May Pang's 18-month romance with John Lennon is the subject of a new documentary called The Lost Weekend, a love story out April 13
The film offers a unique perspective on Lennon's life and career, as well as a deeper understanding of May Pang's own experiences and contributions to the music industry.
During the early 1970s, Lennon and Pang were in a romantic relationship while Lennon was separated from his wife Yoko Ono. The couple spent about 18 months together, during which time Lennon produced some of his most memorable music, including the albums "Mind Games" and "Walls and Bridges".
The documentary features interviews with May Pang, who provides insight into her relationship with Lennon, as well as other individuals who were close to Lennon during that period. The film also includes rare archival footage and photographs, along with reenactments of some of the events that took place during that time.

To Jon Boyd, I agree wholeheartedly and strongly believe that they would have been better off staying together. For Julian’s sake as well. If he said that it was better and friends and family and themselves were happier than when he was with Yoko , then that has to be better. Right?

May Pang did a great job on the documentary but I had a tough time seeing John Lennon being such a flawed person. May worked for John and Yoko and asking her to have an affair with John was wrong. It was a lopsided power relationship as May was a youngster and John and Yoko international celebrities. John heckling the Smothers Brothers and disrupting their act was ungracious. Julian Lennon comes across in the documentary as a good man and a better person than his dad. Walls and Bridges and the Rock and Roll albums are brought once again as the masterpieces of John’s career that deserve recognition. They tend to be forgotten now but they are sonic delights that need to shine. All in all a great documentary. Thank you!

You are quite right!!! And nobody dares to speak out because Yoko is a.very powerful woman with a lot of very high paid lawyers working for her. So the fairytale of the Romeo and Juliet of the sixtties, built up by YOKO has been successfully spread out . Nobody dares to contest, even the people who actually lived around them at the Dakota apartment. Frederik Freaman wrote a book called THE LAST DAYS OF JOHN LENNON And was highly oersecuted for years snd years and also beaten by cops sent by Yoko. Yoko= terrible woman who was able to manipulate John who was completely dependent on her! So sad to.realize that and most of the people don't know the truth about her!

The real "Lost Weekend" was the weekend Yoko spirited John away to hypnotize and drug him, allowing him no calls from May. He told May he only remembered drinking tea and then throwing up -- again and again. If THAT's not the real "Lost Weekend" what is?

a smart person, she is. She's got merit in the story of famous people and their exploits being rich and having freedoms playing a big role there in the middle of it. She basically balances with truth the myths of John and Yoko as the perfect couple Her story will regulate the licenses the rich take with their authorized narratives.

May was a cog in the PR machine, John was back in the game after a long hiatus and this was a way to stir up interest in him as a solo artist, it worked, "Double Fantasy" was a success, to bad he didn't live long enough to enjoy his comeback. I also think a lot of people did not like Yoko so the supposed separation was crucial in distancing himself from her, even though the album was a Yoko and John collaboration it wasn't really marketed as such, it was sort of slipped in there. Of course all the hit songs were johns music.

Saw the movie, it’s fun and upbeat, snappy editing, almost like watching an hour long commercial for Pop-Tarts. But you could see throughout there was way, way, way too much caution to avoid legal trouble with Yoko Ono’s notorious crack team of New York lawyers ready to pounce at the slightest hint of a tarnishing the John and Yoko love story brand, to the point of even reducing John Lennon to the peace and love cutout character, that you don’t really learn anything new beyond the countless interviews May Pang has already given on TV talk shows and then internet podcasts over the years.
