I hope you make it to 10k! All the vibes to get you there! I have Happiness Falls on my TBR and trying to get to it! I'm so glad you had mostly good reads this month!
Your closing prompted me to go back to your newbie tag video. Girl, your journey is beautiful, and I hope you show love to that past you. She was, and you still are, completely adorable and bingeworthy. Always authentic ❤ (And, I am taking Expiration Dates off the TBR...undecided on In Five Years.)
yesssss Oona & Happiness Falls!! I have also been obsessed with Happiness Falls since I read it. I convinced my IRL book club to read it so I could discuss it with more people and no one was as obsessed as me 😭🤣
I'll bet that Magic Mind juice is waaaay better to drink than a Monster...😂 Book recommendation if you're into nonfiction/memiors: Gracie Gold outofshapeworthlessloser. So insightful into the seedy world of figure skating! I'm sad it's not gotten the same notice as other current memiors.
I totally get what you mean with Other Side of Night (though I haven’t read it). I feel the same with The Lighthouse Witches by CJ Cooke. I absolutely loved the novel, but one might think it’s fantasy, or about what the back says it is. And while the synopsis is true, it’s so so much more than that and not how I would explain it. It is several genres, and sometimes I hear people talking about loving certain kinds of books, but if I tell them this is that kind of book it will totally spoil the story. I think it was probably very hard to market. I still loved it, even though I’m not really one that seeks out books that have that thing I’m referring to. I’ve seen most on RU-vid that read it have loved it, but still I don’t think it got the hype it deserves, and it actually makes me a little bummed it can’t reach that right audience because it’s such a great novel. Like you ever read one book from an author and start thinking of them as one of your favorite authors? That’s how this book makes me feel about her…I really need to get to her backlist!
I listened to The Vegetarian and I'm really hoping something was lost in translation. I was definitely expecting body horror, not just extremely explicit cheating scenes told from the perspectives of just truly awful people.
