I'm really happy to see this arcade machine... because when I was young my father give me a video game console that was exactly the same. I can observe the rotating buttons are exactly identical on this arcade machine in comparison on my video game console. I unfortunately lost this old video console, but seeing that help to to understand the origin of my first console in late '70 !

john....them old tube tv's have wax capacitors and these other caps they call bumble bees that go bad...i would definitely change em out cause i beleive thats what's causing the sync issue...you have picture so your tubes are most likely all good but i would order a set to have on standyby!!!!

John, the multiple markings on the board are from the mfg of the fiberglass laminate. the PCB makers name should be etched on since this circuit board looks to have no solder mask or silkscreen.

The problem with these games, John, is that while they are historically significant, they really aren't meant to be played. They just don't hold up. They look cool, but won't really get any play. By placing more of these in the basement, you're effectively changing it from an arcade into more of a museum.

that humming sounds like a transformer or AC ripple to me. I bet that power supply is putting out nasty voltages. Its probably low as all get out and slowly increases which is why it kinda started to work.

Dude! That game was in "stasis" this whole time. It almost looks like new! ^_^ EDIT: Also: You can connect the TV from computer space to find out if it is a TV issue before touching anything.

Wonder if the issue is because of the power supply and the ground pin being missing from the plug...hmm..I'm sure you'll figure it out John! Good luck!

Audio buzz is obvious symptom of a bad filtering capacitor in the power supply. You should have inspected and replaced all the electrolytics.

Hi John! (Posted this previously, but seems to be caught as spam for included links. So, no links this time.) First, awesome game! To me, this looks rather like a board issue: The TV seems to have sync (stable image top), but the image is apparently going into vertical sync halfway, repeating the top at the bottom half. In between, there's a sweeping line, looking much like the V-Sync signal. This could be an issue of the vertical sync chain on the board (a line of interconnected counter chips, counting the lines it sends to the TV, where it's probably about the highest order one, or about a flip-flop at the very end, which is failing, hence the repeat after hitting the middle of the TV image). If this is true, this may be responsible for the angry hum of the TV, too (the flyback may not appreciate the irregular vertical sync too much). - May be time to call Adam ... (Disclaimer: I'm not an expert by any means, just read a bit on the topic, so this may all be wrong.)

That issue with your picture is most likely with your fly back or high voltage tube
