That PWHL game must yave been heartbreaking for Montreal fans. Desbiens was awesome and Montreal was probably the better team but Frankel was just too good.

One of the things that was interesting to me was how clean the ice surface was even midway through the overtime periods (in terms of being cut up by the skates). That perhaps suggests why it's easier to ride your top dogs more in that type of a game.

I did a whole rant after that game on my channel. It wasn’t just the fourth line, the coach ran two lines through the near the entire overtime which is absolutely insane. Bostons coach actually used her whole team, and was rewarded because it was their fourth line, someone who literally scored their first goal in the league, scoring the winner. Just terrible coaching. The complete lack of faith in the team was on display yesterday.

One of the differences between the NHL and PWHL that was noticeable in the overtime periods was a lot of the players felt thy had to drive with the puck to the net and the lack of hard shots from the point meant that players were holding onto the puck too long and either getting pushed off it or getting weak shots on net. And so as the game goes on and the players fatigue you're expending a lot of energy. Interesting to see what happens in game three as both teams have played two overtime games already

Boston had to kill a Major penalty during OT too. I can't imagine the NHL calling a major in playoff OT, unless a player got hospitalized on the ice.

Boston wins in the 6th period (3rd OT) despite losing a player in the 4th period (1st OT) after she was given a game misconduct for a hit to the head on Laura Stacey. And Montreal couldn't do anything on that 5 minute PP. If Boston wins the series Montreal will look at that instant and say "that's where we lost the series". Now it might not be THE reason they lose the series, but it will stand out more because that was their chance to win the game with a 5 minute PP, and they couldn't end it.

They’re also losing because of their coach. Playing two lines through a three period overtime game is insane. Now they’ll have nothing left for the rest of the series. Total lack of faith in her team. Someone like that does not deserve the privilege of coaching that TEAM.

Tonight's game could get out of hand FAST. If the Bruins go down early or are lost late, I'm not gonna be surprised when they start throwing fisticuffs and trying to fight everyone on the ice. Headshot your captain you need to respond either on the scoreboard or with a few pleasantries of your own.

I mean… it was Marchands own fault. He tried making a late hit and Bennett responded with the uno reverse. Unintentional contact resulted.

@tkdmike9345 watch the replay again. There's at least 4 angles showing Bennett leading with a punch to the jaw. Same thing he did to Knies last year without the slam to the ice. He's like Marchand in that way; he knows what he's doing and you know damn well it's intentional

It would be nice to hear what happens to players in the drafts and how contracts are in the PWHL. Drafts don't make sense to me, considering there are no lower leagues (aka ahl, echl, etc.). Is everyone on 1 year contracts?

There are players on longer 3 year deals, like the ones that were signed out of the gate in FA the original three signings for each team. There are other players I believe on two year deals as well. But yes unfortunately I believe most of the players are on 1 year contracts. Which doesn’t mean they won’t be signed again next year, but that is how it is currently set up. I imagine most of them would try play in Europe, probably the SDHL in Sweden, like WNBA players do when they don’t make their respective teams. Obviously it’s not a great system at the moment. Which is why unless you’re a top pick at this point it’s probably better to take your extra year in college.

The PWHL is the Professional Women’s Hockey League that currently only has 6 teams which are just known by the name of their cities (no team names yet). It started at the start of 2024 (like Jan 1st) I think

There are major differences in this women's league compared to the NHL that make it similar to European hockey, like the ice being iihf size and using the 3210 point system. Also there is body checking unlike all other women's leagues.

They're keeping names open for when teams are acquired by new ownership over the next year, I think that they're also planning on expanding to a few more locations due to he success and they're going to do some more branding, sponsorships and establishing team identity.

Probs too expensive. The league has achieved success by being flexible and creatively adapting to their death of financial resources (relative to NHL). They must focus on cutting unnecessary costs to ensure they can become profitable within 5 years.

Watching other teams play just shows how messy Boston is playing, Every other team i watch is able to get set up in the O-zone. Boston's runs around like chickens with their heads cut off and seems to get lucky with the occasional goal. Hope they can fix it quick, Or maybe Florida is just that good, GO B's!

I feel like for whatever reason, the definition for "depth scoring" changes from game to game when it comes to Oilers. Last game, they had 4 different goal scorers. In the first one, 3 different goal scorers. Draisaitl and McDavid have scored 2 goals in this series. Ceci and Ekholm have scored 3. Can we stop moving the goal posts to keep the fake narrative about Oilers' depth scoring alive, and instead talk about the facts? McDavid getting a secondary assist on a goal doesn't make that goal his goal, no matter how Canadian you are.

With all the whining and complaining coming from one particular fan base, it wouldn't surprise me if there is a glut of penalty calls in tonight EDM v VAN game. My question for Vancouver fans, do you really think the Oilers getting 8 power plays benefits your team in the slightest? A special teams battle heavily favors the Oilers at this point
