tests taken as early as November 2019 for traces of covid and apparently some tests are coming back positive indicating that it was circulating as early as November. My girlfriend and myself were sick in with a bad cough and fever in December that started a week after spending 3 days stuck in an international airport terminal. We believe it may have been covid. Apparently a lot of people were sick in December with a similar cough.

Good publicity is actually very valuable. A CEO has an interest in making shareholders happy. He can authorize his company to do philanthropic work, even if it is not profitable, and he gets brownie points for his efforts, an improved CV, and a good reputation. If he does this at a break even price, he wins, the company wins, the consumer wins. Not every transaction needs to be profitable. Many transactions a company makes are not profitable.

I believe this is why they haven't cured anything in decades. They only make treatments, not cures. Also everytime a patent expires, they come out with a "New Improved Version" which often isn't any better than the original. For example if they cured anything, AIDS, Diabetes, Cancer... they would lose Trillions of dollars treating those diseases. There is no incentive to cure anything. The free market will not correct this.

Well, there is evidence. Because the doctors and medics fighting this on the front line have found HCQ + Zn is having positive effects if given early enough. The paper that John cited is just an observational study which was not really a study as it was a conclusion from a collation of other papers but with an obvious bias. Do you want to wait for a fully peer reviewed study that can take months or start saving lives now with the expert experience we have learnt.

Science does matter and Dr Campbell is a national treasure but there is the problem that those who actually fund the science have their own agendas making it difficult to just sit back and accept everything we are told by the scientific community. We have to understand the bias and be vigilant which isn't necessarily the concern for a medical professional such as the good doctor.

Dr. Campbell has a PhD in Nursing and is a retired professor. As a doctor and researcher myself, I think he is doing an excellent job of evaluating the available scientific evidence.

Michele, I, too, live in the U.S. and I can't understand why there is no leadership at least trying to help slow the spread even when things are opening up. Why not require masks indoors for all businesses? Simple and would help a lot. Why is there not more being done to provide more safety equipment for the first responders and medical workers? There are many things that would help slow the spread even when businesses are opening but the U.S. leadership seems determined to increase the spread. Does this help the politicians somehow? Well sure yes there is a religious aspect to those who oppose our containment efforts here in the US but it’s not the major reason and plenty of those who are considered religious take this virus quite seriously and also participating in the containment measures. I think leadership being “only” concerned with the economy is inaccurate and unfair. I do wholeheartedly agree there is lack of leadership in how to move forward with specifically spelling out stages on a stereotype level clearly how to balance slowing and reducing the spread of the virus and getting the economy moving again.

We have people that want to wear mask while practicing social distancing and people that want to lick toilets. Merica

According to those who study this topic, 6% of Americans have Narcissistic Personality Disorder and at least that many have Narcissistic Personality Traits, but don't have the full-blown disorder. We have a President who traffics in hate. We have a President who is clearly mentally ill, a danger to others. The Republican Party has become a cult. They care much more about holding onto power and lining their own pockets, than in providing adequate leadership. Education in America is hit-or-miss. If you are raised in an upper middle class community, or better (the top 25% of earners), you will have lots of opportunities, including a high quality education. Otherwise, it's lots of luck. Unfortunately, people think it's OK to be a butthole, because the President is a butthole. For example, a takeaway ice cream place on Cape Cod decided to open. People were queued up outside. Staffers were working hard. Still, buttholes couldn't patiently wait their turn (and stay safe). The owner closed the place and now is requiring that you call the store an hour in advance to place your order.

I am in US and am very glad that the local people are in charge. when you live in a town of 123 people and nearest town with 1 case is 120 miles away no need to change anything unless you drive 3 hours to a city then you do what they are asking the people there to do. The government shut down all government run buildings, no opera ,swiming, paying taxes or renewing drivers permits. They sent everyone a form to vote by mail in June but you can vote in person if you want to. In the cities most small business people have chosen to close or change hours and services

It's certainly going to lead to more cases, the problem is that persistent total lockdown with destitute people and lead to starvation. Not many in the US, but the food aid we send to nations that are already in continuous struggle with starvation will suffer immensely.

We opened this past weekend in GSMNP and visitors are piling in. Sadly, my state has closed 15 RURAL hospitals. We get an average of 12 million visitors in a year. I suspect as weather warms, we will be a huge Hot Spot...

Including a 90 year old woman who recovered from covid19. apparently people are not signing up because of scare tactics used by fda that aren't found in reality. if uw can get their trial under way the results should be out by july. i advise anyone in washington state or anyone who knows people there to sign up.

If you don't have mandatory mask policies and free or cheap masks provided by the state then it's pretty irrelevant. People will go to work with people, return home to people, go to shops full of people. Large distance in between locations hardly changes anything, really, only makes ambulances arrive later.

Redemz, I believe that most people regularly watching Dr. John know what his qualifications are and recognise his knowledge both practical,book learned and teaching. We watch him because he is not biased and very informative and very easy to understand, the latter so important when teaching. We trust him to honestly inform us with the facts. Most Doctors I know are not the best educators or communicators they don’t KISS “keep it simple stupid”
