In a warmup of the following year, jockey Ron Turcotte and trainer Lucien Laurin team together with winning horse Riva Ridge to capture the 98th Kentucky Derby. No Le Hace placed second and Hold Your Peace came in third.
Laurin and Turcotte would return the following May in Louisville with Riva Ridge's stablemate, Secretariat to make history.
