They're the Shawn/Angela of the show... Upstaged the main couple (Riley/Lucas) with way less screentime. I love how it also goes full circle with the BMW ending with tiny Josh. Akndjsjss this show just needed ONE MORE SEASON for them. We could've had it aaaall.

What I love about Josh and Maya is that you can tell from the very beginning he always likes her. But he doesn’t let himself, bc he knows he’s almost 18 and she’s still in middle school so it’s just not appropriate. So he doesn’t let himself have those feelings. But from “you grew up gorgeous” to “there’s a new maturity in Maya. I find it intriguing.” To how uncomfortable he gets when she tells him about the cave people. It’s obvious he has some feelings for her. I think he gets uncomfortable in the cavemen scene bc he’s not used to the idea that anyone could like him that much, and he likes that she feels that way. But he just keeps telling himself he’s not allowed to feel that way about her so he shoves it down and just looks overall uncomfortable. Then when he see’s her again and she’s 15 and in high school he realizes she’s not so young after all. And even though it still wouldn’t be appropriate right then for them to be in a relationship. He finally lets himself have feelings for her. They’re just so cute. I want a spin off with just the 2 of them. Girl meets world could have been such a good show. BMW was amazing, but GMW was just so filtered and disneyfied. It didn’t hit hard topics like BMW did. You would have never seen a storyline on GMW where anyone was drinking alcohol. Let alone Maya or Riley. But that full out is a storyline with Cory and Shawn on BMW. One that they handle very appropriately. And works in a kids show. All of the characters, excluding Riley, are set up as interesting and dynamic. And they all work in a cast. And even have some funny lines from time to time. But the writing and majority of the storylines for the show are just flat out bad. They aren’t creative. They’re filtered and boring and have been done a million times. And it doesn’t help anyone that Riley is supposed to be the main character of the show. Idk if it’s the character of Riley herself, or Rowan Blanchard’s performance. I suspect it’s a combination of both. But Riley is just such a wet blanket. They write her so one dimensional. Why would I care about a character like that????

I feel like he was holding off on maya bc 1. He wanted to make sure she was the one 2. He didn’t want to hurt her or vice versa and ruin their friendship. He always knew he had something with maya.
