A quick note the Greeks represented on the show A Different World in the 90s were members of those organizations. They were primarily seen in the background. The main characters on the show were in fictional BGLO.
The people on A Different World were actually members that were extras on the set. That’s why they wore their letters. If you think about it the main characters were in made up Greek fraternities and sororities.
I was looking for this comment because Debbie Allan (the producer) is a member of DST and I would think that she wouldn’t let that slide. Especially back in the 90’s!
clAssIcAllymINdless thanks for clearing that up! I know it was up for debate, so I asked a member and they said yes. I guess you can’t take everyone’s word for it 🤷🏽♀️
@@raeevans3519 it is hard to find stuff out. I only know because I recently saw a Debbie Allen interview where she mentioned wanting to join AKA like her sister and made line but couldn’t because of personal reasons
Hi M&M, lovely video as always! Just to clarify..Molly the character on Insecure an AKA. Yvonne Orji, the actress who plays Molly, is not an AKA. Also, HU! U know! ✊🏾😉 Keep shining, Sorors!
I completely agree with yall regarding AKA and Insecure. Black shows in the 90s had actual members of the D9 orgs play extras on those shows so that is different than Insecure.
Love it 💕💕💕 this could really be the whole M&M series! It’s so funny because at done points, the wine glasses kind of looked like microphones lol 🤣 really podcast-type things!
Molly (Yvonne) isn't an AKA in real life either. I don't think it was that big of a deal tho ... I mean I know many AKA members who stain the reputation of the sorority with their bad behaviors and/or choosing not to be active/financial but no one tells them anything.
Loved this video and how naturally the conversation flowed. Biotin is in most hair growth products and it can cause breakouts if you don’t drink plenty of water.
Wait ...are yall mad because a fictional character wore Greek letters, or are yall mad that she didn't ask permission first? And since you both admitted that her character looked like the typical AKA....why doess the organization still not acknowledged the brown paper bag issue? This is not a read I swear just honest questions from a non member I am open to be schooled.

These are stereotypes we used as a example , those stereotypes were set about our Org way before we pledged . That is just assumptions from those who haven’t been apart of the Greek process who still believe in those old stereotypes
In regards to the Howard situation; I bet if all the students disenrolled and went somewhere else they’d fix it. I would just go to a different college vs deal with that and protest and all that stuff. Just take my money elsewhere
