Really appreciate these peaks inside your process and see how easy and difficult this process can be concurrently. Also the similarities that we all experience in this life. Keep on keeping on Dev. And thank you for sharing.

I like the quote about uncertainty in life and developing self trust. It reminds me of another quote that's been very prevalent for me. " The bad news is you're falling through the air. No parachute, nothing to hold on to. The good news is there is no ground. "

I often find when I set out to write something more light-hearted and palatable, the heaviness will always seep in like water damage. It's just how we're wired. Most times, trying to be light-hearded in art is like trying to put a funny little hat on a tornado.

Balancing family life and work has never been an easy thing. I wish you all the best Devin and thank you so much for still creating and providing this beautiful music that makes us all feel better. You are a true angel for many people including myself.

I find it necessary to self soothe oneself with life’s somewhat mundane or emotional train wreck that we go through day-to-day. You look relaxed with your guitar on your lap. Always take that time when you need it or your brain will become overwhelmed. I believe it was a couple of talks back. You said your first guitar was a 12 string, so was mine. My dad had surprised me with it on my 16th birthday a long time ago. I miss him, so I pick it up and play it when I think of him or any other time I need to get away for a bit. I enjoy these chats. 😊

However it turns out, it will turn out well. Thank you for being a good example. You have all our support and energy!! 👏👏👏💪🔝

I’m so excited for what you and Steve Vai will be doing for the Moth, really looking forward to that and PowerNerd. Also excited for more DreamPeace, that’s been working wonders for me getting to sleep and focusing at work.

Hey dev, i wanted to thank you. Ive been listening to Dreampeace for about 2 weeks now to sleep to, since sleep to me is a constant nightmare. But because ive been listening to those records my sleep has been so much better, i actually feel awake at 10am.

As a musician, in particular one who is inspired by your work, these updates have been very insightful. I feel that I’m going to have a much deeper connection with this music when it comes out because of how much I know it means to you, how much work has gone into it, and the artistic intent behind it. These videos have also been incredibly relatable. In the parts of my process that are more original to me, and not necessarily inspired by or copying another artist, it’s good to know that so many tough and challenging aspects of the creative process are a shared experience. And I’m really looking forward to hearing the results of you getting through those parts of the process. Love your stuff, Dev. I’m really excited!

Thank you Devin for always articulating experiences that I think many of us have, but don’t have the words for. Relating hard on the funny thing that happens when you share an unfinished idea with close friends, then the finished version is compared to the demo unfairly. I agree that it’s healthiest and most rewarding to wait until it’s ready to present, until you personally feel good about the art’s completeness. Looking forward to hearing your new work no sooner than when it feels ready to you!

I stopped playing heavy guitar or guitar for a while, and I pick it up, and can’t do what I used to do. Sometimes my ego and myself tells me what the hell😂 and I stop, more recently watching you and I’ve been picking up acoustic guitar or classical, and it feels better.my head tells me” play metal, what happened to the down picking” but I’ve been picking it up more now, and I think if you are inspired just play, and don’t force yourself, what I’ve been playing now, doesn’t have an electric guitar in mind. These vids are cool. And huge fan, I gotta go away from, what I think I have to play, rather than what feels right to me.

Id lke to see a raw uncut jam session with a bunch of stoner hippies from you, just kidding glad to hear your jammng with Steve , thats cool i remember those old vids of you joining his band it was so funny. After hearing Steve sing i think id rather hear him sing and you play guitar to be honest. hehe well if you guys were doing a country record or something, he's got some grassroots soul under all that guitar finish. I agree with you about the emotional demanding part too. I feel that way sometimes too and its like i gotta keep myself in a state i dont want to be in to keep the music going, and thats when i question the whole thing. I dont want to be sad forever, but this sad song requires it. It almost like music stunts your growth as a person if you let it. Kurt cobain was honest about it, he wasnt sad anymore and didnt want to be fake on stage. But when you get paid lots and lots of money, its easy to say "lets fake it for one more show" - Billy Corgan. Or youre not faking it, and that cool but eventually who gotta get over that emotion or learn from it im guessing, not be stuck in it. Which is where I think the music business conflicts with musics theraputic nature, it doesnt want you to get better, it wants more and more and more! ... Im not saying stop music, just progess i think, if youre not doing pop song evnetually youre not making it as a musician, we're all failed pop artists deep down, as we progress we might finally make it, in that happy place of pop.
