If you're out in the middle of the nowhere in the woods and a dude you don't know just shows up, alone, there's a non-zero chance you're in a cliche horror movie.
You are far safer encountering someone in the back country than in a city. A vast majority of people you will encounter far into the woods are people who are there specifically because they are interested in being in the wilderness. Nobody is wondering 20 miles into the woods to find people to kill, assault or rob.

Yeah a lot of the discussions about women doing safety things that men don't do is weird. Like I've seen multiple posts where women say that men leaving the door to their house unlocked is a sign of male privilege or something.

If I walk into a person's house and they don't lock the door behind I immediately question the security of the house because if they're willing to leave a door unlocked then how do I know there ain't a unattended open window sonewhere in the house lol. Growing up wuth my grandparents, we always kept our doors locked, my grandma even got those doorstop things you stick between the knob and floor so people can't push the door open. This is with us living in a neighborhood where crime has never happened and we still take precautions
I did have the initial reaction of "wtf why the bear"? But I was thinking in terms of probability and not potential threat. The bear will try to kill you, the man may or may not be dangerous. However I think the question is meant to be thought up as who has the more threat potential. The man may do worse than just kill you. You may suffer long before death claims you.
My thoughts on the man or bear discourse is the fact that despite all of the valid reasons against it, most women are still attracted to men. As they say "the best argument against the idea that sexuality is a choice is the fact that despite everything, straight women still exist". I've also known several bi women who for a while tried to convince themselves they're lesbians and cried very hard when they realized they're still attracted to men because they knew better than most how much easier it would be if they just didnt have those feelings at all, if they werent attracted to people who were statistically much more likely to hurt them. As a lesbian, I thank god every day for creating me free of these feelings 🙏
See, if this discourse is aimed at showing young men what women put up with so they can start behaving better, I wonder if "Don't worry; even though it's totally irrational and against their best interest, some women will still probably be dumb enough to find you attractive" is the best message we could close out the point with. Like, does it really push back against r*pe culture to say "Women are correctly afraid of you by default, but every so often they'll stupidly let their guard down, so be ready to take advantage of their mistake"?
That seems like a terrible message. This is why you can't live life acting like every statistical likelihood will happen to you, otherwise you would just never do anything. There would be no reason to go outside. Everything worth doing is worth doing against all the odds.

So when you are disagreeing with them on something they are probably just getting frustrated that the chore is now going to take longer. There is also a bit of ego in getting a good deal. A lot of guys probably don't even notice they are doing it. I watched my brother haggle with a woman on getting a good price on a computer once. I watched as she was clearly getting nervous and uncomfortable and yet when i asked him about it afterward he seemed completely baffled by what i was saying. Shrug, people just don't really think about their actions, especially when they are so outside their frame of reference.
Something vaush didnt touch on but is also very important is that if a women is attacked by a bear, people will believe her and in some circumstances (like in a urban area) take action about the bear e.g relocation. If a women is attacked and raped by a man, a lot of people will not believe her and there is a very low chance there would ever be consequences for the perpetrator.
If she is attacked by a bear there is a good chance she will be dead (Depending on the kind of bear, but let's not get autistic about the question). I don't think this is about what situation you would actually be safer in, but rather that a lot of men's reaction is tellingly defensive. If your reaction to it is "well that's silly" that's fine but if you get really defensive "huh these hysterical women, don't they know, bla bla bla" that is the problem.

He compared that to the students barricading Hamilton Hall. I don't have the knowledge to challenge the point on the civil rights protests post 1965 being "performative" (though I'm pretty sure the focus after the voting rights act was redlining that was common everywhere, not just the south), but there was a comment from a Columbia student on the article saying that the reason the pro-palestine protestors escalated was because the administration was acting in obvious bad faith. Also the latest comment on the article is saying "yeah, the anti-vietnam protests were also useless and just caused a bunch of campuses shutting down for a bit. If they wanted change they should have gone to congress and talked to them." I'm realizing that people (on average) don’t like protests until it's them that are under the boot of the state.
As far as Asmon turning into a good boy when talking to Hasan, Asmongold is a character. When he does videos as himself, Zack, he's talks just like this. Over the past 5 yrs or so, Zack seems to have gotten lost in the Asmongold character the bigger his stream has gotten. He doesn't know how to pull back and just keeps playing to his audience.
That's always how the pipeline happens for those types of content creatures. They'll create a "Character" and then they get lost in it themselves. Completely agree about the lack of depth in male to male interaction; I always used to find it super weird that guys were more interested in "pranking" each other and hitting each other in the balls, instead of just, you know, being decent to each other or being there for each other when they needed support.

As an autist I still cant help but read it as "ah you see, a bear has better swing strength and has claws🤓☝️" Granted I encountered the question in a hypothetical "you get teleported in a forest, would you rather a random man to be teleported or a random bear". But a human person will just stick to your hair.
